Greg Hardy smashes through yet another opponent in order to get his latest win as a pro-MMA fighter against lesser competition.

The former NFL player was back in action on Saturday night (September 29, 2018) as he scored a 53 second knockout of Rasheem Jones at an XFN event in Tulsa, Oklahoma that aired on UFC’s streaming service, Fight Pass. This was just another example of pushing Hardy as a star by putting him on their service despite it being a smaller show.

In the fight, Hardy won it after stuffing a bad takedown attempt from Jones that left him open to devastating strikes that ultimately led to the end of the fight. Hardy moves to 3-0 as a pro with a 3-0 amateur career.

It should be noted that he is currently under a rare developmental contract where the UFC is paying him to fight in the minor leagues. Once they feel that he’s ready, he will then fight in the UFC.

Hardy’s Background

The second professional mixed martial arts fight for the former NFL star was under the banner of UFC President Dana as he beat Tebaris Gordon on the August 7 episode of the show. This bout marked the first on Hardy’s new four-fight contract with Zuffa, the parent company of the UFC.

Hardy made his pro-MMA debut on the season 2 premiere (June 12, 2018) of ‘Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series.’ He faced off against fellow former NFL player Austen Lane in a heavyweight bout.

Hardy does have a history of domestic violence that started back in 2014. It all started once he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a former girlfriend and communicating threats against her life. As a result, he was convicted of domestic violence. However, after an appeal, the charges were eventually expunged from his record, which has led to people being skeptical of why the UFC wants to do business with him.

Derrick Lewis once called out former opponent Travis Browne for allegedly hitting women, and now he’s calling out former NFL player-turned-mixed martial artist Greg Hardy.

Lewis recently discussed Hardy’s upcoming professional MMA debut, which will be under Dana White’s Contender Series with TMZ Sports, and as usual, he didn’t hold back when it came to Hardy’s history of domestic abuse.

“He’s a wife beater, I’d like to get in there with him. I like knocking wife beaters out. I’ll fight Greg Hardy. It’ll be like vice versa him beating on a woman. I’ll be beating him like he was a woman.”

”I grew up watching my mom and my stepdad fight just about every single damn day. Fist fighting every day for stupid stuff. I don’t tolerate stuff like that at all.”

Hardy was infamously charged with domestic violence against a girlfriend back in 2014, which ultimately cost him his NFL career. Lewis had brought up Browne’s history of violence towards women leading into their February 2017 fight. There, ‘The Black Beast’ knocked out ‘Hapa’ with punches in the second round.

Hardy is 3-0 as an amateur with all three victories coming by way of first-round knockout.

Controversial ex-NFL player Greg Hardy is set to make his MMA debut next month.

Hardy, 29, will take on Joe Hawkins in an amateur heavyweight bout on November 4. He has been training at American Top Team (ATT) in preparation for his amateur MMA debut, which will take place at Rise of a Warrior 21 at the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce, Florida.

The former Carolina Panther and Dallas Cowboy fell from grace after his highly-publicized domestic assault case back in 2014, when his girlfriend at the time alleged Hardy beat her and threatened to kill her.

Hardy received only 18 months of probation and the charges were later dropped after the victim refused to testify.

He played for the Dallas Cowboys after the incident, but was dropped after the 2015-2016 season and has been pursuing a career in mixed martial arts ever since.

“It’s helped me a lot of ways, I have a lot of problems as a human being. It’s not something that you do, just walking around saying ‘I’m perfect’ or ‘I’m good.’ Man, I have a lot of different issues that I’m definitely working through and working on. I would say this helps me channel everything. It helps me just come back down to Earth, be humble, because these are machines that I see everyday. I get choked out, punched in the face, and laid out on the mat daily, and that’s not something that a guy my size and my stature with my history has every come across.

“It’s a humbling experience, man,” he continued. “Actually, it’s making me really appreciative of everything that I’ve had and everything that I have, and the opportunity that I have to kinda come in and show myself as a guy that is not what everybody says on TV, or, ‘he’s not a monster, he’s not a killer, a women beater,’ this, that and the other. It gives me an opportunity to just come in, be a humble guy, and learn, and honestly just be at the feet of all these champions who walk around like they’re just normal guys … and have the opportunity to make myself better one more time, one last time in sports and life in general.”

Hardy will compete at heavyweight; with his 6’4 frame and raw athleticism, do you expect Hardy to make any waves in MMA?
