Henry Cejudo is still handing out unsolicited advice to Conor McGregor.

McGregor is in the middle of planning his UFC return for later this year against a to-be-determined opponent. He hasn’t fought in the Octagon since his devastating leg break against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Cejudo retired following his win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 but has hinted at a UFC comeback. He’s previously called out McGregor for a fight at lightweight.

McGregor has shown off some of his training routines recently as he works his way back to fighting. Last month, Cejudo critiqued McGregor’s striking.

“Everything is done naked,” Cejudo opined. “No fakes, no faints, no level changes. But you think your going to get a different result. You work to much on combinations where you should be working entries, set ups, and setting traps. Just a tip from the goat mahhhh.”

This wasn’t the first time that Cejudo has poked McGregor on Twitter. He recently mocked McGregor following the former two-weight champion’s traffic arrest in Ireland.

McGregor dismissed Cejudo’s striking advice in a reply.

“The opening punches are the traps/feints/fakes. You ever hear or see that before?” McGregor replied. “Your little feints won’t draw me out, kid. But pump a few real shots you might get a response. You are a little fat novice with about 2 ko’s. At bantam. I’ve 20. Across 3 divisions. Quiet, you bum!”

Cejudo Continues To Provide “Free Advice” To McGregor

Thursday, Cejudo would once again provide some unwanted advice to McGregor after the Irish superstar posted another video of his pad work.

“MMA is different than boxing if you over turn your hips it leads to easy takedowns. It’s hard to recover your position if you over throw your hips. You essentially add more time to whatever punch you throw next. You really need to understand setup punches. – Sincerely the (GOAT),” Cejudo wrote.

McGregor has hinted at a move to welterweight to challenge the champion, Kamaru Usman, in his Octagon return. Usman will face Leon Edwards next but with a win, a McGregor fight may not be completely off the table.

Cejudo has taken a coaching role at Fight Ready in Arizona but is plotting a UFC return as soon as November of this year. While the chances of a fight between Cejudo and McGregor seem unlikely, the tension between them appears to be heating up.

What are your thoughts on the recent Conor McGregor/Henry Cejudo beef?

It sounds like we can expect to see Henry Cejudo back in the Octagon sooner rather than later.

Renowned MMA coach Eric Albarracin appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and confirmed that his most decorated fighter is planning a return to the UFC with some fairly big ambitions.

“Triple C will officially become C4 this year,” said Albarracin. “He is back in the USADA (U.S. Anti-Doping Agency) pool. He dove head first into it. You know Henry comes from the Olympic Training Center been tested since he was a sophomore in high school so he’ll be good to go as soon as the USADA, I guess that period of testing is done.”

Henry Cejudo’s manager Ali Abdelaziz confirmed to ESPN in April that ‘Triple C’ had re-entered the USADA testing pool.

“He’ll be good to go. He’s already in training, said Albarracin. “You know, Henry never really stopped training. When Henry was coaching, it was awesome. He was there every day and sometimes, you always hear that athletes, when you become a coach, you become better, but you’re still not in your prime. It’s hard to go back. Henry is still in his prime. He became a coach, one of the best coaches in the game. You saw what he did with Figueiredo. You saw what he did with Zhang Weili. He helped bring on Jon Jones and Jiri Prochazka. I mean, this guy was putting in work.

“Now he’s learned, he’s studied and now he’s got the opportunity to come back and he’s coming for more gold for sure.”

Henry Cejudo Is Coming Back for More Gold

When asked if Henry Cejudo would be returning with featherweight gold on his mind, Albarracin confirmed that a showing at 145 was one of their goals, but ‘Triple C’ would initially set his sights on the UFC’s bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling.

“The word on the street is 35, so I think he’s coming after Aljamain,” said Albarracin. “But I do think if he comes back and gets the 135 title, he can move up and an immediate world title shot at 145 whether it’s Volkanovski or Max Holloway.”

Albarracin also stated that Cejudo expects to return for an immediate title shot as early as October when his USADA testing period ends.

Cejudo retired from mixed martial arts after defeating Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. Cejudo went 10-2 under the UFC banner, winning both the flyweight and bantamweight championships in the process. Since his retirement, Cejudo has made appearances for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Eagle FC promotion and All Elite Wrestling.

Conor McGregor

Former two-weight UFC champion, Henry Cejudo has once again shared some pointers and given his thoughts on the pad work of fellow former duel-weight gold holder, Conor McGregor – despite feeling the wrath of the Dubliner in a recent approach.

Cejudo, who returned to the USADA testing pool earlier this month, has been touted by his manager, Dominance MMA leader, Ali Abdelaziz to snap a two-year retirement later this annum, has been attracting the attention of bantamweight best, Aljamain Sterling, as well as himself offering to fight featherweight kingpin, Alexander Volkanovski.

The outspoken Los Angeles native has been out of action since his April 2020 retirement after defeating Dominick Cruz to successfully defend the bantamweight championship, with the Olympic gold medalist relinquishing the title as well as his flyweight crown soon thereafter.

For McGregor, the 33-year-old striker has been touted to return to active competition by the fall by UFC president, Dana White, after he suffered a fractured tibia in his left leg in the closing stages of the first round of his trilogy rubber match against Dustin Poirier in July last year.

Conor McGregor once again receives boxing advice from fellow former champion, Henry Cejudo

Returning to sparring and boxing drills in the late stages of last month, McGregor, who had previously received some tips and advice from Cejudo on his striking technique – has once again been the subject of analysis from the Fight Ready staple.

“To (sic) much too much wind telegraphs what you’re doing which makes it not believable,” Henry Cejudo tweeted in relation to a video posted by Conor McGregor. “Half punch the front hand to disguise the back hand. It’s not about the combination but how you hide everything with a big surprise. Sincerely, the goat (goat emoji) – humble Henry (Cejudo).”

The video in question has been captioned by McGregor – who claims that the straight shots he is practising should be viewed as “bow and arrow” punches.

“”The McGregor bow and arrows” I’m calling these,” Conor McGregor tweeted. “In association with Bruce Lee. Enjoy (smiling face emoji).”

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling sat down with Henry Cejudo to discuss the possibility of their upcoming title fight.

Aljamain Sterling retained his 135-lbs belt against Petr Yan last month in a rematch over a year in the making. Going into the bout as a massive underdog, ‘Funkmaster’ proved the doubters wrong. Following the contest, he was called out by the former two-division champion Cejudo for his next fight.

In a recent sitdown on The DC Check-In show, Henry Cejudo sat across Aljamain Sterling as they discussed each other’s fighting capabilities. ‘Triple C’ doesn’t seem to be a big fan of Sterling as he expressed his analysis on the current bantamweight king.

“Too many flaws,” Henry Cejudo said. “Well, we’re going to end up fighting but I’m going to expose that. He’s got a lot of flaws. As good as he is, he’s got an ability to him, and I think that’s his greatest asset, his limbs. I still don’t think he really understands his whole capability just yet.

“Think about it this way, I’m 5’4 small, short but I know how to fight people where people don’t touch me. I know how to wrestle people. I’m a better competitor than I’m a fighter so when I see a guy like Aljamain Sterling, I’m just like, ‘that’s easy money.’”

Daniel Cormier took the comments to the ‘Funkmaster’ to inquire how he felt about being judged as “incomplete” even though he’s on top of the food chain.

As Sterling began to defend his abilities, Cejudo chimed in to ask the 32-year-old for advice for himself. ‘Funkmaster’ made a fair point of not being able to critique Cejudo as well since he has been out of action for two years now.

Henry Cejudo Assesses Sterling vs. Yan 1

Cormier brought up the topic of Sterling’s less than stellar performance in his first fight with Petr Yan. Henry Cejudo shared his thoughts on Sterling’s shortcomings in that fight and praised him for coming out on top regardless.

“I thought you did a horrible, I thought you went in there and threw a bunch of volumes and it wasn’t working. The dude (Yan) just didn’t respect it, your takedowns weren’t there. Things of that nature and I feel like you’re trying to create those scrambling positions that I talked about before and you’re trying to go to the bottom, it just wasn’t working.

“But what I will say about this dude is, he’s a winner. He found a way to beat this dude.”

Cejudo does not consider Sterling to be the best even though he’s the champion.

“He’s got the belt but he ain’t the best in the world,” Cejudo added. “It’s like this dude, there’s been guys that have had UFC belts that were kinda granted that. Don’t get me wrong, he’s the world top but when it comes to saying, who is the best in the world it’s hard for me to pull myself aside and say that.

“When I lost to Demetrious Johnson, that motherf**ker is the best. That’s a bad dude. That’s a dude that I knew I had to chase. I don’t feel that with Aljamain.”

While Cejudo is back in the USADA pool, his return fight to the UFC remains to be confirmed. He has called for a title shot against Sterling which seems more likely than his other callout of UFC featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski.

Henry Cejudo expects his Octagon return to mirror his exit.

On May 9, 2020, Henry Cejudo walked away from the sport of MMA after TKOing Dominick Cruz in the second round at UFC 249. Exactly two years to the day, a video was published with Cejudo standing across from his targeted return opponent, informing him that the same fate awaits him.

After all the teasing, trolling, and trash-talking, Henry Cejudo finally looks ready to actually return to active competition. Although Alexander Volkanovski has been Cejudo’s target for some time now, Triple C’s menacing gaze has recently shifted over to “The FunkMaster” and reigning UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling.

There was no need for a gaze shift during a face-to-face interview moderated by Daniel Cormier, where Cejudo had the opportunity to invite Sterling into his home and tell the man what he thought of him straight to his face.

Cejudo To Sterling: “You Ain’t Making It Past Three”

Among the things Cejudo told Sterling is that he has respect for him; his potential is still untapped; he has noticeable holes in his game; and, perhaps most notably, that should the two meet in the Octagon, Sterling will be finished within three rounds, just as Dominick Cruz was before him.

“Dominick Cruz is very beatable. Very beatable,” Cejudo said after Sterling praised Cruz’s resurgence. “He doesn’t impress me at all. He leaves his legs behind. Like, all that movement (is) unnecessary. And I’ve shown that.

“I told Dominick Cruz that he ain’t making it past three, and I’m gonna tell Aljamain Sterling that now. You ain’t making it past three, either.”

Sterling took Cejudo’s words in stride, noting that it’s a good thing to have confidence. He also has become accustomed to being habitually doubted, so these remarks from Cejudo were par for the course for the reigning champion.

“It’s just funny to hear this,” Sterling said with a smile. “It’s like, alright, just do your best, do your worst, and bring what you gotta bring because, at the end of the day, I’ve heard a lot of people say all these things about me. And it’s this, ‘He can’t do this, he got no power, he can’t strike, he can’t take me down, he’s a D-3 wrestler,’ and I just keep shutting everybody the fuck up.”

Cejudo re-entered the USADA testing pool last month, which means he’ll be eligible to compete near the end of the year.

However, by then, Sterling will likely have already either been booked or have recently competed against one of the two other contenders who have caught his eye: José Aldo and the current frontrunner to be his next opponent: T.J. Dillashaw.

That being said, depending on when Sterling’s next fight happens, he may still have an opening for a third fight in 2022 against a returning and very well-rested “Triple C.”
