Former UFC two-weight champion Henry Cejudo has appeared to pivot on his preferred opponent for his planned Octagon return.

Cejudo recently re-entered the USADA testing pool and plans on returning to the UFC later this year. He’s most recently called out featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski for a potential shot at becoming the UFC’s first-ever three-weight world champion.

Cejudo hasn’t fought since his successful bantamweight title defense against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. In his post-fight interview, he announced his retirement and vacated the belt just days later.

But Cejudo has remained a big part of the UFC community during his absence. As his manager Ali Abdelaziz shared in a tweet, Cejudo took another big step towards a 2022 return to MMA.

“I don’t have to say much, but this is GOAT talk,” Abdelaziz tweeted along with a photo of Cejudo and UFC matchmakers Hunter Campbell and Sean Shelby.

Cejudo added on to Abdelaziz’s tweet by calling out the current bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling for his first fight back in the UFC.

“I’m coming back for these tomato cans and I’m going to right the wrong!” Cejudo said. “Aljolame you the number one contender Bitch.”

Sterling teased interest in a fight with Cejudo following his most-recent win over Petr Yan at UFC 273. He earned the title via disqualification in his first matchup with Yan at UFC 259.

Cejudo seems to have a good relationship with Campbell and Shelby but may need to meet with UFC President Dana White before his planned return to the Octagon. White has appeared dismissive of Cejudo’s recent callouts, reiterating that Cejudo is a retired fighter.

Nevertheless, Cejudo seems serious about a return to the cage and we could see the ‘King of Cringe’ compete again sooner rather than later.

Henry Cejudo Meets UFC Brass, Targets “B*tch” Aljamain Sterling For Return Fight

Former UFC two-division champ Henry Cejudo appears to be a step closer to his return to fighting after meeting with two of the most influential men of the company.

Henry Cejudo ruled the lighter weight classes during his time in the promotion to become the champion at both flyweight and bantamweight. After winning his last outing against Dominick Cruz in 2020, Cejudo made a surprise announcement about his retirement from the sport. Many speculated about his seriousness over the decision while UFC president Dana White opted to take him on his word.

Hoping to gain more leverage in negotiations, Cejudo hung up his gloves being at the very top of his game as a double champion. This means that he will likely command more money as the promotion would have to convince him to come out of retirement with more cash. He has been teasing a comeback to fighting ever since retiring.

Earlier this month, Cejudo re-entered the USADA drug-testing pool after a two-year hiatus. Ali Abdelaziz, his manager, reported the news to ESPN after which “Triple C” took to social media to post a screenshot of the confirmation.

Abdelaziz took to Twitter to share the meeting between Henry Cejudo and two of the most powerful men in the UFC. The double champ met with UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby and Hunter Campbell, the Chief Business Officer for the promotion. Both men have garnered a notorious reputation in the community and largely dictate the careers of their fighters deciding who they will face next.

Henry Cejudo calls out “b*tch” Aljamain Sterling

Having never lost either of his belts inside the octagon, Henry Cejudo vacated them shortly after his last fight at UFC 249. ‘The Messenger’ is aiming for the current UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling for his return bout as he addressed him as “the number one contender”.

“I’m coming back for these tomato cans and I’m going to right the wrong! Aljolame you the number one contender Bitch @funkmasterMMA@danawhite

Sterling unified his UFC title with a split decision win over former interim titleholder Petr Yan at UFC 273 this month. Aljo wasted no time in responding to Cejudo with brevity.

A third fight with Yan could be on the cards but not in the near future. For his next opponent, Aljo may face T.J. Dillashaw who has remained in the mix of title contention to challenge the champion.

With Cejudo inching his way closer to being back in the UFC, it’s unclear if he could get a shot at the title or will have to start with a top contender eliminator bout as expressed by Dana White in the past.

Do you think Henry Cejudo will get a shot at Aljamain Sterling in his return?

Cejudo: Gaethje Is Oliveira’s Biggest Kryptonite, Not Makhachev

Former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo believes Justin Gaethje is the biggest threat to lightweight king Charles Oliveira’s reign, not Islam Makhachev.

To date, Oliveira has proved all of his doubters wrong. The veteran Brazilian secured his place on the 155-pound throne with a come-behind-victory over Michael Chandler last year. Seven months later, he repeated that feat by recovering from an early scare to upset the odds against Dustin Poirier.

The next test for “Do Bronx” and his impressive lightweight rule will come next month at UFC 274. In the main event, he’ll share the Octagon with former interim champion Gaethje, whose last outing saw him defeat Chandler on the scorecards following a Fight of the Year-worthy clash.

After seeing Oliveira overcome the doubts held by many to defeat two elite contenders in 2021, many are backing the Brazilian to once again display his superiority against “The Highlight.” But one former champ-champ believes Gaethje poses the biggest test for Oliveira in the division.

Cejudo: Gaethje Could “Break” Oliveira

One man who’s consistently been signaled as a sure-fire future titleholder is Islam Makhachev. With GOAT contender Khabib Nurmagomedov behind his charge up the rankings, many expect the Dagestani to follow in the footsteps of “The Eagle” and perhaps even be the one to dethrone Oliveira.

However, for former UFC flyweight and bantamweight king Henry Cejudo, Makhachev doesn’t pose the biggest threat to the reigning champion. During an interview with Helen Yee, “Triple C” branded upcoming challenger Gaethje as Oliveira’s “kryptonite.”

“Man, Gaethje’s gonna have to really kick that leg. Gaethje could actually break him (Oliveira),” suggested Cejudo. “But if Gaethje doesn’t break him, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ is too technical. He’s got too many sharp ways. He’s got so many more ways to beat him.

“I do think that Charles Oliveira’s biggest kryptonite is Justin Gaethje. I used to think it was Islam, but not no more,” admitted Cejudo. “Because he’ll (Oliveira) be happy to go to the ground with Islam, and that’s where it gets dangerous.”

Cejudo’s hypothesis will certainly be tested in the coming months, firstly when Gaethje challenges for gold at UFC 274 on May 7.

Should “Do Bronx” emerge with the gold still in his possession, we’ll likely see the victor of the re-arranged clash between Makhachev and Beneil Dariush lined up as the next number one contender.

Do you agree with Henry Cejudo? Is Justin Gaethje a tougher test for Charles Oliveira than Islam Makhachev?

Henry Cejudo is close to finalizing a new business venture with Mike Tyson.

Cejudo has been a frequent co-host on Tyson’s podcast and the two have become close. Now, ‘Triple C’ says the two of them are releasing instructional videos, with the one being on dynamic striking with Tyson showing Cejudo some of his combinations.

“Yeah, it was cool, man. So me and Tyson, we’re gonna start an instructional DVD together with dynamic striking. And it’s actually Mike Tyson teaching me a lot of his combinations,” Cejudo said on Triple C & The Schmo (via Essentially Sports). “As you watch guys like Larry Holmes, a lot of the knockouts that he’s done. Like literally Mike Tyson to be walking us through of what he’s done and one and what one other than Triple C meant to be in there.

“And you know, it’s legendary man. It’s a legendary moment because Mike Tyson has never done any instructional videos. This will be the first time in Mike Tyson’s career that he’s coming up with an instructional boxing DVD based on his style of boxing.”

If Tyson and Cejudo do end up releasing this, it does seem like a lot of fans would buy it to learn striking from of the best heavyweight boxers of all time.

As for Henry Cejudo, he recently revealed he is re-entering the USADA testing pool as he is looking to return to fighting in the very near future. He has been vocal about wanting to fight Alexander Volkanovski but perhaps he returns to bantamweight and tries to reclaim his bantamweight title.

For now, Cejudo is doing his show and now working on this business venture with Mike Tyson. Along with that, he has become one of the main coaches at Fight Ready and has recruited a ton of top talent to the gym.

Will you be buying this DVD instructional video with Mike Tyson and Henry Cejudo?
