And in quite spectacular, surprising fashion — Jiri Prochazka — renowned as one of the most dangerous strikers in the light heavyweight division, submits grappling veteran, Glover Teixeira with a late, fifth round rear-naked choke — without hooks, to successfully land undisputed gold in a drawn-out, blood-and-guts UFC 275 headliner in Singapore.
Maintaining his undefeated record in the Octagon and improving to 3-0 as a result, Prochazka and Teixeira constantly had each other in peril throughout the five round main event, with both rocking, stunning, and wobbling each other on cue throughout the back-and-forth headliner.
Rounding out a surefire contender for Fight of the Year, Prochazka, who becomes the first champion from the Czech Republic in the history of the organization — managed to lock up a rear-naked choke, without hooks on either side, forcing a submission from the Brazilian — as Prochazka mints himself as the new king of the light heavyweights.

Former undisputed UFC strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk has announced her retirement from professional mixed martial arts tonight in Singapore following her second round spinning back-fist knockout loss to fellow former titleholder, Zhang Weili on the main card of UFC 275.
Osztyn native, Jedrzejczyk, started brightly in her highly-anticipated rematch against Weili — landing a series of punishing leg kicks, jabs, and some notable, heavy counters.
However, midway through the opening frame, the Pole was taken to the canvas by Weili courtesy of a takedown, with the Hebei native landing a series of elbows to steal the opening round.
Half way through the second round, however, during an exchange near the Octagon fence, and overzealous, Jedrzejczyk walked onto a spinning back-fist from Weili — sending her crashing to the canvas as she suffered the first KO loss of her professional mixed martial arts career.
Following the defeat to Weili, Jedrzejczyk confirmed her retirement from professional mixed martial arts during her post-fight interview with UFC color commentator, Daniel Cormier.

Despite landing a close, argued split decision (48-47, 47-48, 48-47) victory over the #2 ranked former bantamweight champion, Holly Holm during last night’s UFC Vegas 55 main event, surging Brazilian contender, Ketlen Vieira claims she felt a “light tap” from the Albuquerque native during a standing rear-naked choke attempt.
Ketlen Vieira, who landed her seventh Octagon victory in last night’s main event victory, managed to just about scrape by with a close split decision win against Holm – adding the former undisputed bantamweight titleholder to a prior unanimous judging win against another former gold holder, common-foe, Miesha Tate in November of last year.
The Brazilian received some criticizm from her head coach, Andre Pederneiras ahead of the fifth and final frame at the UFC Apex facility, with the Octagon veteran insisting that his student was likely three rounds down to former titleholder, Holm, however, two of three judges sitting Octagon side handed Vieira the victory in the form of a split decision win.
Ketlen Vieira questions if Holly Holm actually tapped during their UFC Vegas 55 main event
Reflecting on her performance and win during her media availability backstage following UFC Vegas 55, Vieira claimed that during a notable standing rear-naked choke attempt, Holm, who managed to survive and grit through – that she had felt a “light tap”.
“I felt pretty good about that and I thought that she (Holly Holm) actually was doing a light tap,” Ketlen Vieira told assembled media. “I saw the ref come in close and when I looked over to see him coming close that’s when I think she took the opportunity because I looked away from what was going on and she escaped me.”
Vieira claimed that throughout the main event clash, Holm had attempted to stall and turn the fight into something of an “antigame”. “I think she was doing more of an “antigame”, we use that term for soccer,” Kelten Vieira said. “That’s what she was doing, she was basically trying to neutralize me. She was just pressing me against the cage but nothing was happening, she just wanted me to stop fighting and I think that the judges actually saw that.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Brazilian contender, Ketlen Vieira may have very well leapfrogged former undisputed bantamweight champion into the #2 position in the official rankings come next week — managing to defeat the former gold holder in a close, back-and-forth split decision (48-47, 47-48, 48-47) to round out tonight’s UFC Vegas 55 card.
Vieira, who headlined for the second consecutive outing tonight, most recently defeated former bantamweight champion, common-opponent, Miesha Tate with a unanimous decision win back in November of last year.
Utilizing her cinch work when prompted, Vieira was forced to work defensively from that position at the Octagon fence on occasion, however managed to land a couple of takedowns to force Holm to defend from her back, as well as almost wrapping up a rear-naked choke from a standing position.
Despite concern from her coach and head cornerman, Andre Pederneiras before the fifth and final round, Vieira, who entered tonight’s headlining clash as the #6 ranked bantamweight challenger — managed to land her seventh UFC victory — and second straight win over a former division titleholder.

Michel Pereira continues his run through the welterweight ranks of the UFC — this time securing the most high-profile victory of his Octagon tenure in the form of a hard-fought split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) victory against Argentine veteran, Santiago Ponzinibbio in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 55.
Pereira, who entered tonight’s co-main event slot against Ponzinibbio off the back of his February win over recent winner, Portuguese standout, Andre Fialho, managed to get the better of the Argentinian in the opening frame, before giving up the second round in a largely tight and close fight throughout.
Landing impactful strikes in the third, Pereira managed to leave the UFC Apex facility with his winning streak in tact — and now riding a five fight surge, Pereira echoed call outs of former welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal, and Stockton fan favorite, Nate Diaz.

Making good on his move to the UFC — Chidi Njokuani, the younger brother of Octagon alum, Anthony Njokuani — has his second victory under the promotion’s banner, this time stopping Serbian contender, Dusko Todorovic with a devastating first round step-in elbow knockout at UFC Vegas 55.
Njokuani, an alum of both Bellator MMA and Dana White‘s Contender Series — debuted in the Octagon back in February, stopping Marc-Andre Barriault with a series of strikes in just 16 seconds, however, this time out against Todorovic — he was almost forced to the second round.
The renowned kickboxer showed off his offensive grappling chops in the early exchanges, attempting to setup first a guillotine, and then transitioning to a D’Arce choke which ultimately failed.
After a lengthy spell at the Octagon fence in the clinch, Njokuani found some separation, and following a series of knee strikes, exploded with a massive right elbow — dropping Todorovic with just 12 seconds remaining in the opening round to land his second UFC victory.
