UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has poked fun at division contender, Dricus du Plessis after the South African underwent a surgical procedure to address a nose injury, which reportedly limited him to just eight per cent oxygen intake during his Octagon tenure.

Adesanya, the current and two-time undisputed middleweight champion, recently headlined UFC 287 against Alex Pereira, reclaiming his undisputed title with a second round knockout win over the Brazilian.

In the immediate aftermath of the Miami, Florida main event, Israel Adesanya was linked with a slew of next outings, including a return to light heavyweight in pursuit of a title fight with Jamahal Hill – as well as a title defense at 185lbs against South African contender, du Plessis.

In the midst of a five-fight winning run, du Plesiss, the current #6 ranked challenger managed to land recent victories over both Darren Till, and Derek Brunson since December of last year.

And welcoming a title defense against the Pethora native off the back of his win over arch-rival, Pereira, Adesanya claimed he would drag the carcass of du Plessis across his native country – leading to a heated response from the latter.

Recently undergoing a surgical procedure in order to address a nose injury which reportedly limited him to just an eight per cent oxygen intake over the last three years of his career, du Plessis’ issue was mocked and poked fun at by Adesanya on his official social media.

“Lol he (Dricus du Plessis) only on 8%” Israel Adesanya tweeted. “Look at my nostrils.”

Undisputed middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has been criticized by past-opponent, former titleholder, Robert Whittaker for “holding a grudge” against the son of former champion, Alex Pereira at UFC 287 – after the City Kickboxing staple pointed a mocking celebration in search of Alessandro Pereira.

Adesanya, the current undisputed middleweight champion and two-time titleholder under the banner of the organization, headlined UFC 287 earlier this month in a title rematch against Pereira – reclaiming the title with a thunderous second round KO win over the Brazilian.

Landing his first victory over Pereira as part of their four-fight series throughout their kickboxing and mixed martial arts careers, Israel Adesanya rallied from a first round deficit against the Sao Paulo native – turning in a devastating second round knockout win over Pereira in Miami, Florida.

Israel Adesanya has been slammed by former-foe, Robert Whittaker

Confirming his pointed celebration was aimed at Alessandro Pereira, critics – including former undisputed middleweight champion, Whittaker hit out at Adesanya for holding a grudge against the teenager.

“The bit with (Alex) Pereira’s son was a bit petty,” Robert Whittaker told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “He (Israel Adesanya) said it himself, he’s a petty dude – but, dude, you can’t hold a grudge on five-year-olds. If I held a grudge with every five-year-old that p*ssed me off, I’d be fighting for the next 40 years of my life.”

“To everyone listening and watching, that doesn’t make it a good thing,” Whittaker explained. “Don’t get confused, just because he does it and admits it like a champ, doesn’t mean it’s a good thing – don’t be petty. Can I just clarify something? He said he’s petty – he admitted it with such energy.”

Calling for a third championship fight with the Nigerian-Kiwi off the back of UFC 287 – Whittaker claims to have taken inspiration from the former’s title victory and redemption against Pereira, claiming he will only himself need three chances to hand Adesanya his second middleweight loss in professional mixed martial arts

Israel Adesanya scored his second knockout this month, delivering a series of brutal blows to his ex-girlfriend on Instagram.

Fresh on the heels of his highlight-reel-worthy second-round knockout of longtime rival Alex Pereira at UFC 287, ‘The Last Stylebender’ returned to New Zealand, receiving a warrior’s welcome after reclaiming the middleweight crown. However, the two-time titleholder’s celebration was short-lived as evidenced by a series of awkward social media posts aimed at his former squeeze.

Israel Adesanya is typically known for keeping his personal life under lock and key from the public but in a truly out-of-character incident, the ‘Stylebender’ went off on fellow New Zealander and ex-girlfriend Charlotte Powdrell.

Israel Adesanya Seemingly Threatens Legal Action Against Ex-Girlfriend

“You don’t care about my life cuz you’ve sold info about me, so I don’t care about yours. I don’t even hate; I just don’t care about you. I’ve not been in love with you for a while. In summary, I’m glad this happened. I wouldn’t change a f*cking thing,” Adesanya posted on Instagram.

“Me loading up receipts…. Y’all shoulda left me the f*ck alone! I got time and I got lawyer money”

“Women’s ‘Standards ‘ are merely fairytales they have after living in a nightmare.” “LOL women…”

Screenshots of Israel Adesanya’s scathing remarks can be found here courtesy of Sportskeeda. It’s uncertain what caused the falling out between the two, but it’s clear that things are no longer what they once were for the former couple.

Despite the personal issues that appear to be plaguing ‘The Last Stylebender’ at the moment, the reigning middleweight world champion is still riding high with a lot more to look forward to following his world title win at UFC 287. It was recently revealed that Adesanya would have his own documentary debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival this June. And if things go according to plan, we’ll see him back inside the Octagon within the next few months as reports indicate that ‘Stylebender’ is chomping at the bit to compete before the summer season comes to a close.

Fans will get an inside look at the most intimate moments of Israel Adesanya‘s life and career thanks to a new documentary chronicling the two-time middleweight champion’s rise to fame and fortune.

Renowned combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani shared the film’s official poster on Twitter. He also revealed that the documentary will have its official premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this summer.

“Israel Adesanya’s feature film documentary is premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 11,” Helwani tweeted. “This is something they’d been working on since 2018.”

In a follow-up tweet, Helwani provided some additional details regarding the documentary, including a quote from Adesanya’s co-manager who shared some insight into the subject matter.

“The film follows Israel through the ups and downs of his childhood and career tapping into masculinity, bullying, mental health, and the art of fighting and dance,” Israel’s business partner, co-manager, and long-time friend Ash Belcastro said.

“… Credit to everyone involved, really excited to see Israel’s amazing journey come to life,” he added.

Israel Adesanya is Already Chomping at the Bit to Get Back Inside the Octagon

This summer could prove to be the biggest yet for Israel Adesanya. Aside from the debut of his documentary, ‘The Last Stylebender’ is determined to get back inside the Octagon within the next few months. UFC President Dana White revealed that the 185-pound king had already been blowing up his phone looking for a fight.

Adesanya, of course, is fresh on the heels of his stunning second-round knockout against longtime rival Alex Pereira at UFC 287 earlier this month. Having already cleared out the middleweight division, ‘Stylebender’ is eyeing two-division glory, potentially challenging light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill. ‘Sweet Dreams’ has already expressed his own interest in mixing it up with Adesanya. Without a clear-cut contender at 205, a champion vs. champion clash this summer seems like a perfect fit for both men and the promotion who is undoubtedly desperate to find a big-money fight for International Fight Week.

Jon Anik almost falls out of seat at UFC 287 commentary reaction Israel Adesanya KO

Israel Adesanya’s incredible second-round knockout of Alex Pereira at UFC 287 earlier this month made UFC play-by-play man Jon Anik nearly fall out of his chair.

Perhaps one of the best things about witnessing a highlight-reel knockout inside the Octagon is the video feed that shows the immediate reaction of the event’s commentary team. To celebrate Israel Adesanya reclaiming the UFC middleweight championship, the promotion released a video clip on Twitter highlighting the always-entertaining reactions of Jon Anik, Joe Rogan, and Daniel Cormier immediately following the knockout blow delivered by ‘The Last Stylebender.’

In a hilarious turn of events, the moment took commentator Jon Anik out of his chair and nearly into the stands, though it looked like Joe Rogan may have given him a little shove in the process. We’re certain it was unintentional, but funny nevertheless.

What Comes Next for Israel Adesanya After Reclaiming the UFC Middleweight Championship?

With his victory at UFC 287, Israel Adesanya finally broke through, scoring his first win over longtime rival Alex Pereira after going 0-3 against the Brazilian boogeyman dating back to their days under the GLORY Kickboxing banner. Despite being deadlocked at 1-1 inside the Octagon, don’t hold your breath for a potential trilogy bout. Alex Pereira has already confirmed that his next matchup will be at light heavyweight. ‘Poatan’ left the door open for a potential return to middleweight, but if he finds success at 205, it’s unlikely that he would come back down for anything other than a potential ‘champ-champ’ opportunity.

Back on top of the middleweight division, many fans wonder what will be next for ‘The Last Stylebender’ considering he’s already cleared out a majority of the division. A third meeting with perennial contender Robert Whittaker is always a possibility, but it sounds like Adesanya has his own eyes locked on becoming a two-division titleholder. With light heavyweight king Jamahal Hill currently in limbo with no clear contender, a champion vs. champion clash between himself and Israel Adesanya could be in the cards.

Robert Whittaker calls for third fight with Israel Adesanya I wanna beat him for title UFC

Former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker says he is persistent to defeat anyone in the way of a trilogy with Israel Adesanya.

‘The Reaper’ has had a very eventful and successful UFC career, but much of it has been overlooked due to his history with current champion Adesanya.

Since 2014, Robert Whittaker has torn through the division, only falling short to Adesanya during that time period.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Robert Whittaker admitted that it could potentially be difficult to convince the UFC and its fans why a trilogy would be necessary, therefore he is prepared to eliminate anyone in his way out of title contention.

“I understand the position that I’m in. I understand that I fought him twice and I want that third fight. And if I have to ruin a lot of other people’s days to get it then I’ll do that.

The Australian fighter says winning back his UFC gold was always the goal, but following UFC 287 he became laser focused on specifically taking it back from Adesanya.

“I really want to fight ‘Izzy’ again. I really want to fight him specifically,” Whittaker said. “I wanna beat him for the title.

With many overlooking his chances at a title due to his knockout and decision losses to ‘The Last Stylebender’, fans often forget that no one else has really been able to solve the Whittaker puzzle.

He may not be getting any younger but at 32-years-old it’s safe to say he may still have plenty in the tank.

Bobby Knuckles first went head-to-head against Adesanya in a record-setting Oceania spectacle with over 57,000 people in attendance.
