UFC middleweight contender, Darren Till has promised to come back “stronger” following his most recent injury setback, after the Liverpool native was forced to withdraw from a scheduled UFC Fight Night London co-headliner against Jack Hermasson on July 23. in the English capital.

Darren Till, the current #9 ranked middleweight contender, has been sidelined since September of last year where he headlined UFC Vegas 36 against division veteran, Derek Brunson, suffering a rather one-sided third round rear-naked choke submission loss.

Following the bout, Till’s head coach, Team Kaobon trainer, Colin Heron confirmed that his student had entered the main event clash with Brunson off the back of another knee injury – initially suffered in his July 2020 ‘Fight Island’ defeat to former champion, Robert Whittaker

In the time since his defeat in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and before his loss to Brunson, the Liverpool striker had been forced from another slated fight with Hermansson due to another knee injury, while a title-eliminator against Marvin Vettori was shelved after Till fractured his collarbone ahead of the main event ABC matchup.

Chris Curtis replaces Darren Till on July 23. against Jack Hermansson

Off the back of Till’s withdrawal from his rescheduled matchup with Hermansson, the promotion swiftly moved to replace the Liverpudlian with surging veteran Ohio native, Chris Curtis who fights the #8 ranked Swede in a huge co-main event landing pad.

Addressing his latest injury setback after a lenghty run of woes, Till shared footage of himself lying in a hospital bed, with nurses and doctors appearing to attend to the striker’s right knee.

“Be back stronger (thumbs up emoji),” Darren Till tweeted. “Thanks for messages of support everyone…”

In his most recent professional victory, Till managed to defeat one-time interim title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum in his middleweight divisional bow back in November at UFC 244.

Darren Till is forced out with an injury for his co-main event bout against Jack Hermansson at UFC London on July 23rd.

Till unfortunately will not be able to fight in his home country this month, in a much anticipated return to the octagon. It was first reported by ESPN’s Marc Raimondi that Till suffered an undisclosed injury that would force him out of the fight.

‘The Gorilla’ hasn’t fought inside the octagon since September of 2021, when he lost to Derek Brunson via rear naked choke. He unfortunately suffered a torn ACL in his right knee that fight and has spent a lot of time rehabbing his knee in preparation for this fight.

Till has lost four of his last five fights, losing against Tyron Woodley, Jorge Masvidal, Robert Whittaker, and Brunson. He was finished in three of those fights, Whittaker was the only fighter out of the four that went to a decision with him.

Till has also been working in the gym with UFC sensation, Khamzat Chimaev. He has been training relentlessly to get better and even was in Chimaev’s corner when he fought Gilbert Burns.

With Darren Till’s injury, it looks as if the UFC may have a fighter lined up to fight Hermansson

It looks like Chris Curtis as of now, will be stepping up to take on Hermansson. Curtis has been on fire recently as he has won eight straight fights.

He is coming off a win just two weeks ago, where he took home a unanimous decision victory. He had knocked out Phil Hawes and Brendan Allen before his last fight.

Hermansson himself is coming off of a split decision loss against Sean Strickland. Hermansson has taken some tough fights against the top of the division, but he has unfortunately fallen short on those attempts.

Undefeated UFC welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev has been pictured training alongside middleweight contender, Jack Hermansson – ahead of the former Cage Warriors champion’s UFC London clash with Chimaev’s friend and training partner, Darren Till in July – leading to speculation that there has been a rift between the duo.

Khamzat Chimaev, the current #3 ranked welterweight contender, turned in his fifth consecutive victory under the UFC banner back in April at UFC 273 – defeating one-time title challenger, Gilbert Burns with a close, unanimous decision after a back-and-forth war.

As for Hermansson, the Uddevalla-born contender is scheduled to return at The O2 Arena next month against Till – attempting to return to the win column following a February decision loss against upcoming feature, Sean Strickland.

For Liverpool native, Till, the Team Kaobon staple has been sidelined with a series of injuries over the last two years – and attempts to snap a run of losses against both Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson in his July return against Hermansson.

Speculation has risen, however, pertaining to a potential rift between Khamzat Chimaev and Darren Till, when footage emerged this week of the undefeated Chechen-born contender, training alongside Hermansson – who is set to share the Octagon with Till next month.

Khamzat Chimaev verbally agreed to share the Octagon with Belal Muhammad ahead of a UFC 281 card in October

Yet to book a return since his impressive win over Burns, Chimaev has been linked with a slew of matchups next in a bid to secure his status as a title challenger at welterweight, including pairings with the likes of Colby Covington, Nate Diaz, and a UFC 281 clash with Belal Muhammad in October on ‘Fight Island’.

Prior to his win over Burns, Chiamev landed a quartet of one-sided wins over Li Jingliang, Gerald Meerschaert, Rhys McKee, and John Philips – the last two of those victories, just 10 days apart.

Darren Till and Jack Hermansson have teased fans through a number of social media posts about a potential summer bout.

Days ago, Team Kaobon announced that Darren Till had begun fight camp, but with no indication of the opponent. However, Till shared a screenshot on to his Instagram story of a text received by ‘Gaffa’, which is believed to be by his head coach Colin Heron, reading: “Hermansson has accepted Maynard said you can have the main no problem?”.

Darren Till vs. Jack Hermansson?

With the UFC rumored to return to London on July 23, it’s a high possibility that Till and Hermansson headline the card. This will mark the second time Till and Hermansson have been set to fight one another, with the pairing being scheduled to headline a UFC Fight Night event in Las Vegas in 2020. The Scouser was forced to withdraw due to injury.

Hermanson gladly played along with Till, dropping subtle hints on social media about the matchup, posting a picture captioned: “Darren?”.

Till hasn’t fought since suffering a tough loss to Derek Brunson in September of last year. ‘The Gorilla’ has undertaken a period on the sidelines to recover from a torn ACL and, in that time, has made a viral addition to his training routine by becoming friends with Khamzat Chimaev. The 29-year-old still has aspirations of becoming a champion and claimed after attaining a run of consecutive wins, the Israel Adesanya talks can begin.

On the other hand, Hermansson is also looking to get back to winning ways after undergoing a slight dip in consistency. The Swede’s last outing resulted in a split decision loss to Sean Strickland in February this year. A statement victory over Till would put ‘The Joker’ back in the conversation for the next title contender.

How do you think a fight between Darren Till and Jack Hermansson plays out if the fight is to materialize?
