Former multiple organization MMA world champion Ben Askren looks set to don the boxing gloves and enter the ring against YouTube sensation and controversial boxer Jake Paul.

In a video posted to his Twitter earlier today Askren responded to a flyer that had been posted accepting the bout against “pretend athlete” Jake Paul.

“I know you called me out after your fight with that bum Nate Robinson,” Askren said. “Listen, it’s a pretty simple choice. I’m gonna make a whole bunch of money to beat up a guy who is pretending to be an athlete because at the end of the day that is what you’re doing, and I know you may think I don’t have too many standup skills but also at the end of the day I don’t need to.”

“I’m a world-class athlete I’ve won NCAA titles I’ve been to the Olympics, I’ve won belts in multiple MMA organizations and quite frankly I am impressed that you’ve diluted yourself into thinking you are actually a fighter, that you are really tough, that you can really box, It’s quite impressive that beating up another YouTuber and beating up a boxer that looks like he’s never been in the ring before makes you good at boxing. So yes, Jake I accept. I will see you March 28 in Las Angeles and I will humble you like millions of people want to see happen.”

The bout began to circulate the web today after Former MMA fighter and current commentator Chael Sonnen posted the flyer on his Twitter with a caption explaining that Jake Pail doesn’t trust the media to spread the word of the fight and that after this he would take on Bellator prospect Dillon Danis.

Currently, Jake Paul is yet to confirm the bout and no further information has been revealed on the topic.

It looks like we’re going to see Jake Paul and Ben Askren collide in a boxing match.

On Tuesday, Chael Sonnen claimed to relay a message from Paul stating that he was first boxing Askren on March 28 in Los Angeles before going on to face Dillon Danis.

“. @jakepaul doesn’t trust many in the media to spread the word…. I was told “Ben then Dillion.””

Of course, not many in the combat sports world took it seriously as fight posters and claims that a fight is on is pretty common.

However, Askren seemingly hinted that it was legitimate when asked by BJ Penn for comment.

“I think so. He needs to get beat up,” Askren said when asked if the fight was happening.

He also revealed his hip — one of the main reasons he retired from mixed martial arts — was doing much better.

Given that the fight poster posted by Sonnen had Triller on it — who recently promoted the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. event in which Paul competed in the co-main event — it’s possible this is a legitimate fight after all.

For now, all we can do is wait for more updates.

Jake Paul says he has billionaire investors ready to back him and make the Conor McGregor fight a reality.

The YouTube star has been calling out McGregor since his second-round knockout of former NBA star Nate Robinson on November 28. It was the second win of his career, after stopping fellow internet celebrity AnEsonGib in the first round of his pro debut. Immediately after beating Robinson, Paul was quick to challenge a number of MMA stars to step in the boxing ring with him, including Jorge Masvidal, Dillon Danis, and McGregor. When asked about his offer by TMZ, Paul wanted to make sure everyone knows his offer is serious.

“It’s real as f—,” Paul said. “I’m backed by billionaires, commercial real estate billionaires. We’ve got proof.”

Paul then proceeded to pull out his phone and showed off an email he claims to be from New York Signature Bank.

The e-mail states the Paul’s investor “has liquid balances in excess of $50MM.” The name of the investor has been blacked out.

“This is real deal s—,” Paul continued. “He’s a p—-, he’s a little b—-. This is the biggest fight he’s ever been offered.”

When asked what his team had heard from McGregor’s camp, Paul said it’s been radio silence from the former two-division UFC champ, and he thinks he knows why.

“When we sent them the proof of funds, they put their tail between their ass and they’re like, ‘Oh s—, this little crazy kid ain’t playing’… He’s scared, bro. Scared to lose. And I think Dana White’s being like, ‘Well, what happens if Jake Paul lands that lucky punch, knocks Conor McGregor out, and now the whole UFC looks like a clown?”

Paul was also asked about the comments he made towards McGregor’s fiancé. He refused to apologize, and called out the hypocrisy of those who have been criticizing his words.

“(McGregor) spoke on Khabib (Nurmagomedov)’s wife. He said Khabib’s wife looks like a towel,” Paul answered. “Now he’s going to have a taste of his own medicine, and now all of the sudden people are butt-hurt. I’m going too far? F— off. This is the fight game. Why are people being b—— now all of the sudden? Same with Dillon Danis. They’vs said f—– up s— about religion, Khabib’s religion… F— those guys!”

We’ll have to wait and see if Paul really does have the financial support he claims to have and what McGregor’s response will be. Until then, both men are sure to be busy. McGregor has his rematch against Dustin Poirier coming up on January 23, and Paul is sure to be helping his brother Logan prepare for his boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. If the McGregor fight fails to come together, there’s another former UFC champion who would be more than happy to meet Paul in the boxing ring.

UFC commentator and popular podcaster Joe Rogan has weighed in on the ongoing beef between Bellator fighter Dillon Danis and internet celebrity turned professional boxer Jake Paul.

The 23-year-old moved into boxing earlier this year and has quickly amassed a 2-0 record with two knockouts against novice fighters. Paul most recently scores a vicious, highlight-reel knockout against former NBA player Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr.

Post-fight Paul called out SBG teammates Dillon Danis and Conor McGregor. Earlier this week he came after both fighters, firstly making a public fight offer to McGregor of $50 million. A day later he pulled up on Danis who was filming Food Truck Diaries with Brendan Schaub, insulted him, and threw water balloons and toilet paper at him.

On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan reacted to the alteration and predicted Danis would seriously hurt Paul if they had gotten into a street fight

“Dillon Danis ran up to him and he sped away,” Rogan said. “Why didn’t he get out and fight him?”

“Let me tell you something, Dillon Danis gets ahold of you, you’re either getting your arms broken, you’re neck strangled off—your head’s going to get popped like a zit—[or] he’s going to rip your knees apart,” Rogan said. “There’s not a f**king chance in the world [Paul would beat Danis in a street fight]. Dillon Danis is a world class grappler. Top of the food chain.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

Danis is a Bellator prospect and jiu-jitsu black belt who owns a perfect MMA record of 2-0. Both wins have come inside the first round via submission. He last fought in June 2019. In March he underwent a seven-hour reconstructive knee surgery which ruled him out of action in 2020.

After weeks of calling out MMA stars, it looks like the Paul brothers have finally found a dance partner in Michael Bisping.

The UFC Hall of Famer and former middleweight champion amassed a 30-9 record during his career. He earned victories over the likes of Luke Rockhold, Dan Henderson, and Anderson Silva before retiring off the heels of losses to fellow Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre and Kelvin Gastelum in 2017. Since then, Bisping has made a career as an analyst and commentator for the UFC, appeared in a number of movies and TV shows, and hosts his Believe You Me podcast. On his latest episode, he took the time to address the Paul brothers and their foray into boxing (H/T BJPenn).

Logan and Jake Paul have undoubtedly managed to turn their internet celebrity into successful boxing careers. Logan’s pro debut – which he would lose to fellow YouTube star KSI – headlined a card which also featured bouts for WBO and WBC titles. Jake was recently on the undercard of the Mike Tyson – Roy Jones Jr. superfight in just his second professional bout. Both brothers have put their sights on MMA stars for their next fight, especially Jake, who has engaged in a back-and-forth with another former champion in Chris Weidman, and attacked Bellator star Dillon Danis with water balloons. After apparently reaching out to Bisping’s manager, it looks like the brothers have finally found a willing opponent.

“Jake Paul, if you want to f*cking go, Logan Paul, if you want to go, then I guess you have to put your hands in your pockets and man up,” Bisping said. “Because you’re talking shit, you’re contacting my manager saying that you want to fight. Well, guess what, buddy? I’m here. I’m going nowhere. You want to fight someone? You want to test yourself? Hey, I’m 0-0 as a boxer. You’re saying you’re 1-0, you’re 2-0, I’m 0-0.”

“At the end of the day, if you want to do this, stop playing games,” The Count continued. “You want to do it? I’ll do it. I’m here. No problem. Okay? I’m almost 42-years old, I’m a former world champion and I will take you to school, my friend. And I’ll guarantee you this. You won’t get out of three rounds. That’s an absolute fact. You won’t get out of one round but we’ll say three just to give you that little insurance blanket. If this is a real offer, let me know and we’ll do it. 100 percent. Logan Paul or Jake Paul, or both.”

A fight between Bisping and either Paul brother is sure to be a massive draw, especially if they can book the fight in England. While there are bound to be some detractors, history has shown that these are the types of fights people want to see; even Vitor Belfort has said he believes YouTube stars could be the future of boxing and MMA.

The Paul brothers have yet to respond to Bisping’s offer.

We all got to see Logan Paul’s angle of his attack on Dillon Danis. Now we can see things from Showtime’s angle.

Paul made headlines recently when he attacked Danis with a water balloon in a drive-by while the latter was filming an episode of Food Truck Diaries with Brendan Schaub.

It seemed to further escalate their feud as Paul had recently been calling for a boxing match with Conor McGregor in addition to Danis.

However, many observers also felt it was a staged moment and that seems to be even more so the case now that we can see things from the perspective of Danis.

After the attack, Danis and Schaub discussed what had happened.

“I was going to try and jump on the truck but I couldn’t get it,” Danis said. “… I don’t think he would actually box me, either.”

“You don’t think Jake will?” Schaub responded. “But the thing is, that’s going to get them millions of views and when you guys fight, that translates to dollars for you.”

“I wish he would have gotten out,” Danis said before asking Schaub if he had a car to follow them.
