Sean Strickland barred from fighting Jake Paul

The UFC stopped Sean Strickland from accepting Jake Paul’s $1 million challenge to fight him in Puerto Rico.

Paul laid down the offer after footage of the former middleweight world champion pummeling Rumble streamer Sneako spread across social media. ‘The Problem Child’ dubbed Strickland a “bully” and delivered the challenge on X. Unsurprisingly, ‘Tarzan’ responded with a quasi-death threat, but as it turns out, Strickland actually reached out to the UFC to see if he could get the go-ahead.

“So Jake Paul offered me a million dollars, knowing it is impossible for me to do that,” Strickland explained on his YouTube channel. “I actually talked to [UFC Chief Business Officer] Hunter [Campbell], and I was like ‘Hunter, I will fight this man. You let Conor McGregor fight [Floyd] Mayweather, this is an easier fight, easier money, can I do that?’

“Hunter explained to me that [Paul] sells no fights. When they have fights, they give away tickets. He doesn’t make money. His target audience is children. They don’t buy pay-per-views.

“So a little depressing, because I thought to myself, you know what? I’ll take a payday beating up this f*cking man. That sounds easy enough. But sadly, Jake Paul is an influencer. He sells to children. Children don’t buy pay-per-views. F*ck, I don’t know man, get some adults to follow you, and then we will fight.”

UFC contracts are known to be quite restrictive, requiring fighters to get permission for any type of combat sports-related activities that occur outside of the Octagon. As a result, Strickland offered Paul the option to meet mono-e-mono far away from the spotlights and grand stages.

“Here’s the thing Jake Paul, you clearly know I can’t fight you,” Strickland said. “We know this. The UFC knows this. We all know this, that me and you cannot fight. But what we can do — you can get in your fancy plane, you can fly your ass to Vegas, and we can have a little pow-wow. Because you know as well as I know what happens with that.

“I’ll do it for free. I don’t need a check. I don’t need to livestream it. I will do it for free, sir. So if that is something you want, you want to show everyone how big and hard that d*ck is, let me know when.”

With nothing to gain financially, don’t expect Jake Paul to accept Strickland’s offer. ‘Tarzan’ likely knows that, but it didn’t stop him from taking a parting shot at the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

“Jake Paul, I got knocked out by a world champion kickboxer — a two-time UFC champion,” Strickland said, referencing his past fight with Alex Pereira. “You got beat by a part-time boxer [Tommy Fury] you used to try and pad your record.

“You’re an embarrassment to yourself. You’re an embarrassment to me, and you’re an embarrassment to the world. Enjoy” (h/t MMA Fighting).

Sean Strickland threatens to take Jake Paul’s life after ‘The Problem Child’ lays down $1 million challenge

Sean Stricklanda and Jake Paul

Jake Paul thinks Sean Strickland is a bully. And ‘The Problem Child’ doesn’t like bullies.

On Friday, the former middleweight world champion made headlines once again after footage emerged of him putting a beating on popular Rumble streamer Sneako. The two had met a month prior at an event and Strickland reportedly invited him to hit the gym and go a few rounds.

Once Strickland had Sneako locked inside a cage, all the pleasantries were out the door.

Strickland bloodied and battered the kid, prompting many people within the MMA community to offer Strickland a round of applause. However, not everybody was amused. Jake Paul took to social media and slammed ‘Tarzan’ for going hard on a kid with little to no experience.

Paul then offered to fly Strickland out to Puerto Rico so they could have their own hard sparring session in front of cameras.

“Shawn Strickland you’re embarrassing for trying to stop sneako like that you weren’t even able to drop someone with no experience while going all out,” Paul wrote on X in response to the clip.

“You’re a horrid boxer that only picks on inexperienced people.. I’ll fly you to PR and we can fight on camera… if you win I’ll give you $1 million (half your net worth) But if you get dropped you have to get Betr tattooed on you. DM me. But just like paddy I’m guessing you’ll find a way to run.”

‘The Problem Child’ followed up his initial post with another, labeling Strickland as a bully.

“I hate bullies,” Paul added. “I was bullied and then was the bully sometimes in my YouTuber days. But now all my energy is focused on Boxing Bullies @Boxingbullies and helping the youth. But when I see someone like Strickland constantly bullying people, it’s time to bully back.”

Of course, it didn’t take long for Sean Strickland to snap back at Paul, making light of the YouTuber’s loss to Tommy Fury last year.

“You lost to a part time boxer….. lmao……… don’t forget that,” Strickland wrote.

Sean Strickland didn’t stop there

The ex-champ was far from done, laying into Jake Paul in a series of expletive-filled posts and expressing his desire to take the boxer’s life.

“Real talk… jokes aside.. Jake Paul is an utter fucking joke,” Strickland added. “You box small retired old mma fighters and you sell sugar water to kids.. If it were legal I’d take your fucking life with a smile on my face. Is there any place on this earth I can take this man’s life and walk?

“Actually Jake I’ll make you a better deal because money can’t buy happiness and you have plenty of it and youre still a cunt……. No cameras, me and you in a desert…. That would buy my happiness… No Instagram, no likes, no games…. Just you that’s what I want…….

“I want to conclude this, I want you all to understand the phenomenon that is Jake. You’re a professional troll, you fight retired small MMA fighters because you’re a troll but the worst part of it all is that you’re a cancer. You inspire people to accomplish nothing, to be nothing. You inspire people to be trolls because you were successful at it. Jake Paul you might be rich but you’re not man, you byproduct of society that has fallen. Your trolls will rally around you and be inspired to be like you but understand one thing, you and your troll army are not my equals. Enjoy your virtual world with the understanding that you’re a cancer on this country. Money will never buy you dignity. Enjoy.

Jake Paul faces former Golden Gloves champion in his return to the boxing ring on March 2

Jake Paul will return to the boxing ring for a clash with former Golden Gloves champion Ryan Bourland.

As announced by ‘The Problem Child’ on social media, Paul will feature in the co-main event of the Amanda Serrano vs. Nina Meinke fight card in San Juan, Puerto Rico on March 2. The bout will come three months following the YouTuber’s first-round knockout of Andre August in December.

Jake Paul is 8-1 in his pro boxing career. After earning victories over a slew of past-their-prime MMA stars, including Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz, ‘The Problem Child’ has put his focus on facing legitimate boxers in hopes of one day winning a world title.

“I’ve always said my goal is to become a world champion,” Paul said in a statement. “I beat a pro boxer in December in the first round, someone who’s been boxing their entire life, and what did I do next? I went straight back to camp to get ready to face my next opponent, a professional boxer who has twice as many professional fights under his belt than I do.

“It’s a new year, it’s an even better me, and I’m facing an even more experienced, seasoned boxer on Saturday, March 2 as co-main to the Puerto Rican GOAT, Amanda Serrano. I’m fighting for experience, not for the money, and to show my love for this beautiful island I’ll be donating my entire fight purse from this event to my nonprofit Boxing Bullies to help renovate gyms across Puerto Rico.”

Bourland Aims to End Jake Paul’s Boxing Career

Ryan Bourland enters the contest with a solid 17-2 record with six of his victories coming by way of knockout. He last competed in September 2022, earning a fifth-round TKO against Santario Martin.

“Jake Paul steps into the ring with his social media clout, but let’s not mistake followers for experience or skill,” Bourland said in a statement. “While he’s been busy chasing likes, I’ve been honing my craft for years, stepping into the ring and beating real boxers. On Saturday, March 2 I will shock the world and put an end to Jake Paul’s boxing career.”

Jake Paul undercard reportedly being investigated for potential fight fixing

Jake Paul

Jake Paul added another big win to his resume via a first-round destruction of Andre August on December 15.

After making a name for himself against a series of past-their-prime MMA stars, ‘The Problem Child’ is looking to legitimize himself in the world of boxing by taking on experienced pugilists. Paul kicked off his new campaign against August, a fighter with 10 career wins with five coming by way of knockout.

From the get-go, Paul appeared to be in complete control of the contest, using his jab and footwork to keep August just out of range. That forced his opponent to duck in from long distances in an attempt to attack the body of the social media star. Picking up on the tactic quickly, Paul unleashed an uppercut at just the right time, catching August on the button and flatlining him with less than a minute to go in the opening round.

It was an exciting end to an overall solid night of fights. However, in a recent report from The Sports Daily‘s Garett Kerman, one particular fight on the card is being investigated by U.S. Integrity.

Kerman’s report claims that there was suspicious betting activity on the bout between Yoenis Tellez vs. Livan Navarro, which went down just before the evening’s co-main event. He goes on to reveal that there was an “influx of six-figure wagers” on the fight going over five and a half rounds, despite Tellez never fighting past the fourth round in his undefeated career.

Tellez dropped Navarro in the third round but he was not able to score a finish until securing a TKO in the 10th round.

It’s been believed that one of the bettors (on the over 5.5 rounds prop bet) was a part of the corner team” for either Tellez or Navarro, Kerman claims. U.S. Integrity, a technology-driven sports wagering monitoring company, was reportedly notified of the fight and is now conducting an investigation.

Jake Paul, nor anyone associated with him, is suspected of any wrongdoing regarding the matter.

Kamaru Usman Believes Logan and Jake Paul would handle Tristan and Andrew Tate in hypothetical MMA fight

Kamaru Usman believes Logan and Jake Paul would have a decided advantage in a potential MMA showdown with Tristan and Andrew Tate.

While the Paul brothers are best known for their work in the boxing ring, their background in wrestling would likely give them a leg up should the pair ever find themselves in a hypothetical clash with the Tate brothers who have primarily competed in kickboxing.

“If it’s an MMA fight, I think that favors Jake and Logan [Paul] for sure…I mean, they actually wrestled…That’s [kickboxing] actually a disadvantage when it comes to wrestlers,” Usman said during an appearance on the PBD Podcast. “If I catch a kick and you fall down, like, it’s different and it’s a different balance…The civilian human doesn’t realize that it’s an actual skill to be able to get off of your back”

Logan and Jake Paul Continue to Thrive while the Tate Brothers Await Trial in Romania

While it’s fun to theorize about, any variation that would pit a Paul brother against a Tate brother is highly unlikely to happen. Particularly while Tristan and Andrew Tate are currently awaiting trial in Romania on charges of rape, human trafficking, and forming an organized crime group to sexually exploit women. They have vehemently denied all charges.

The Tate brothers were detained in December 2022 and remained in custody until March 2023 when they were placed under house arrest. In June, Andrew Tate and his brother were formally charged.

According to a report from the BBC, the indictment deposited with the Bucharest court says that the Tate brothers along with two other defendants formed an organized criminal group in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, but also in other countries including the U.S. and the UK.

Tyron Woodley Calls for MMA rematch with Jake Paul, believes choosing anyone else is ‘Disrespectful’

Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley

After playing a pivotal role in the early success of Jake Paul, former UFC champion Tyron Woodley feels like he’s being disrespected by the social media star.

After making a name for himself by fighting a series of past-their-prime MMA stars, ‘The Problem Child’ is hellbent on becoming more than another influencer hoping to make a few bucks in the sweet science. Recently, Paul revealed that he would be partnering with Team USA Boxing for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The announcement came a few days removed from his impressive first-round knockout against Andre August in Orlando.

However, Jake Paul’s dreams don’t solely rest inside the squared circle. Next year, he’s slated to make his highly anticipated mixed martial arts debut under the PFL banner. No official announcements have been made, but Paul has been aggressively approaching Nate Diaz with the hopes of goading the former UFC fan favorite into accepting a scrap inside the Smart Cage.

Speaking of Paul’s first foray into MMA, two-time ‘Problem Child’ challenger Tyron Woodley is feeling a bit disrespected by the fact that he is not being considered for the spot that Nate Diaz is being so desperately courted for.

“I think if you’re going to fight anybody in MMA, you fight me in MMA,” Woodley told TMZ. “I’m the one that did the numbers with you. I’m the one that had the crazy millions and millions of views in the press conference. I’m the one that was a five-time champion. I’m the one that took the fight on two weeks’ notice.

“I was [filming] Cobra Kai for 14 hours straight. I trained at 3 a.m. and I saved that card. That card was not going to happen. People would not have been buying Christmas gifts had I not stepped up to the plate. So to talk about fighting anybody in MMA outside of me is disrespect” (h/t MMA Fighting).

‘The Chosen One’ suffered a split decision loss to Jake Paul in August 2021 before accepting a short-notice opportunity to run it back four months later. The second time around, Woodley suffered a brutal knockout in the sixth round.

As a Former UFC Champion, Tyron Woodley Believes he is more deserving than nate diaz

Despite the back-to-back losses against Paul in the boxing ring, Woodley believes he is the most logical choice for a rematch in MMA given his history of collecting world championship wins. Something Diaz and other fighters vying for the spot have never accomplished.

“If you really, really want to prove that you can do it in my world, you fight the No. 1 guy in that world,” Woodley said. “Nate has never touched gold, never been close to gold ever. Either has [Derek] Brunson and I saw some other people barking. Everybody wants to jump on the bandwagon. You kind of sound like groupies. Everybody wants to fight Jake. Remember, I never asked to fight Jake. I was staying out the mix. I was cornering Ben Askren.

“They asked to fight me. Ben said ‘you should ask to fight Tyron.’ I wasn’t even focused on this kid. I wasn’t even thinking about boxing him and then the fight came to me. Even the second time around, they came to me and asked me to fill in because Tommy [Fury] couldn’t fight. I’m just the guy that stepped up and I stepped up in a major way.”

Tyron Woodley captured the welterweight title at UFC 201, besting ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler via a first-round KO. He went on to defend the title four times against Demian Maia, Darren Till, and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson on two separate occasions before surrendering the strap to Kamaru Usman, ending his nearly three-year-long reign.

“MMA wise, the fact that we’re not even speaking about me fighting him, especially with my affiliation with the PFL, it’s kind of disrespectful,” Woodley said.

Though Woodley is admittedly a little bitter over the PFL snub, ‘The Chosen One’ had nothing, but positive things to say about Jake Paul’s boxing career. He even served as part of the broadcast team on DAZN for Paul’s latest win.

“I thought he did a great job,” Woodley said about Paul’s performance. “I literally said, ‘Hey man, Andre better watch ducking his head because he’s going to get hit with an up, I couldn’t even say uppercut. I just got the U-P off and then he was sending him to the moon.”
