Blachowicz scored an upset win in the UFC 253 co-main event last night. The 37-year-old made quick work of Dominick Reyes, knocking his opponent out inside two rounds to claim the 205lb title recently made vacant by heavyweight bound former champ Jon Jones.
The Cieszyn, Poland native has reached the pinnacle of the sport after a tough 13-year career that has seen him compete on 35 different occasions. Blachowicz is currently riding a four-fight winning run after beating Luke Rockhold, ‘Jacare’ Souza, and Corey Anderson to earn his title shot. He also holds several other high-profile wins over the likes of Jimi Manuwa, Nikita Krylov, and Jared Cannonier. During his rise to the top Blachowicz has suffered eight defeats, He most recently lost to Thiago Santos who very well could be next in line at light-heavyweight if he gets by Glover Teixeira later this year.
Former strawweight queen Jedrzejczyk was quick to revel in having a new Polish UFC champion. The fan favourite took to social media posting the below video which shows her reacting to Blachowicz’s sublime win at UFC 253.
Jedrzejczyk last competed in March where she went to war with Weili Zhang for 25 minutes for the women’s strawweight title. After a fight many considered to be the greatest in women’s mixed martial arts history, it was Zhang who retained her title following a razor-thin split decision victory.
Jedrzejczyk notably took a lot of damage in the fight including a huge hematoma on her forehead. It was also her second failed attempt at regaining the title as well as her third overall since losing the strawweight strap to Rose Namajunas in 2017.

Jon Jones goes on twitter tirade, takes aim at Costa and “his” Light-Heavyweight belt
Former UFC Light-Heavyweight champion Jon Jones remained active on Twitter during UFC 243 sharing his input on both title fights even questioning if he should return to the light-heavyweight division in search of his belt.
The Light Heavyweight title now belongs to Poland’s Jan Blachowicz after his second-round stoppage victory over former title challenger Dominick Reyes.
Jones began his commentary during the fight simply tweeting a “Weird Right” referring to having a Light-Heavyweight title fight without his name on the bill. The former champions tweets then turned to a play by play of the action beginning with complimenting Blachowicz for his first-round performance. “beautiful first round by Jan” Jones said. This was shortly followed by some analytical work by Jones stating that the left kick to the body seemed to be open for Blachowicz as well as highlighting that he was forcing Reyes to strike first.
Following Blachowicz’s finish of Reyes, Jones posted a variety of tweets criticizing his former opponent.
Following this slew of remarks and a compliment to Blachowicz Jones shared that he would be going to sleep, a statement that proved to be false as the main event for the Middleweight title between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa began.
Jones’s Twitter remained active through this title fight beginning with him questioning something on the body of the Middleweight champion before criticizing Costa for his antics inside the ring.
The former Light-Heavyweight champion was not done there posting after Israel Adesanya defended his title defeating Costa via TKO, a sighing emoji as well as a message to the failed title challenger.
Currently, Jones has nothing scheduled, however, after vacating his Light-Heavyweight belt earlier in the year, the former champion remains set on challenging for a new title in the heavyweight division.

Earlier tonight (Saturday, September, 26th. 2020) UFC 253: Adesanya vs. Costa took place from the Flash Forum on ‘Fight Island’ on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Taking main event status, UFC middleweight champion, Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya lodged the second successful defence of his ever-growing middleweight legacy, with a rather one-sided knockout win over challenger, Paulo ‘The Eraser’ Costa. Scoring a multitude of leg kicks to a seemingly gunshy, Costa – the City Kickboxing mainstay managed to draw some claret from the right eyebrow of the Belo Horizonte native with a left head kick, before countering with a check left hook – resulting in a knockdown. Leaping to guard, Adesanya rained down with strikes, forcing referee Jason Herzog to jump to Costa’s defence.
In our first of two title fights of the night, Poland crowned their newest UFC titleholder, as Jan Blachowicz claimed vacant light heavyweight spoils with a crushing second-round knockout win over Californian striker, Dominick ‘The Devastator’ Reyes. Ripping the body with a stiff kick on the end of multiple combinations, Blachowicz managed to stop Reyes with strikes in the pocket in the second-round – finishing up with ground-and-pound to claim the 205-pound throne.
Taking Fight of the Night bonuses, our flyweight main card clash between exciting contenders, Kai ‘Don’t Blink’ Kara-France, and Brandon ‘Raw Dawg’ Royval. In an explosive back-and-forth in the opening frame, both scored quickfire knockdowns, with Royval connecting with a spinning back-fist, as Kara-France found home with a massive right hand. Surviving an early guillotine attempt, the latter fell victim early in the second frame, with Royval submitting the New Zealand native with a second-round attempt. Royval adds Kara-France to a debut Octagon victory over one-time title challenger, Tim Elliott in May of this year.
In the first of our two Performance of the Night bonuses, the above named, B?achowicz scored the light heavyweight crown as well as an additional $50,000 payday. The former KSW light heavyweight best extended his undefeated run to four-fights off the back of his finish of Reyes, adding the Hesperia native to a winning streak which includes recent Bellator signing, Corey Anderson, and former Strikeforce middlewieght champions, Jacaré Souza, and Luke Rockhold.
Despite former two-time gold holder, Jon Jones vacating the throne in search of spoils a division higher in a long-awaited move, B?achowicz still called for a pairing with the former, with Jones sitting front-row during the Pole’s UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho demolition of the above mentioned, Anderson.
Taking our final bonus of the night with Performance of the Night spoils, curtain-closer, Adesanya. Following up his rather forgettable March title defence opposite multiple-time title challenger, Yoel ‘The Soldier of God’ Romero – Adesanya was back to his sparkling best with a second-round battering of Costa.
