Brian Ortega says sorry Jay Park

UFC featherweight Brian Ortega has officially apologized
for slapping Korean rapper Jay Park at UFC 248.

‘T-City’ had previously been angered by Park who acted as translator for ‘Korean Zombie’ during an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show last month.

This anger reached boiling point at UFC 248 this past weekend when Ortega approached and assaulted Park who was in attendance with his friend ‘Korean Zombie’ – who was not involved in the altercation after leaving the area to go the toilet.

Yesterday Ortega posted and then deleted the below message in which he explained his actions and refused to apologize to “instigator” Park.

“On May 9, 2018, Jay Park signed The
Korean Zombie to a management contract under AOMG Entertainment, of which Park
is the CEO, and soon after the trash talking began. When I finally made it to
Korea for the press conference, TKZ approached me with his translator (a real
one, not Jay Park) and said ‘I want to apologize for the trash talking, it was
my management that wants to do it to promote the fight’.” Brian Ortega wrote.
“I accepted his apology, shook his hand and we had a great press conference.
Soon after I tore my knee, and the fight got cancelled. Four weeks ago, The Korean
Zombie and Jay Park went on Ariel’s show and said I dodged the fight. ‘Dodging’
and ‘injury’ are two separate things, and since I already knew JP was the one
writing the script, that’s when I welcomed him to the fight game and warned him
to watch his mouth.”

“On Saturday night, I slapped three people at the same time. I apologize for slapping the ‘translator’, I apologize for slapping the ‘K-Pop Star’, but I don’t apologize for slapping the ‘instigator’.

Ortega appears to have had a change of heart after quickly deleting the post and issuing a proper apology last night, which read.

“I want to officially apologize to JPark for Saturday night, when Zombie is ready we can fight.”

The usually cool, calm and collected ‘T-City’ was riled by Park who acted as translator for Korean Zombie during a recent appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.

On Saturday night he lived up to his words on social media and approached the Korean singer and delivered a slap, which resulted in him being thrown out of the event.

New footage has emerged showing the immediate aftermath of the altercation between UFC fighter Brian Ortega and Korean musician Jay Park.

The top contender at featherweight allegedly slapped the friend of divisional rival Chan Sung Jung AKA ‘The Korean Zombie’ at UFC 248 this weekend.

Ortega and ‘Korean Zombie’ had been scheduled to fight at UFC Busan late last year. Unfortunately, ‘T-City’ was forced to withdraw from the fight on late notice due to injury and MMA legend Frankie Edgar filled in against Jung.

During an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show Jung said via Park that Ortega was scared to fight and was ducking him. Immediatley reacting to the comments on Feb 10, Ortega posted on social media, he said.

“When I saw him (Chan Sung Jung) in Korea he apologized and said sorry for the trash talk and I said all good because at least you came at me like a man. Now you just a b*tch dawg. Jay Park welcome to the fight game don’t be surprised if I slap the sh*t out of you when I see you. Having an injury and ducking are 2 different things.”

Ortega’s anger was clearly directed at Park at UFC 248 as he waited for ‘Korean Zombie’ to move away from the area before approaching and assualting his freind Park, who believes he did nothing wrong to justify Ortega’s actions, he said.

“For me, to be honest, I don’t feel like I did anything wrong. I just translated. I never put words in Zombie’s mouth. I’ve never put up a [social media] caption for him. I never told him to trash-talk. I have a lot of respect for fighters. They put everything on the line—they train hard, they fight for their family.” (Transcribed by ESPN)

Korean musician Jay Park does not plan on filing charges against Brian Ortega.

Park — who translates for the Korean Zombie — was slapped by Ortega in the crowd during UFC 248 this past weekend. Ortega reportedly had a problem with the way Park had translated recent comments about him from Zombie.

Park filed a complaint to the police soon after but appearing on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, revealed he hasn’t decided on whether he will press charges against the former featherweight title challenger:

“I don’t want to take this dude’s money,” Park said (via ABC). “I don’t want him to go to jail or anything like that. I don’t wish anything bad about him. It was just really weird. I don’t know what other way to put it. I don’t know what he was thinking. He needs to get his act together. Real talk.”

Park also detailed how the incident went down:

“He’s like, ‘Hey dog, are you Jay Park?’” Park explained. “It kind of caught me by surprise. As I stood up, he like smacked me. … It was very narrow. There were chairs behind me, so I kind of fell back, and then I got up and I kind of pushed him.

“… What is he doing coming and attacking me? I could understand if I was talking s— or I was egging him on or whatever. But I was a fan of the dude. I was following him on Instagram. It was a really bad representation of himself. It was not a good look for him, bro.”

As for his translation, Park claims he did nothing wrong as he was just translating what Zombie was saying about him from Korean.

“For me, to be honest, I don’t feel like I did anything wrong,” Park said. “I just translated. I never put words in Zombie’s mouth. I’ve never put up a [social media] caption for him. I never told him to trash-talk. I have a lot of respect for fighters. They put everything on the line — they train hard, they fight for their family.”

Park also took a dig at Ortega on Sunday:

Zombie, meanwhile, was not pleased with Ortega’s actions and has since called for a fight with “T-City” as he plans on knocking him out.

Featherweight contender Brian Ortega is in hot water as it
has been revealed Korean rapper and friend of ‘Korean Zombie’ Jay Park has
filed a police report after being assaulted at UFC 248.

Ortega and Chan Sung Jung have a simmering rivalry which reached
the next level last month. ‘Korean Zombie’ appeared on the Ariel Helwani Show
and had some choice words for the former title challenger via his translator
Park. He accused Ortega of ducking him.

The 145lb contenders were supposed to meet at UFC Busan in
December however the fight fell through at late notice with Ortega citing an
injury, Korean Zombie instead fought and beat Frankie Edgar in his homeland.

Ortega is apparently still annoyed about the comments and directed his anger at Park. According to eyewitnesses Ortega approached Park and slapped him whilst ‘Korean Zombie’ was in the bathroom. Ortega was kicked out of UFC 248 and could face further repercussions for his actions.

According to the manager of ‘Korean Zombie’, Jason House of Idrium Sports Agency a police report has been filed against Ortega. In a statement to MMA Junkie House explained the UFC had requested both fighters behave appropriately at UFC 248, something his fighter honored throughout the night, he said.

“Both teams were contacted prior to
last night’s event and were asked by the UFC to be respectful and to not have
any confrontations,” House wrote. “Our team respected the UFC’s request and
maintained our professionalism throughout the night. Police reports were filed
immediately after the incident occurred and now it’s a matter for law
enforcement officials to handle. Korean Zombie has always been a class act and
will continue to be. Our objective remains the same; to put ourselves in the
best position both inside and outside the cage to become the featherweight
champion this year.”

The Korean Zombie has delivered a scathing message to Brian Ortega.

Following UFC 248 on Saturday night, Dana White revealed that the pair had gotten into a fight in the crowd. Many initially believed Zombie and Ortega got physical with each other.

However, it was later reported that once Zombie went to the bathroom, Ortega went up to his friend and musician Jay Park and slapped him. Ortega’s issue was with Park’s translation of Zombie’s previous comments about him.

That unsurprisingly didn’t go down well with Zombie one bit as he took to Facebook to respond to Ortega:

“Last night, you sat 10 meters away from me and Jay Park. For two hours nothing happened, so I thought everything was fine. But you f*cking attacked Jay Park while I went to the bathroom. Jay Park is not a professional fighter but a musician. You slapped a civilian who merely helped translate.

“Even worse, you were sitting there waiting until I would be absent and attacked Jay Park. It was not a fight like real men would do. What you have done is same as a grown up to beat a child. You should have attacked me. If so, I would have not been upset. You are such a coward for slapping a musician not a fighter.

“If you f*cking planned this to fight me and to use my name because people don’t remember your name anymore, then I congratulate you, it worked. I will fight you and I will knock you out and your f*cking face will be bloody. Now, your f*cking face stays in my mind and I will f*ck you up in the cage. I hope you won’t run away from me again.”
