Calvin Kattar wants to main event UFC Boston later this year.

The featherweight is from Massachusetts and trains there as well. He is coming off of an incredible knockout win over Ricardo Lamas at UFC 238 and believes that sets him up to headline the card. And, there is already an opponent in mind as Jeremy Stephens pulled aside Kattar at UFC 239 to ask him if they could fight at that card.

“He grabbed me yesterday when we were watching the fights,” Kattar told MMA Junkie Radio on Stephens. “I was at the T-Mobile (Arena) and we were at the top, at the bar area and he came up and tapped me on the arm and asked me if I could come with him, and he brought me up to Sean Shelby who was there. He mentioned TD Garden in Boston, what’s up with that, let’s make it happen and I told him let’s do it so we’ll see.”

Regardless of the opponent, Kattar just wants to fight someone who will put on a show and allow them to be the main event.

“We’ll see, hopefully, it happens in Boston, I would love to headline,” Kattar said. “If that’s a name me fighting, will get me the headline position then Jeremy Stephens it is, if it’s not then I want someone who is worth headlining at TD Garden in Boston.”

Whether or not that person os Jeremy Stephens is up in the air. But, Kattar remains adamant about fighting at UFC Boston and wants to put on a show like he always does and win for his home crowd.

UFC featherweight contender Jeremy Stephens has put his name in the hat to face Chan Sung Jung next.

Jung got back to winning ways with an emphatic TKO win over Renato Moicano in the main event of UFC Greenville this past weekend. Given Moicano’s No. 5 ranking, the win could move “The Korean Zombie” high up the ranks and potentially into the title picture.

Speaking after the event, Jung said he did not care who his next opponent was, but just wanted to fight in his native South Korea. UFC president Dana White appeared to have promised him just that and if that’s the case, an opponent is now required.

Many fans have called for a rematch with Jose Aldo, but it doesn’t appear the former champion wants to fight outside Brazil as his UFC contract comes to a close. However, one option could be Stephens in what would guarantee to be a barn burner.

“I’ll take the @KoreanZombieMMA next!” Stephens wrote on Twitter. “Let’s go @danawhite @seanshelby @ufc it’s the most exciting fight to make. Congrats on quick work, see ya soon! ??”

Stephens was enjoying a three-fight winning streak before suffering a TKO defeat to Aldo last summer. He would then lose a unanimous decision to Zabit Magomedsharipov earlier this year. However, “Lil’ Heaten” always brings the action and it’s a hard to see a headliner with Jung going the distance.

Do you want to see this matchup next? Or should Jung aim for someone in the top five?

A fight between Brian Ortega and Jeremy Stephens is no longer being discussed as a potential headliner for UFC San Antonio on July 20.

That’s according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani who states that there was talk of booking that featherweight contest. However, Ortega is not healthy enough to accept a fight at the moment.

Ortega had suffered a number of injuries in his featherweight title fight with Max Holloway in December. Among them were a broken nose and broken hand. However, he claimed last month that he was all clear and looking to return in the summer.

But given the latest news, it seems “T-City” may still need some more time before returning to the Octagon.

Helwani added that he preferred Ortega facing Stephens rather than Zabit Magomedsharipov. That fight was also reportedly in the works, but for UFC 240.

Ortega was undefeated before his TKO loss to Holloway, having defeated the likes of Renato Moicano, Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar en route to a title shot.

As for Stephens, he is currently on a two-fight losing run after defeats to Jose Aldo and Magomedsharipov. “Lil’ Heathen” was, however, on a three-fight winning streak before that with wins over Gilbert Melendez, Doo Ho Choi and Josh Emmett.
