The UFC heads to Singapore for UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Prochazka tonight.

Emanating from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, UFC 275 is scheduled to be main evented by a light heavyweight showdown between current champion Glover Teixeira and the No. 2 ranked contender, Jiri Prochazka. Ahead of the event, the UFC has released the UFC 275 cold open to get you, even more, hyped up for today’s event.

With just two wins inside the Octagon, Prochazka will step into the main event for the biggest fight of his career against fan-favorite UFC mainstay Glover Texeira. At 42 years old and 10 years in the UFC, Teixeira climbed to the top of the mountain when he defeated former champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267 in October. Now he looks to keep his title when he meets a formidable opponent with serious speed and knockout power.

In the evening’s co-main event, Valentina ‘Bullet’ Shevchenko goes for her seventh straight title defense against flyweight powerhouse Taila Santos. Currently sitting at No. 4 in the UFC’s flyweight rankings, Santos earned four straight wins in the Octagon against notable fighters Molly McCann, Gillian Robertson, Roxanne Modafferi, and Joanne Wood to earn an opportunity to unseat the UFC’s most dominant reigning champion.

Zhang and J?drzejczyk Run Back One of The Greatest Fights of All Time at UFC 275

Also on tap for UFC 275 is the highly anticipated rematch of the greatest women’s fight of all time. In March 2020, Weili Zhang and Joanna J?drzejczyk engaged in a five-round war at UFC 248. More than two years later, the two will run it back, the winner earning an opportunity to face the new strawweight queen, Carla Esparza

Rounding out the evening’s main card is two big welterweight bouts. Promoted to the main card after Rogerio Bontorin was forced to withdraw from his bout against Manel Kape, Australian Jake Matthews takes on knockout artist Andre Fialho.

Opening up the main card will and making his sophomore appearance in the Octagon is Jack Della Maddalena who hopes to keep his momentum going against Dagestani fighter Ramazan Emeev.

Bouts scheduled for the preliminary portion of the card include:

  • Jacob Malkoun vs. Brendan Allen
  • Seung Woo Choi vs. Joshua Culibao
  • Steve Garcia vs. Hayisaer Maheshate
  • Kang Kyung-ho vs. Danaa Batgerel
  • Liang Na vs. Silvana Gómez Juárez
  • Ramona Pascual vs. Joselyne Edwards

UFC light heavyweight contender Ji?í Procházka has pinpointed the key in-fight battle that he expects to shape his title challenge at UFC 275.

After just two appearances inside the Octagon, Procházka has earned a championship opportunity. And having followed his brutal knockout win against Volkan Oezdemir on debut by sleeping Dominick Reyes via spinning back elbow in a UFC Fight Night main event last year, it’s hard to argue against his credentials.

Now ranked at #2 in the division, “Denisa” will get his chance to challenge reigning champion Glover Teixeira in the UFC 275 headliner tonight.

While Procházka will be targeting a third straight victory in the Octagon and a 26th KO added to his illustrious record, Teixeira will be looking to continue his remarkable late resurgence, which has seen him win six consecutive outings and ascend the light heavyweight mountain at the age of 42.

In order to end the Brazilian’s storybook rise and reign, the Czech contender believes that there’s one key aspect of the fight game that he’ll have to emerge on the right side of: pressure.

During an interview with Combat Sports on Fanatics View, Procházka noted that both him and the titleholder enjoy piling the pressure on their opponents when the cage door shuts. The 29-year-old believes that whoever can use pressure to their advantage come fight night will get their hand raised.

“My prediction… He is a guy who is trying to keep the pressure in the fight, yeah? This is something what I like to do in a fight,” acknowledged Procházka. “So, that will be, in that fight, I think it will be a big thing, who will keep this pressure, or who will use that pressure for like, a counter weapon. So, I don’t want to expect (anything), but I’m just going for a win.”

With Texeira hinting that he may call it quits while on top later this year, Procházka will be looking to bring that retirement party forward a few months by securing his place on the throne. But given how the Brazilian dispatched his fellow European 205lber last October, that will be no easy task.

Who do you think will have their hand raised at UFC 275, Ji?í Procházka or Glover Teixeira?

The upcoming headline fight of UFC 275 features a light heavyweight title fight between veteran champion Glover Teixeira and rising Czech KO artist Jiri Prochazka. The fight promises to be an action-packed striking affair, with both men possessing their own individual routes to victory.

Jiri Prochazka goes into this fight as the bookie’s favourite to win, but Glover Teixeira has built a career on defying the odds. Who will pick up the win in front of a sold-out crowd in Singapore? Let’s see what the LowKickMMA staff have to say:

Glover Teixeira vs. Jiri Prochazka

Frank Bonada

Whilst Glover Texeira’s late-career resurgence to claim the 205lb title was one of the best stories in MMA over the past few years. However, one can only continue to subvert expectations for so long in the world of combat sports.

Jiri Prochazka may well be one of the most athletically gifted fighters to have ever competed inside the UFC. The combination of speed and power that the Czech samurai possesses is entirely unprecedented.

Whilst Teixeira’s ground game could serve as the great equalizer in this fight, I can’t look past the raw power of Jiri Prochazka. I believe we will hear “and new” after less than three rounds of pure violence, courtesy of ‘Denisa.’

Prediction: Jiri Prochazka via KO/TKO

Ross Markey

Glover Teixeira vs. Jiri Prochazka The current run of veteran Minas Gerais native, Glover Teixeira is nothing really short of a fairytale. The undisputed light heavyweight champion has continually survived worrisome moments en route to taking the belt from Jan Blachowicz last October, however, amongst this current travel, I believe Czech challenger, Jiri Prochazka presents the most intriguing, and unorthodox matchup for him at 205lbs.

A shrewd grappler with fantastic top control and smothering ability – on display in notable victories opposite both Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos, Teixeira managed to mount the back of Blachowicz, and his wrestling and grappling ability seem to be one of the most interesting factors of this pairing – given the still unknown aspect of Prochazka’s ability to defend both.

The sticking point does come, however, if Teixeira can manage to land Prochazka in a position of danger himself – without absorbing something quite significant from the former Rizin FF champion, with Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes failing to avoid catastrophic knockouts. Personally, Prochazka gets my nod to defeat Teixeira and land a UFC title at the first time of asking – damaging the Brazilian beyond continue. Keep a close eye on potential grappling scenarios, however.

Prediction: Jiri Prochazka

Nikhil Sharma

I see Prochazka going for the jumping knee but I’m sure Teixeira will be aware of the possibility and will deal accordingly. If you’re Glover Teixeira, you’d want to look at Prochazka’s fight against Brandon Halsey. Prochazka got taken down and was deep in a guillotine but refused to give up. And that was knowing there are about 8 mins left on the clock as this was under Rizin.

I’m going to take it a step further and say Jiri Prochazka has a 100% Finish rate at Light Heavyweight, which is a fact. His only decision win was against a heavyweight in an open weight contest. If we depend on the data we have available, I don’t see any reason why this fight would be any different, except Glover Teixeira who also has a similar ability to win.

Prediction: Jiri Prochazka by KO/TKO in the 2nd round.

Makoa Goble

The main event of UFC 275 features a time-tested tale of age vs. wisdom. Glover Teixeira asserted his greatness by defeating the seemingly unbeatable Jan Blachowicz, and he made it look easy. On the other side stands Jiri Prochazka. Part myth, part mystique. Will the young prospect find his shine, or does Teixeira prove that all along he was deserving of his current throne? On one side you see that Teixeira gets hit a lot, but on the other hand, you can say he has a chin of steel. A guy like Prochazka will test that, and even push the Brazilian’s chin to its limits.

But in that same aspect, Teixeira will test the grappling of Prochazka, in addition to presenting an interesting enigma on the feet. While Prochazka looks like the next legend in MMA, you could say he’s not ready to face a man with the number of tools as Glover Teixeira.

Prediction: Glover Teixeira via decision

Craig Peikos

Prochazka has a speed advantage on the feet and both have knockout power. Where Teixeira excels is on the ground. I think Teixeira gets it to the ground and stops Prochazka with ground and pound.

Prediction: Glover Teixeira via KO/TKO

UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya has shared his prediction of the UFC 275 main event.

A big UFC Pay-Per-View is happening this weekend from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. This event brings a huge amount of talent and two big title fights on the card. The main event is a much-anticipated light heavyweight bout between champion Glover Teixeira and Ji?í Procházka. This will be the first title defense for Teixeira since winning the title back in October.

Although Teixeira is the champion, some people believe that Procházka has what it takes to be a champion himself. One man who believes it might just be Procházka’s time to shine is middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. He spoke on his thoughts for this bout and gave his production.

“One thing I like about people like Ji?í is they just come out of nowhere and just take a whole new aspect of martial arts and immerse themselves in it and then we get to witness it and see the devastation,” Adesanya said on his YouTube channel. “When it comes time to fight the striking is awkward, but it works for him he’s long, he’s rangy, fights hands down, good looks.”

Although Adesanya is high on the UFC newcomer, he has much respect for Teixeira. Adesanya knows firsthand what a task it is to face Jan Blachowicz in the cage. He made the jump up to try his hand at the light heavyweight strap but could not get past Blachowicz, Teixeira did.

“Glover’s much more intelligent with his striking, he is much more textbook, is much more disciplined too,” he said. “Ji?í’s much more expressive with striking and also they both come forward and fight so who can make the other person take more of a back step and will work.”

In the end, Adesanya made his prediction as he does for some fight cards.

“If I’m gonna bet I’m gonna go with Ji?í, young, energy, tall, rangy, awkward, Glover’s had problems with them the past was why we fight because now we’re in the present,” Adesanya explained. “So he has to be patient.”

Do you agree with Adesanya’s prediction? Who do you have winning the UFC 257 main event?
