The second of three consecutive UFC fight cards is in the books as the The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 23 Finale went down last night (July 8, 2016) from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event featured a strawweight title tilt between rivals Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha. Gadelha started strong, but it was “Joanna Champion” who pulled ahead later in the bout to retain her title via unanimous decision after a five round war. Both women were given $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonuses for their efforts.

In the strawweight final of The Ultimate Fighter, Tatiana Suarez scored an impressive first round d’Arce choke submission victory over Amanda Bobby. She received a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for her efforts.

Earlier on the card, Doo Ho Choi blasted Thiago Tavares with a right hand that shut the lights off in the very first round. He too earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” Bonus for his finish.

Piggy backing off of UFC Fight Night 90, which took place last night (July 7, 2016), The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 23 Finale went down this evening (July 8, 2016) from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event was headlined by a women’s strawweight title clash between bitter rivals Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha. The two ladies did battle for five rounds in an entertaining war, but it was Jedrzejczyk who came out on top and defended her title for a third straight time.

Weight cutting is one of the most crucial, and in most cases grueling, aspects of mixed martial arts today, but in the case of No. 1-ranked women’s strawweight Claudia Gadelha it’s apparently got a whole lot easier.

In a recent a recent media scrum in Brazil, Gadelha spoke on how her tumultuous weight cut has become a lot more bearable, and her new dieting habits:

“I don’t cut much weight anymore,” Gadelha said. “I learned that by losing much weight, I also lose performance inside the Octagon, so I’m staying lighter now.

I learned to eat better, so I live on a diet now. I don’t go out of my diet a day now, not even on the weekends, because I have to be around 126 pounds to cut 13 or 15 pounds before the fight. No more cutting 22, 33 pounds for me.

“I think it’s already tough for a male athlete, and it’s even worse for a female athlete. It’s bad for your performance on fight night, so I’m living on a diet so it doesn’t become an issue in the future.”

Gadelha is currently set to step back inside the Octagon for a title shot against Polish knockout artist Joanna J?drzejczyk live on FS1 at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Season Finale (TUF 23 Finale), at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 8, 2016.

UFC women’s strawweight contender Claudia Gadelha has made her name in the mixed martial arts world with some very impressive victories. Notable names on Gadelha’s MMA record before she joined the UFC include Valerie Laetourneau, Herica Tiburcio and Ayaka Hamasaki to name a few, and she was pegged for Invicta FC title glory before the UFC snapped her up. Since joining the promotion in 2014, she’s put on three incredible displays inside the octagon.

A debut victory over Tina Lahdemaki saw ‘Cludinha’ thrust in to the title mix, and she displayed her best work to date in a five round war with Joanna Jedrzejczyk in late 2014. She lost on the cards that night, but many believed the highly debated decision should have gone the other way. After a dominant performance in her next bout with Jessica Aguilar, Gadelha was once again lined up with Joanna champion, currently she has just finished filming the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter opposite ‘JJ.’

One such fight that this writer sourced on the Reddit MMA forums, h/t user Arvivald, and it is one of the craziest MMA related videos we’ve seen for a while.
