UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is coming of of an impressive decision victory over rival Claudia Gadelha on July 8, 2016, and she will next defend her title against fellow undefeated Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz at November 12’s UFC 205 from New York.

While she had hoped that the fight would take place in Poland, the champion is excited to compete at Madison Square Garden, and she expects to be a ‘different fighter’ than she was in July:

“I feel I am going to be a different fighter than I was in the fight against Claudia Gadelha,” Jedrzejczyk said on a recent edition of The MMA Hour. “I don’t want to just swing with Karolina, I want to really, really put on a good show. Because it’s me. I like Karolina, I like all of the crazy things coming up. People want to ask for proof to see who is the best in Poland, but I am the best in the world. I just want to be the best in the world. It’s a very big deal. People want this fight to happen in Poland, but, I am an international champion. Of course I want to fight in Poland for my fans and my family, but maybe next time. Karolina should be happy that we are going to fight at UFC 205.”

Both fighters are undefeated in their professional careers, but “Joanna Champion” actually holds a submission win over Kowalkiewicz in an amateur bout back in 2012. On top of that, Jedrzejczyk claims that her upcoming opponent is ‘fake’ and that she has something to prove next month:

“I met her in a lobby. She was super nice and super cute. She came to me with her coach and they hug me and she was nice. Her problem is that she is a fake person. Before my fight with Gadleha, we shoot commercial for our sponsor, we had a photo shoot together and she was super nice and talking a lot. But, after her fight with Rose, she said a lot of bad things and that’s the reason. She said I’m afraid of her and that I’m going to lose my belt. Come on, let’s be serious. She is fake and I am going to prove to everyone that she is.”

UFC 205 is set to be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor. 170-pound champion Tyron Woodley will also defend his title against Stephen Thompson on the card.

It looks as if November 12’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden in New York has added another title fight to its card. According to a report from Bloody Elbow, reigning women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will put her title on the line against fellow polish combatant and No. 2-ranked contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

“Joanna Champion” also took to her official Instagram account to post a picture of herself holding a freshly signed bout agreement:

Kowalkiewicz currently possesses an undefeated 10-0 professional record as well as a 3-0 record inside the Octagon. She’s picked up victories over Randa Marcos, Heather Clark, and former title challenger Rose Namajunas.

Jedrzejczyk, on the other hand, is also undefeated at 12-0, and has defended her strap three times to date. After destroying former champion Carla Esparza in March 2015, the Polish striker has taken out Jessica Penne, Valerie Letorneau, and Claudia Gadelha, looking more impressive each time out.

UFC 205 will also play host to a welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and surging contender Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. Also confirmed for the event is a welterweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Kelvin Gastelum, a featherweight bout between Frankie Edgar and Jeremy Stephens, and a middleweight fight between Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy.

It’s currently unclear which bout will headline the monumental card.

Undefeated UFC women’s strawweight contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz scored the biggest victory of her young career in the co-main event of last night’s (July 30, 2016) UFC 201 from Atlanta, Georgia. After starting slow against former title challenger “Thug” Rose Namajunas, Kowalkiewicz battled back to win the final two rounds to earn a split-decision victory.

Now 3-0 inside of the Octagon, Kowalkiewicz has her eyes set on a title shot with reigning 115-pound champion and fellow Poland native Joanna Jedrzejzcyk:

“I want the fight with Joanna,” Kowalkiewicz said at the UFC 201 post-fight press conference. “I am ready for her. She said that I’m not on her level. I think that I am good enough to fight with her. I want a fight with her. Let’s do this. Polish power versus Polish power.”

Jedrzejczyk also holds an undefeated professional record, sitting at 12-0 with six straight victories inside of the Octagon. “Joanna Champion” has defended her title three straight times, most recently scoring a dominant decision victory over bitter rival Claudia Gadelha earlier this month (July 8, 2016) at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 23 Finale.

Ironically, Kowalkiewicz and Jedrzejczyk have actually met before back in their amateur days when the champion scored a submission victory. Now, however, Kowalkiewicz feels as if “Joanna Champion” is ‘scared’:

“I think she’s scared,” Kowalkiewicz said of Jedrzejczyk. “Just like that.”

Would you like to see these two face off next for the 115-pound title?
