Strikeforce fighter Jason Mayhem Miller thinks CBS announcer Gus Johnson is an “idiot” for his comments at the end of the April Strikeforce show, and UFC announcer Joe Rogan agrees with that assessment.

In a wide-ranging discussion on Rogan’s UStream show, Miller and Rogan expressed their agreement with what many MMA fans said immediately following the CBS broadcast: Johnson made a bad situation even worse by describing the brawl following the main event as the kind of thing that just sometimes happens in MMA.

Miller, who provoked the brawl that broke out in the cage by confronting Jake Shields following his victory in the main event, said that as he was being hit by Shields’ entourage, “The freaking idiot Gus Johnson goes, ‘Gentlemen, this is national television.’ I’m like, ‘Ha ha, no s**t’.”

Backstage With Joe Rogan

We’re kicking off a new video interview feature at MMA Fighting, entitled Backstage, and what better way to do so than to sit down (and stand up) with UFC color analyst Joe Rogan.

If you’ve ever been to a UFC event, you already know that part of the experience is to attend one of Rogan’s comedy shows the night before. Rogan, a comedian and actor long before he worked for the UFC, has held the title of most famous MMA fan (and employee, for that matter) for quite some time now. And, as you can see by watching our interview below, that’s exactly what he is: a passionate fan of all things mixed martial arts.

("I recommended Gus Johnson as my replacement. I heard he trains twice a week.")

Eddie Bravo contacted Cage Potato last night to expound on the news reported by Gareth Davies Wednesday that he had resigned from his post as an analyst with the UFC.

Although he confirmed he has indeed left the organization, he says his departure was an amicable one and that the move was necessary to allow him to focus more on his growing number of schools and students and will not restrict him from cornering his fighters in the Octagon.

"Yes, I quit to focus on cornering George [Sotiropoulos] and [Dan] Hardy. It was an amazing seven years with Zuffa," Bravo explained via text message. "I owe Dana, Lorenzo and Frank to the death."

At a recent question-and-answer session in Las Vegas, Joe Rogan was asked what he thought about the competing brands in MMA and whether he feels it is good for the sport and the UFC to have a crowded a marketplace of promotions.

“The bottom line is, it screws us because if those guys are over there, we can’t have those guys fight UFC guys,” Rogan said.

Rogan went on to say that competition is always good, but fans will never get to see all the fights they want, especially, as he mentioned, because the UFC will never co-promote with them.

Watch below as Rogan further explains his thoughts on co-promotion.
