Johnny Walker didn’t find himself entertained by the Blachowicz and Ankalaev fight, so he was happy to see it end in a draw.

Earlier this month, Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev fought for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight belt, but the contest ended in a controversial draw, which had many fans and media members outraged. But, Johnny Walker doesn’t seem to share the same sentiment as he believes the fight was dull and neither the UFC nor the fans want a boring champion.

Walker elaborated on his thoughts in an interview with Ag Fight.

“I think it’s really good that it all went down like that. The fight between Blachowicz and Ankalaev was kind of dull. Not only the UFC, but the fans were also happy about this draw. They don’t want a boring champion, a guy who only wins by decision. People like seeing knockouts and submissions.” (H/T BloodyElbow)

Johnny Walker believes a title fight between “thrilling fighters” is better for the fans and the UFC

With the 205-pound belt still vacant, UFC announced that the former champ, Glover Teixeira will get an opportunity to reclaim his belt against rising contender, Jamahal Hill at UFC 283. Johnny Walker seems to be all-in on this title fight as he believes both guys are championship material.

“People like seeing a guy giving his all to try and finish a fight in the last second,” Walker said. “I think it was good for the UFC and the fans that we now have a title fight between Glover and Jamahal. Those are thrilling fighters. Everybody wants to see them fight. People know they will give their best to finish a fight. That’s what people like to see.”

On the very same card, Johnny Walker will take on the ever-dangerous Paul Craig in the hopes of climbing his way back into the top 10 of the Light Heavyweight division.

Paul Craig unhappy with the use of interpreters and subtitles for his interviews: “That’s disrespectful to all Scottish people.”

Paul Craig has called the subtitling of his interviews disrespectful to all Scottish people.

Craig is set to take on Brazilian heavy-hitter, Johnny Walker, on the UFC 283 card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Craig is one of the very few Scottish fighters that are or ever have competed in the UFC and is the country’s most successful product in the promotion. The 35-year-old has been a part of some massive events in the United States and has put on entertaining fights since he entered the promotion back in 2016.

Still, Craig is left frustrated about how his interviews are handled. Craig, from Airdrie, has a thick Scottish accents but says it’s ‘disrespectful’ that he has to have an interpreter for some events along with his speech being subtitled

Our trash-talking is tremendous but the issue we have got is nobody can understand it,” Craig said to Off The Ball.

“It’s a bit disrespectful when you’re still speaking English and it’s getting broadcast to the English-speaking world and they are subtitling it because they can’t understand it.

“You do a post-fight interview. I’ve had an interpreter relaying what I’ve said. That’s disrespectful to all Scottish people.” (H/T The National)

Paul Craig vs.  Johnny Walker

Craig will have his hands full with Walker who is currently coming off an impressive first-round victory over Ion Cutelaba.

Walker has been up and down since first entering the promotion, but has consistently proved he can be extremely dangerous with all of his victories coming in the first round.

Craig though has one of the most dangerous BJJ games in the UFC and holds submission victories over Jamahal Hill, Nikita Krylov and Magomed Ankalaev.

UFC light-heavyweight Johnny Walker names Paul Craig as a potential opponent for the upcoming Rio card.

Johnny Walker has had an up and down UFC tenure, but following a win over tough veteran Ion Cutelaba at UFC 279, the 30-year-old now finds himself in a good position to begin to climb the rankings.

When he first entered the UFC, Walker quickly gained hype behind him following his first three performances for the promotion which all ended in a spectacular knockout. There were even rumblings that he could be the man to finally dethrone Jon Jones.

However, after losses against the likes of Corey Anderson, Nikita Krylov and most recently Jamahal Hill, Walker’s hype has somewhat died down, but the Brazilian seems as motivated as ever, having made the move to Ireland to train John Kavanagh at SBG.

In a recent interview with LowKickMMA, Johnny Walker revealed he is hoping to take on submission specialist Paul Craig next, ideally on the upcoming Rio card.

If I can get to UFC Rio in January, could be good to fight the guy from Scotland, Paul Craig,” Walker said to LowKickMMA.

He’s close in ranks, he’s not big step. he’s not like top five so going to be good for keep going, moving forward. One more win, then I pick somebody top five, top three, then championship.”

Johnny Walker vs Paul Craig

Johnny Walker’s idea of facing Craig next makes good sense for a few reasons. Craig has shown vulnerability on the feet before, especially to those who carry power. Considering Walker’s resume, he will likely be confident he has all the tools to pick up a win over the ‘Bearjew.’ However, any man who takes the Scot likely is in for a rude awakening, likely resulting in them being caught in one of Craig’s signature submissions.

Paul is also known to the Brazilian crowd, having taken on one of the country’s legends in Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, who he faced off against in Sau Paulo.

The ‘Bearjew’ has already responded to Walker’s callout:

Who would you take, Johnny Walker or Paul Craig?
