Dynamite!! 2010 posterFour more bouts were made official by FEG for the upcoming Dec. 31 FieLDS Dynamite!! 2010 event in Japan.

Added to the show is a DREAM heavyweight match between K-1 legend Jerome Le Banner vs. Judo Gold medalist Satoshi Ishii, a DREAM heavyweight match between Sergey Kharitonov vs. Tatsuya Mizuno, a DREAM heavyweight match between Alistair Overeem vs. TBA, and a IGF Special Rules match between Shinichi Suzukawa vs. Bob Sapp.

Both the Le Banner vs. Ishii and Kharitonov vs. Mizuno bouts have already been leaked earlier but the announcement of Alistair Overeem and the special rules match between Suzukawa vs. Sapp are new.

Overeem (33-11) is fresh off his K-1 World Grand Prix Tournament win this Month and will fight under mma rules for only the second time this year. He defended his Strikeforce title to Brett Rogers in May, earning a first round TKO victory. There are some rumors that former UFC heavyweight Todd Duffee could be his opponent for the show.

Shinichi is a former professional sumo wrestler who was thrown out of the sport in 2009 after being arrested for cannabis possession. His special rules bout with Sapp is likely a professional wrestling match. Sapp has plenty of experience fighting in Japan as a professional wrestler, and often fights as a mixed martial artist or K-1 kickboxer.

The event features a mix of mixed martial arts, kick-boxing bouts, and professional wrestling matches which will take place on Dec. 31st at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Rumor: Alistair Overeem vs. Toddy Duffee For Dynamite!! 2010

This is one of those bits of news that is more “Rumor” than fact but it’s so damn good that you have to report it anyway.
What set this all off is a post on the Underground Forum board, a quote taken from Toddy Duffee’s (6-1) Facebook page.

“Have no plans on NYE?! Dream Dynamite 2010 : […]

What set this all off is a post on the Underground Forum board, a quote taken from Toddy Duffee’s (6-1) Facebook page.

“Have no plans on NYE?! Dream Dynamite 2010 : Duffee VS Overeem on HDnet!!!”

The link to Todd Duffee’s Facebook page no longer contains that quote so the validity of the message is suspect.

What gives the message some credit though, is the latest FEG (Fighting and Entertainment Group) news item and Twitter post, adding a DREAM heavyweight match between “Alistair Overeem vs. X” this morning.

Overeem has already stated that he wanted to participate on the Dynamite!! 2010 card, but for the DREAM heavyweight title.

It’s quite possible that since Duffee is currently a free agent, but does have a fight booked for Jan 29th, that he could participate in the bout. If the rumor does prove true, this could be a huge PR boost for the Japanese event and would certainly see many more fans tune in for the fight.

Duffee suffered his first professional loss to Mike Russow last May at UFC 114, getting knocked out in the third round. He had been expected to face Jon Madsen at UFC 121 but a knee injury forced him out of that fight. Duffee was released by the UFC on Sept. 7th for unknown reasons.

Overeem was just crowned the 2010 K-1 World Grand Prix champion earlier this month and has fought only once in an mma bout this year. He defeated Brett Rogers in May via TKO, defending his Strikeforce title for the first time since winning the title in November of 2007.

Dynamite!! 2010 is set to take place on Dec. 31st at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The event will be broadcast live on HDNet in North America.

Kharitonov took the fight just days after he was TKO’d by Singh Jaideep at the K-1 World Grand Prix Finals. His last MMA bout was in April of 2009 against Jeff Monson at DREAM.8, losing by submission and having his three fight win streak stopped. Despite the winning record in his last four which includes a KO win over Alistair Overeem, Kharitonov has taken those fights over the past four years.

Mizuno sports the same 3-1 record in his last four, but has fought five times in the past two years. He is coming off a loss to Gegard Mousasi in September for the DREAM light-heavyweight title. Mizuno has also fought such notable names such as Melvin Manhoef, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovi? and Thiago Silva in the past.

The Dynamite!! 2010 event takes place on Dec. 31 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan and will be broadcast in North America on HDNet.

Hayato Mach SakuraiK-1 and DREAM promoter Fighting and Entertainment Group and Sengoku promoter World Victory Road continue to build towards Dyanmite!! and Soul of Fight this week as a host of bouts have been added to the end-of-year events

UFC veteran and DREAM welterweight GP finalist Jason High this week announced via Twitter that he will be facing former pound-for-pound great Hayato “Mach” Sakurai under the Dynamite!! banner. High had his only fight in the UFC against Charlie Brenneman back at UFC Fight Night 21 but after dropping a decision was cut from the Zuffa roster. Sakurai is currently on a three-fight slide and has been lacking motivation over the past year as he talks more and more of retirement.
