World Victory Road’s end of year event “Sengoku: Soul of Fight” is an ambitious effort. Twenty-eight men’ss and women’s bouts fought under MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing, “jacket rules”, a featherweight title fight and welterweight and bantamweight tournaments.

Even more ambitious would be an attempt to predict every single outcome on one of the biggest fight cards of all time. Fortunately for my keyboard and my sleep schedule, I’m not an ambitious man and so after the jump I’ll break down the fights that you need to know about for the first of two huge nights in Japanese MMA.

UFC veteran and DREAM welterweight GP finalist Jason High this week announced via Twitter that he will be facing former pound-for-pound great Hayato “Mach” Sakurai under the Dynamite!! banner. High had his only fight in the UFC against Charlie Brenneman back at UFC Fight Night 21 but after dropping a decision was cut from the Zuffa roster. Sakurai is currently on a three-fight slide and has been lacking motivation over the past year as he talks more and more of retirement.

Yasuko Tamada was only able to secure one win in her first seven appearances in the ring. Since then, the Megumi Fujii trained flyweight has picked up ten victories without suffering defeat and tonight picked up the Valkyrie Flyweight Title with a win over Naoko Omuro at Valkyrie 6 in Differ Ariake in Tokyo.

Also one the card, Rin Nakai remained undefeated in seven outings and cemented her place among the top 135 pound women in the world with a solid decision win over 36 fight veteran Megumi Yabushita.
