Miesha Tate and Ketlen Vieira will now headline UFC Vegas 43 on Nov. 20th. The promotion confirmed the match up’s date on Wednesday afternoon. ‘Cupcake’ was scheduled to headline the October 16th card before her positive test for COVID-19.

Tate is coming off an impressive comeback after her retirement that lasted almost five years. That was her first win since she beat Holly Holm for the Bantamweight title in 2016. The former 135lb champion, Tate (19-7) looks to make another statement against Vieira (11-2).

This is now the fourth women’s fight on that card, shaping up to be one of the most on a card in recent events. The other women’s fights on the card include, Joanne Calderwood (15-5)vs Alexa Grasso(13-3) in the flyweight division, Cheyanne Buys (6-2) vs Loma Lookboonmee (6-2) in the women’s strawweight division, and Jessica Penne (14-5) vs Luana Pinheiro (9-1) in a women’s strawweight bout.

It is good to see Miesha Tate in good spirits and able to get back inside the octagon in November. Vieira is the eighth-ranked fighter in her division, so a win over her would shoot Tate up the division rankings. If Tate keeps winning we could see her back in the title hunt sooner rather than later. Tate was also the former Bantamweight champ at the Strikeforce promotion as well.

The 35 year old looked in fantastic shape and dangerous as ever in her last fight against Marion Reneau. She ended up winning by TKO and taking home a performance bonus. It will be fun to watch the legendary fighter make, what could possibly be her last title run of her career.

The scheduled bout between Miesha Tate (19-7) and Ketlen Vieira (11-2) has been now postponed.

‘Cupcake’ was scheduled to fight Vieira at UFC Fight Night on Oct. 16th. The former bantamweight champion is “doing ok” according to her manager Josh Jones after catching COVID-19. This is just the latest fight that has been affected by the ongoing worldwide pandemic. The fight was originally headlining the ‘Fight Night’ event, but now there is no solid date for the bout to take place.

Tate had her first fight in nearly 5 years this past July and she defeated Marion Reneau via TKO. The 35-year-old won ‘Performance of the Night’ for her win over Reneau as well. After being retired for five years, Tate wasted no time when booking her next fight.

Vieira has dropped 2 of her last 3 fights, including her last fight which she lost to Yana Kunitskaya via unanimous decision. Vieira started her UFC career 4-0 before hitting this recent rough stretch.

As of now, it is still unclear what will be taking the place of the Tate vs Veira fight to headline the event. Tate is a very popular fighter and a fan favorite in the women’s division and her comeback has caught a lot of fight fans’ attention.

Many fight fans remember Tate mostly for beating Holly Holm to become the UFC bantamweight champion. She would ultimately lose that belt in her first title defense against Amanda Nunes. Nunes is also known to be one of the best fighters ever and the greatest woman fighter of all time. ‘The Lioness’ still holds that title she beat Tate for back in 2016.

Fight fans everywhere are hoping Tate has a speedy recovery and is able to get back in the octagon soon.

Miesha Tate 2.0 will face her next challenge when she faces top-10 bantamweight Ketlen Viera in the main event of the October 16 Fight Night.

As reported by Combate, both Tate and Viera have verbally agreed to fight one another in an October headliner. There were rumblings of a potential fight between Tate and Aspen Ladd that have surfaced lately, but while Ladd prepares to face Macy Chiasson in a rebooked fight on October 2, the revamped version of Miesha Tate will face Ketlen Viera.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate made her Octagon return in July in a TKO victory over Marion Reneau. This was Tate’s first fight in nearly five years but one couldn’t tell by the skilled display and easeful composure the legend displayed in the win. After defeating Reneau, Tate returned to the top 10 of the bantamweight rankings and is currently placed at #8, which is only one spot below her opponent this October, #7-ranked Ketlen Viera.

Even though Viera is coming off a loss in her most recent bout to Yana Kunitskaya, a strong argument can be made that this is a significant step up in competition for Tate. Firstly, Viera is currently ranked much closer to the top of the division than the now-retired Reneau was. Also, the fact that Viera is still in her prime at 29 while Reneau is 44 makes it fair to view this bout as a boost in difficulty for the 35-year-old Tate.

Tate has made it clear that she is not back in the UFC fold for a farewell nostalgia tour, though, so for her to continue climbing the ranks she once ruled, she’ll have to charge towards the growing fire on her path back to championship gold.

We will keep you updated on the lineup for this October 16 Fight Night card right here on MMANews.com.
