Dana White confirms UFC 304 bonuses will rise to $100K

Ahead of this weekend’s UFC 304 card in Manchester – upon request from lightweight veteran, King Green, promotional boss, Dana White has confirmed that post-fight bonuses will be set to $100,000.

Landing the Octagon in Manchester this weekend for the first time since 2016, the promotion are set to field two separate championship fights throughout the main and co-main event at the Co-op Live Arena.

Headlining the card; an undisputed welterweight championship fight between the incumbent, Leon Edwards, and surging challenger, Belal Muhammad – with the pair sharing the Octagon for the second time in their respective tenures.

And in the co-headliner, interim heavyweight titleholder, Tom Aspinall returns in a title fight defense against perennial divisional contender, Curtis Blaydes – attempting to become the first fighter since Brazilian veteran, Renan Barao to defend an interim crown.

Furthermore in another high-profile main card clash, the above-mentioned, Green takes on promotional star, Paddy Pimblett – in an attempt to hand the Liverpool native his first loss inside the Octagon.

And it was the San Bernardino native who managed to successfully campaign for a rise in post-fight bonuses – urging the above-mentioned, Dana White to up the cheque to $100,000 – which he appeared to oblige to.

However, jibing at fellow event headliner, Muhammad in response, Edwards urged the Illinois native to remain realistic about his chances of winning a bonus, claiming he was incapable of knocking out an opponent.

Eventually the two would square off on stage – with Muhammad mocking Edwards’ infamous headshot dead’ taunt, before the latter failed in his bid to make the former flinch – lunging in his direction before they were corralled.

Earlier this year, post-fight bonuses at UFC 300 in April were raised to a whopping $300,000 from promotional leader, White – to much fan and pundit praise alike.

Returning to the ‘Rainy City’ for the first time since their last showcase card in 2016 – when on that occasion, undisputed middleweight champion, Michael Bisping avenged his thunderous knockout loss to Dan Henderson to defend his crown in a decision win.

The night’s opening title fight sees the interim heavyweight crown up for grabs – with Atherton native, Tom Aspinall making the hop, skip, and a jump from Greater Manchester to take on former opponent, Curtis Blaydes – in a bid to avenge his sole Octagon loss in a rematch for spoils this time around.

Two of the boldest characters on the UFC roster will clash at UFC 304 when Paddy Pimblett takes on King Green in Manchester this weekend.

Both men are true one of a kind personalities that don’t allow what others think of them to affect who they are.

“The Baddy” has proven to be a love or hate fighter ever since he first stepped foot inside the Octagon.

He now looks to remain undefeated since signing with the UFC by beating his first ranked opponent, who recently legally changed his first name from Bobby to King.

A former member of the roster recently jokingly remarked that this name change could be the secret weapon for Green as he looks to pull off the win in enemy territory.

Tyson Pedro Jokes That King Green’s Name Change Will Give Him Even More Confidence Than Before

Fox Sports previewed all the action that is set to take place on July 27 via mainevent where they were joined by several of the stars of UFC 304.

Before Pimblett joined the show, the panel gave their thoughts on the fight with featherweight contender Josh Culibao and former UFC light heavyweight Tyson Pedro breaking down the match-up.

Pedro, who fought 11 times in the UFC before retiring in March, believes that Pimblett’s ground game will be crucial to him winning this fight.

During his analysis on where “The Baddy” poses the biggest challenge to his opponent, Pedro mixed up Green’s names for a split second before correcting himself.

He joked how the #15-ranked lightweight is going to come into this fight with even more confidence than normal after changing his name to King.

“I would say that’s where he would be leaning towards beating Bobby, King I should say. King Green. That’s probably the biggest thing that he needs to worry about, the name change. The confidence that he’s going to have from the name change is going to be big. But yeah, I would say that that’s where he’s going to try and beat him right, on the ground, but it’s a hard fight.”

Exclusive | "F idiots who are in PFL" - Paddy Pimblett talks free agency: "They don't shut up about me."

Paddy Pimblett doesn’t have time for all the “idiots” playing around in the B Leagues.

From the moment Pimblett first stepped inside the Octagon in September 2021, it seemed like he was destined for fame and fortune. Three years and five fights later, ‘The Baddy’ has found exactly that, becoming one of the organization’s top stars out of the UK and building a three-million-strong fanbase on Instagram.

Paddy Pimblett

On July 27, Pimblett will return to the Octagon seeking his eighth-straight win and a spot in the lightweight top 15 when he meets division staple King Green at UFC 304.

Paddy Pimblett

Once their bout is in the books, Paddy Pimblett will become a free agent as Saturday’s scrap will be the final fight on his existing UFC contract. That realization has led to much speculation regarding Pimblett’s future, but don’t expect to see ‘The Baddy’ bail on Dana White and Co. anytime soon.

Speaking with Tim Wheaton in an exclusive interview on behalf of AceOdds.com, ‘The Baddy’ made it clear that he has no interest in leaving the “marquee promotion in the world” to join the “B Leagues.”

“I would not go to the B Leagues,” Pimblett said. “All the clowns in the B League talk about me. I have seen interviews lately of f*cking idiots who are in PFL. They don’t shut up about me. It’s f*cking embarrassing.

“I’m in the UFC, I’m in the marquee promotion in the world. You wish you were there saying, ‘Oh, I’ve gone to PFL for the money.’ No, you haven’t. You went to PFL because the UFC doesn’t want you. That’s why you went to PFL, you f*cking idiot.”

Paddy Pimblett

It’s probably safe to say that Pimblett will look to re-sign with the UFC no matter what happens in Manchester this weekend, but a win over Green will give him a whole lot of extra leverage at the negotiating table.

Paddy Pimblett’s underdog status diminishing ahead of UFC 304

The Baddy’ approaches his UFC 304 clash with Green as an underdog for the first time in his UFC career. Currently, Pimblett is sitting at -102 compared to his opponent who is slightly favored at -118.

Originally, Pimblett was a +160 on multiple sportsbooks.

Clearly, fans are feeling more confident in Pimblett’s ability to get the job done as fight night grows closer.

'Probably his toughest test' Leon Edwards predicts Paddy Pimblett vs King Green

Headlining UFC 304 this weekend after a lightweight scrap between compatriot, Paddy Pimblett and veteran striker, King Green – incumbent welterweight kingpin, Leon Edwards candidly admits the Liverpool native is in for his “toughest” fight yet inside the Octagon.

Returning to take headlining status on the promotion’s anticipated comeback to Manchester, undisputed welterweight champion, Edwards takes on Belal Muhammad in his own title fight rematch – attempting to rack up successful championship defense number three.

However, earlier on the night’s main card, so far promotional-perfect contender, Pimblett returns in a high-profile fight with the above-mentioned, Green, in a bid to extend his unbeaten Octagon tenure to six straight fights.

And closing as a betting underdog to topple San Bernardino striker, Green over the course of three rounds at UFC 304, Pimblett has been predicted to come unstuck against the boxing star, according to former featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski.

Leon Edwards admits Paddy Pimblett in for “tough” clash with King Green

Furthermore, while British countryman, Edwards has reserved such predictions of a potential “hurting” loss for Paddy Pimblett, he candidly admitted that his matchup with Green will come as his biggest challenge to date.

'Unreal' fans react to Paddy Pimblett's dramatic body transformation ahead of UFC 304

“That’s a good one,” Leon Edwards said during an interview with talkSPORT, pondering more than his previous predictions. “I’ll go, Paddy (Pimblett). I’ll go all-British through here. I’ll go Paddy but I feel like Bobby’s a dangerous fight for him. Probably his toughest test.”

Receiving props earlier this week despite Volkanovski’s assessment of his chances, Pimblett appears to have shredded down some significant weight ahead of his trip to the scales to hit 155lbs pounds – in yet another leap from a heavy frame to a svelt physique.

UFC 304 takes place this weekend from the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England, with an undisputed welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad slated to take main event honors. Two very different styles will clash during the main card of UFC 304 this weekend as Paddy Pimblett takes on Bobby Green in a huge lightweight contest.

“The Baddy” has gone to the scorecards in his last two fights after finishing his first three opponents inside the Octagon but he’s always dangerous.

Whilst the Englishman’s physical prowess and submission skills are a big threat, the dangers that Green presents are very different.

With this fight being the big number 50 on his pro record, the veteran lightweight contender is a slick boxer who often tricks opponents into overcommitting.

A former UFC champion believes that this could be the story of the fight come Saturday night in Manchester.

Alexander Volkanovski Expects King Green To Play The Matador Against Paddy Pimblett

During his breakdown of the card on his YouTube channel, former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski spoke about the difficulties of fighting someone like Green.

Green often carries his hands by his side and will rely on his reaction time to get opponents to throw at him so that he can slip and counter with his fast hands and combinations.

Pimblett has been working extensively on his striking in recent times and there have been questions in the past about how solid his technique is, when fists start flying.

Volkanovski sided with Green when giving his picks for the card and he believes that a crucial aspect of this fight will be the 155-pound stalwart playing his usual game.

“I’m going to have to go with Bobby Green, I think he’s the safer bet here. It’s going to be a three-round fight. Paddy Pimblett, yeah I find it, it’s going to be hard for him to take him down and get a finish. Can he go and upset, you know, hometown crowd. I don’t think that’s going to faze Bobby Green.

“Again, Bobby Green’s going to put himself in positions where Paddy Pimblett’s going to feel he can fire and going to lull him into shots. I guarantee we’re going to see that pretty much straight away. I feel Bobby Green’s going to hit him, hurt him, maybe Paddy Pimblett would start trying to look for the shots straight after that. Does he get them? Or does he get hurt straight away? I’m not sure.”
