A lightweight tournament got underway and two crowns were up for grabs at Pancrase Impressive Tour 4 at the Differ Ariake in Tokyo Wednesday night.

With Maximo Blanco vacating his King of Pancrase title, Koji Oishi made it three for three against Daisuke Hanazawa, claiming the lightweight crown in the process.

In a rematch of their 2009 classic, Manabu Inoue again showed the heart of a champion as he hounded the hard-hitting Seiya Kawahara for three rounds to retain his bantamweight title.

Full results are after the break.

World Victory Road’s end of year event “Sengoku: Soul of Fight” is an ambitious effort. Twenty-eight men’ss and women’s bouts fought under MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing, “jacket rules”, a featherweight title fight and welterweight and bantamweight tournaments.

Even more ambitious would be an attempt to predict every single outcome on one of the biggest fight cards of all time. Fortunately for my keyboard and my sleep schedule, I’m not an ambitious man and so after the jump I’ll break down the fights that you need to know about for the first of two huge nights in Japanese MMA.

Sengoku Raiden Championship promoter World Victory Road today announced the matchups for SRC Bantamweight Asia Tournament 2010 Quarterfinals, to be held at SRC 15 on October 30 in Tokyo, Japan.

Four seeded fighters from Shooto, Pancrase, Cage Force and ZST have joined the four remaining fighters, brining the total back up to eight. Former Shooto champ Akitoshi Tamura will face Shoko Sato, reigning Bantamweight King of Pancrase Manabu Inoue will take on Jae Hyun So, Cage Force veteran Taiyo Nakahara will return from a two year layoff against Shintaro Ishiwatari and Shunichi Shimizu will represent ZST against Kazushi Sakuraba student Wataru Takahashi.

Leo Santos‘ victory by receiving repeated low blows at SRC 14 was probably not ideal but he will get another chance against Sengoku Training Player Maximo Blanco – the winner a likely candidate for a lightweight title fight on New Year’s Eve.
