Manny Pacquiao has heard Floyd Mayweather’s talk of an exhibition bout between the pair in Japan, and he’s not buying into it.

Mayweather recently took to his Instagram page where he teased he’d be fighting Manny Pacquiao in Japan for an exhibition contest. The boxing world has been clamoring for a rematch between the pair from their initial meeting back in 2015 where Mayweather took home a decision victory over his longtime rival. It was the fight the boxing world had been waiting to see for so many years, perhaps coming to fruition far too late.

According to a report from The Philippine Star, MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons called Mayweather’s claim, “All nonsense.” Gibbons added he has no idea “what my brother Floyd is up to,” but admitted he’s definitely up to something. The International Business Times reports Pacquiao himself responded to the video hours after Mayweather released it.

Pacquiao, in his native language, said he believes a rematch with Mayweather should be a “real boxing match,” before asking “why an exhibition? Make it a real fight.” One of Pacquiao’s associates, David Sisson, added he believes “it’s just Mayweather using Manny’s name again.”

Do you think Pacquiao and Mayweather will ever run things back?

Boxing fans might just get their wish after all.

After his thrilling performance against Keith Thurman earlier this summer, Manny Pacquiao got the combat sports world talking about a potential rematch with Floyd Mayweather. Of course, Mayweather has retired from boxing (again) after beating Conor McGregor for his 50th consecutive victory, remaining undefeated in the sport.

However, after Pacquiao’s win, the boxing world has been buzzing to see “Money” run things back with the Philippine politician. Now, it could be happening. Mayweather took to his official Instagram page to tease an exhibition bout with Pacquiao in Japan.

Check out the video below.

Mayweather and Pacquiao initially fought back in 2015, with Mayweather taking home the decision victory. However, Pacquiao was dealing with a shoulder injury heading into the fight, leaving many to believe Mayweather didn’t fight the very best version of Pacquiao that night. While an exhibition bout wouldn’t count against Mayweather’s official boxing record, it would certainly be interesting to see the longtime rivals square off yet again inside the ring.

Especially with Pacquiao being so active as of late, taking out younger opponents, and winning titles, such as the WBA (Super) welterweight title he recently won.

Talk of a rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is once again beginning to heat up.

Pacquiao comes off a WBA welterweight title victory over Keith Thurman this past weekend. “The Pac-Man” has since been showered with questions about a potential rematch with “Money” after their initial meeting in 2015. Mayweather won the bout via decision, however, it was later revealed Pacquiao was fighting with a torn rotator cuff.

All the talk about a potential rematch seems to have upset Mayweather, who posted the following lengthy statement on Instagram:

“I find it real ironic how every time Pacquiao’s name is brought up in the media, my name is always attached to it. This man’s entire legacy and career has been built off its association with my name and it’s about time you all stop using my brand for clout chasing and clickbait and let that man’s name hold weight of its own.

“For years, all you heard was that ” Floyd is afraid of Manny Pacquiao”. But what’s funny is, when we finally fought, I won so easily that everyone had to eat their words! All of the so called boxing experts, critics and jealous American “fan base” either went mute and ran for cover or made every excuse in the world as to why I should give Manny Pacquiao a rematch.

“My take on all this bullshit is that y’all are just upset that I broke Rocky Marciano’s record and hate the fact that a Black, high school dropout outsmarted you all by beating all odds and retiring undefeated while maintaining all my faculties simply by making smart choices and even smarter investments. Ultimately, I will always have the last laugh!”

Pacquiao swiftly responded to Mayweather’s comments with a brief message on his Twitter page:

“.@FloydMayweather You come to my fight and then use my name in a post but I’m the one that is trying to stay relevant? if you want to be relevant again… #MayPac2

Mayweather then posted another lengthy response on his Instagram page:

“SWIPE LEFT Let’s stick to the facts! Bob Arum is no longer your promoter, so when it comes to @mayweatherpromotions & PBC events I’m the HNIC!
Bottom line, I make more money than you; I beat you, then I signed you!

“I was only at your fight supervising you, my employee, as any real BOSS would do. You made $10Million for 12 rounds, when I just made $9M in under 3 minutes playing around in an exhibition with a pizza delivery guy! I beat you mentally, physically and financially!
Remember, you fight cause you have to, I fight when I want to!”

Pacquiao responded with one final blow, suggesting he’ll draw up a fight contract and send it to Mayweather for him to sign:

“Excuse me Floyd, your name has not been on any of my PBC contracts. But if you would like to be on the next one, I will have one drawn up and sent to you. #CounterfeitMoney

Last night (Sat. July 20, 2019) Manny Pacquiao pulled off an impressive feat by handing undefeated 30-year-old Keith Thurman the first loss of his career.

Pacquiao, 40, defeated Thurman after 12 rounds of championship boxing. It was a truly stunning performance from the Philippine, who is the new WBA welterweight champion of the world. After the bout, many began to speculate what will be next for “Pac-Man.” Given he was in attendance for the fight, it was speculated a rematch with Floyd Mayweather could be next.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated after the fight, Pacquiao addressed a potential rematch with “Money.” Here’s what he had to say (via BJPenn.com):

“I don’t have an idea. My plan this time is one fight at a time. He’s in retirement and he’s enjoying his retirement. He’s inactive. If he’s willing to come back and willing to fight me, then at the time he will announce it, we can say yes.”

Pacquiao and Mayweather first fought back in May of 2015. The pair finally met after several years of buildup, going all 12 rounds for Mayweather’s unified welterweight titles. However, Mayweather remained undefeated when it was all said and done, taking home the victory with a unanimous decision.

It was subsequently revealed that Pacquiao fought with a torn rotator cuff. Fans have been clamoring for a rematch between the pair in which Pacquiao is fully healthy. Only time will tell if that will happen.
