Opening up the UFC Vegas 17 main card is a heavyweight clash between Marcin Tybura and Greg Hardy.

Round 1: Both fighters clinch up momentarily but return to striking. Tybura is landing a couple of nice body kicks. Hardy lands a right but Tybura eats it. Hardy connects with a leg kick but Tybura counters by rushing forward with a blitz. Tybura is having plenty of success with his striking but neither fighter has been seriously hurt yet. Hardy lands a nice body shot and follows it up with a hook that seems to have caught Tybura’s attention. The momentum is now with Hardy as he connects with plenty of strikes. Tybura goes for the takedown but Hardy defends and unloads a barrage of right hands. Tybura somehow eats them all and remains on his feet. The round comes to an end.

Round 2: Tybura is having early success in the second round as he lands a couple of left hooks. However, Hardy is doing well with his countering and appears to be much faster as of now. Tybura slips a Hardy strike and goes for a takedown but Hardy defends it once again. Tybura is mixing things up with kicks while threatening with the takedown. However, he is still yet to hurt Hardy. He goes for a deep double leg takedown and finally manages to take Hardy down. Tybura starts to land a number of hammerfists and Hardy isn’t doing anything to defend them. The referee calls an end to the fight.

The next UFC Fight Island 5 bout is at heavyweight. Long-time contender Ben Rothwell is hoping to stretch his current win streak to three. Marcin Tybura is looking to do the same. Someones’ good form has got to end. Let’s find out who it’ll be.

Round 1: Ben Rothwell pushes forward early. He let’s a flurry of punches fly. Marcin Tybura eats them all and gets back to the center of the Octagon. They momentarily break before Rothwell goes back to work. Lot’s of volume coming from Rothwell. He seems to want to get this one early. Tybura isn’t moving. He’s eating everything coming at him and firing back well. Rothwell is starting to slow down, perhaps understanding this is a tougher fight than anticipated. Tybura lands a nice one-two. Rothwell is targeting the body. This is a really fast paced first round between two in form heavyweights. Tybura is popping the jab to maintain range. Rothwell continues to press forward bobbing and weaving as he throws punches followed by a high kick. They clinch up and work the dirty boxing on the inside before breaking. Tybura rips in a big body kick. Rothwell takes a step back for a couple seconds before continuing his forward press. Lot’s of volume and a failed high kick attempt from ‘Big Ben’ before round one ends.

Round 2: A much slower start to round two. Tybura is actually the one pressing forward landing lots of straight shots. After about one minute aggressive Rothwell returns. He’s walking in square just trying to take his opponents head off. They end up against the fence, exchanging techniques and swapping positions. Back to the middle. Tybura is looking good in round two. He’s still eating some shots but is able to get off more of his own and he’s winning the clinch exchanges. Tybura lands and Rothwell seems to wobble for a moment. Maybe not, because now he’s steaming forward with a flurry of punches. He’s showing lots of heart and aggression but is being picked off in this round. Tybura is the much fresher fighter and is getting better as the fight progresses with avoiding his opponent’s attacks. Round two ends with Rothwell pressing forward. He lands a shot just after the horn sounds to end the second stanza.

Round 3: Tybura pops the jab at the start of the final round. He follows up with a straight down the pipe. Rothwell jumps in lands. He is getting picked apart by the Polish fighter though who is able to land several more than his opponent in each exchange. Tybura is really looking like a slick boxer in here. He’s pinging Rothwell with shots, dipping out the way of shots – now he shoots in for a takedown. Tybura takes the fight to the mat. He’s in the guard throwing short shots staying busy. Tybura postures up to avoid a triangle attempt before jumping back into the guard and hammering away with ground strikes. As the clock ticks down Tybura is putting more power in his punches. Rothwell doesn’t seem able to get up he’s stuck in a tough spot. In the final 30 seconds, Tybura is pouring it on lots of punches, elbows up until the final bell.

UFC Norfolk continues to take shape.

The promotion returns to Norfolk on February 29 for UFC on ESPN+ 27. And the latest additions to the card are highlighted by a heavyweight bout featuring Sergey Spivac and Marcin Tybura.

Spivac recently earned the biggest win of his career when he submitted Tai Tuivasa at UFC 243 back in October. Tybura, meanwhile, will look to end a two-fight losing skid. The Polish heavyweight is coming off TKO losses to Shamil Abdurakhimov and Augusto Sakai.

Other additions to UFC Norfolk include a lightweight bout between Giga Chikadze and Mike Davis as well as a light heavyweight bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Ion Cutelaba.

UFC Norfolk will be headlined by Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiro as they collide for the vacant flyweight strap.

Marcin Tybura’s grappling scored him a win over Stefan Struve.

Two heavyweights took the stage of UFC Hamburg for the event’s third main card bout. Tybura and Struve did battle in what felt like a must-win situation for both men. Both fighters were coming off back-to-back losses.

An inside leg kick from Tybura got things started. Struve answered with his own leg kick. Tybura scored a takedown with just under one minute into the opening frame. Tybura dropped some punches. Struve tried workng off his back, but nothing doing. Referee Marc Goddard stood both men back up. Struve threw out his jab. He went to the leg kicks. Tybura scored a takedown near the end of the round.

Struve went high with a kick in round two, but it was blocked. Tybura was able to dump his opponent back down to the mat. Goddard warned Struve of putting his toes in the fence. Struve was able to get back to his feet. Tybura pushed his opponent against the fence. Tybura slammed Struve down. The round ended with Tybura in top control.

A leg kick was there for Tybura in the final frame. He connected with a right hand. A hard outside leg kick was there for Struve. He fired off a combination. Tybura’s takedown attempt was thwarted. He shot in again with Struve’s back against the fence. Once again, Tybura scored a takedown. The final horn sounded with Tybura in control. This was an easy one to score.

Final Result: Marcin Tybura def. Stefan Struve via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
