O’Malley, who is known for his extravagant hairstyles has decided to switch it up once again. ‘Suga’ posted the below photo to his Instagram where he appears to have dyed his hair to the colours of the Ecuadorian flag – the country Vera is from. So far, ‘Chito’ is yet to react to the not so subtle troll attempt from his future opponent.
Vera is coming off a controversial loss to Song Yadong. The defeat snapped his five-fight winning run and meant he dropped out of the bantamweight rankings. O’Malley is the man who replaced Vera in the top after scoring a highlight-reel KO over former title challenger Eddie Wineland.
He’ll put his perfect 12-0 record and his bantamweight ranking on the line against Vera on the undercard of UFC 252 which will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight. Stipe Miocic will defend his belt against Daniel Cormier in a fight that sees the pair square off for the thirds and final time.

Sean O’Malley has announced he will return to action against Marlon Vera at UFC 252 on August 15. Both fighters have gone on record to express their desire to fight each other and now it appears they have got their wish. O’Malley spoke about a potential fight with Vera in the aftermath of his highlight-reel knockout win against Eddie Wineland at UFC 250, he said.
“Marlon Vera is a fight I’d definitely be interested in doing after it was supposed to happen last year. I don’t know what will be next though, that’s up to Sean Shelby. He will come to me with a name and we will figure it out.”
‘Suga’ took to his YouTube channel earlier today to announce he had signed a contract to face ‘Chito’ at UFC 252, he said.
“The Suga Show is back, August 15 against ‘Chito’ Marlon Vera. It’s signed on my side. I don’t know if it’s signed on his side, but it’s happening. It’s going down.”
MMA Junkie has since confirmed the fight contract has also been signed by Vera, making this bantamweight bout official for August 15.
O’Malley has picked up back-to-back KO victories since returning from his two-year USADA imposed sit from the sport. He has climbed into the bantamweight rankings and currently sits #14 in the division.
Vera dropped out of the rankings after suffering a controversial loss to Song Yadong. The 27-year-old lost a unanimous decision the Team Alpha Male fighter on the undercard of Alistair Overeem vs. Walt Harris in May. Prior to that Vera was riding an impressive five-fight win streak.

Sean O’Malley’s next fight just might be in progress.
On Wednesday, the bantamweight contender suggested Marlon Vera as a potential next opponent for him in a post on Instagram.
“Who wants to see me Knock Out Cheeto?”
Vera responded soon after as he was receptive to the idea and is clearly confident of getting the win over O’Malley.
“I’m gonna murk you Stevia.
“Send me the papers and I promise you I’ make this guy quick and beg me to stop.
“Just by been related to Ben askren you’re already f*ck[ed] son. #deathass”
On Thursday, “Chito” went a step further and revealed the fight was already in the works.
“Stevia69 vs Marlon Chito in the works @ufc”
It should be noted that the pair were originally set to compete in early 2019 until problems with the United States Anti-Doping Agency further delayed O’Malley’s return to the Octagon.
“Sugar” is coming off an impressive first-round knockout win over Eddie Wineland at UFC 250 earlier this month. Vera, meanwhile, is coming off a controversial split decision loss to Song Yadong last month.
