Max Holloway recently garnered widespread fan admiration after making a heartfelt plea to end gun violence, offering a unique suggestion to tackle the serious issue.

“Blessed” is preparing for his third crack at featherweight gold as he challenges reigning champion Ilia Topuria in the highly anticipated main event of UFC 308, set for October 26 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Holloway is a proud native of Hawaii and consistently bears the mantle of his home state with him wherever he goes. He’s fiercely devoted to the causes of the “Aloha State”, and his deep-rooted dedication to Hawaii and its people is unmistakable.

Whether it’s partnering with the UFC to establish a fitness clubhouse for the youth in Waianae or passionately advocating for support and raising funds during the devastating 2023 wildfires on the island of Maui, “Blessed” has consistently shown a deep emotional connection and commitment to the native Hawaiian community.

MMA Fans Applaud Holloway’s Resolute Position Against Gun Violence In Hawaii

During an interview with KHON2 News on Tuesday, Holloway addressed the recent series of shooting incidents in Waianae. The BMF titleholder strongly condemned the growing gun violence across the United States, urging people to resolve their conflicts in a boxing gym instead of resorting to firearms.

“It sucks, man. Put the gun down, boys. Put ‘em down. If you guys have a problem, do it the old-school way,” Holloway said. “Go to the boxing gym, put on some gloves, punch each other, shake hands, and be on with it.”

“Blessed” went on to suggest that instead of turning to gun violence, people should channel their frustrations into something harmless, like playing video games.

The MMA community responded to Holloway’s remarks with a wave of support, widely praising the UFC superstar for his unconventional and thoughtful suggestions.

One fan embraced Holloway’s notion, stating that guns never solve any problems and only create more chaos.

“Holloway is on point. You never settle a dispute with a gun. It’s not worth ending a life and ruining your own.”

Another fan jokingly remarked that Holloway is the only fighter capable of simultaneously holding both the “Baddest Motherf**ker” and the “Nicest Motherf**ker” titles.

“Max the only fighter that can hold the BMF and NMF belt simultaneously.”

One fan remarked that “Blessed” is a true treasure for the people of Hawaii.

“Good to see Max being a benefit to his community. Hope he beats Topuria.”

One fan playfully suggested that Holloway should throw his hat into the ring for the U.S. presidency.

“Max Holloway for POTUS 2025.”

“Max Holloway is forever a legend. Gangster move.”

“Max out here doing the Lord’s work.”

“Spoken like a true man.”

“What a natural-born leader this guy is. Much respect.”

“Because people are soft now and scared to lose a fistfight.”

Is Ilia Topuria Lying? UFC Champ Takes Polygraph Test on Camera

Ilia Topuria may say he feels invincible, but the lie detector test determined that was a lie.

During a recent interview with his brother, the reigning UFC featherweight champion was hooked up to a polygraph and was asked if he truly believed he could defeat any opponent the promotion puts in front of him. Unsurprisingly, ‘El Matador’ answered in the affirmative, but the polygraph indicated otherwise, suggesting that Topuria was lying.

Despite the result, Topuria remained adamant about his invincibility.

“I’ve always felt invincible,” Topuria said. “This [Polygraph] can say whatever it wants to say.”

Ilia Topuria puts his gold up for grabs at UFC 308

In a few short weeks, Ilia Topuria will have the opportunity to put his confidence on full display when he defends the 145-pound title for the first time since taking the belt from Alexander Volkanovski in February. ‘El Matador’ will face current BMF titleholder Max Holloway when the promotion heads back to Abu Dhabi for a loaded UFC 308 card at Etihad Arena.

Ilia Topuria

‘Blessed’ earned his shot via a buzzer-beating knockout against Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 to capture the promotion’s bragging rights belt. Holloways’ BMF title won’t be up for grabs in the UAE, something Topuria was admittedly frustrated by.

“No, the BMF title is not going to be on the line,” Topuria told MMA Junkie in August. “To be honest, I don’t care. They took that decision and at the end of the day it’s like, when I’m going to beat him he can’t say he’s a BMF or however they want to call him. I’m just concentrating on my title defense and that’s it. I don’t care about anything else.”

Holloway is a former featherweight champion, having captured the interim title with a win over Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis before TKO’ing Jose Aldo at UFC 212 to become the division’s undisputed king. Blessed’ successfully defended the title three times, defeating Aldo in a rematch, Brian Ortega, and Frankie Edgar.

Holloway surrendered the title to Volkavnovski at UFC 245 and failed to reclaim the belt in back-to-back rematches with ‘The Great,’ forcing him to move on from the featherweight title picture. Now, with Volkanovski no longer sitting on the throne and ‘Blessed’ banking three straight wins, Holloway is ready to kickstart a new title reign in 2024.

At UFC 300, Justin Gaethje was on the receiving end of Max Holloway’s iconic last-second KO. The former UFC featherweight champion broke Gaethje’s nose towards the end of the first and was winning comfortably on the scorecards, making the moment all the more special.

The loss to Holloway might be a tough pill to swallow for “The Highlight”. After losing to Charles Oliveira in a title fight, he bounced back by beating Rafael Fiziev via decision and then knocking out Dustin Poirier with a head kick. A win over Holloway could’ve set him up for a title shot against Islam Makhachev.

Holloway will soon be back in action, while Gaethje has yet to spar again. Here’s how the former interim UFC lightweight champion thinks the UFC 308 main event would go…

Justin Gaethje Honestly Admits Why He’s Backing Max Holloway To Beat Ilia Topuria At UFC 308

Gaethje talked about his UFC return with some reporters from outlets like MMA Junkie at Top Golf in Las Vegas recently. After mentioning the four ideal opponents, he discussed the UFC 308 main event between Ilia Topuria and Holloway.

“The Highlight” expects the challenger to emerge victorious but was heavily impressed by Topuria’s performance against Volkanovski. He appreciated the current UFC featherweight kingpin for being patient and executing his game plan perfectly at UFC 298.

Gaethje admitted that he would like Holloway to win also because the latter knocked him out cold at UFC 300. “Blessed” overwhelmed his opponent with patient yet clear striking and a similar strategy might help him reclaim gold at UFC 308.

Here’s what the former UFC BMF title holder said when asked to pick between Topuria and Holloway:

“I mean, I really hope that Max wins. I mean, Ilia was so impressive with Volkanovski, his patience. He fought an amazing fight. Um, I don’t know. I expected something different than I saw from Max, I was very impressed. And so, in my mind, I can’t see him losing but that’s cause I just got put to sleep by him.”

Sean O’Malley recently asserted that after Ilia Topuria’s upcoming clash with Max Holloway, the only clear course for “El Matador” is a showdown with him.

Topuria is gearing up to defend his featherweight crown for the first time in a highly anticipated clash against Holloway, headlining UFC 308 on October 26 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

“Suga” has been zeroing in on Topuria ever since retaining his bantamweight title against former foe Marlon Vera at UFC 299 this past March. Following his victory, O’Malley wasted no time in calling out the Georgian-Spanish fighter, even trading jabs with him on social media and igniting talk of a potential champ vs. champ super fight.

However, before O’Malley can lock horns with Topuria, he must first overcome another Georgian obstacle — Merab Dvalishvili.

The 29-year-old Montana native is set to put his title on the line against “The Machine’ in the headlining bout of Noche UFC 306, taking place this Saturday inside the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Suga” is convinced that once Topuria finishes business with Holloway, he’ll need to face a high-profile opponent like him…

O’Malley Shares Mixed Feelings On Possible Topuria Match

During a recent interview with Bleacher Report, O’Malley weighed in on a potential super fight with Topuria.

The reigning UFC bantamweight champ expressed that, after Noche UFC 306, he has no shortage of challengers waiting in the wings. However, he believes “El Matador” will be left without a worthy opponent after defending his title against Holloway.

“The more I think about the Ilia fight, I’m like, you know what, Ilia needs me,” O’Malley said. “Who’s he going to fight next? [If] he goes out there and beats Max [Holloway at UFC 308], who is he going to fight next? I have guys lined up. I have big fights. Ilia needs me more than I need Ilia.”

However, “Suga” voiced some hesitation, suggesting that he doubts Topuria will even make it past “Blessed” at UFC 308.

Instead, he floated the idea of facing rising star Umar Nurmagomedov, a fight “The Young Eagle” has previously likened to the magnitude of the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor showdown.

“To be honest, I don’t think he’s gonna get past Max anyway, so I’m kind of switching gears from that. We got guys like Umar that I think are going to be massive fights,” O’Malley added.”

Although Topuria, who knocked out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 to capture the 145-pound title, has never openly entertained the idea of facing O’Malley, he didn’t entirely dismiss it.

After O’Malley called him out following UFC 299, “El Matador” left the door open for a potential showdown, fueling further speculation about a future clash.

Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is offering his prediction for the upcoming bantamweight title showdown between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili in the main event of UFC 306.

Max Holloway on Sean O’Malley Vs. Merab Dvalishvili

‘Blessed’ Max Holloway is celebrated for his striking skills and high-volume fighting style, making him one of the top contenders in the featherweight division. He will look to recapture his title at UFC 308 against the knockout striker Ilia Topuria.

‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley is the current UFC Bantamweight Champion, recognized for his flashy striking and knockout power. With a record of 17 wins and 1 loss, O’Malley has quickly become a fan favorite, known for his unique fighting style.

The top-ranked Georgian Wrestler Merab Dvalishvili is known for his relentless pace and grappling ability. He has an impressive record of 16 wins and 4 losses, showcasing his stamina and wrestling skills, which have made him a challenging opponent.

'Won't be done again': Dana White says UFC 306 will never happen again

The Hawaiian-born Max Holloway offers his prediction for the UFC bantamweight title fight going down at The Sphere in Las Vegas at UFC 306. Speaking on YouTube, he explained:

“Merab — great cardio, great pressure, great fighter. But one hole in his game that we’ve seen over and over again is he gets caught. He gets caught, and he gets caught early. It’s almost like he needs to get woken up, and then he finally turns on and the gears start working. Everything starts flowing, and he gets after it. “

But if there’s one guy in the bantamweight division that you do not wanna get caught by, it’s Sean. A lot of guys tease Sean, how he’s skinny and lanky and long and looks brittle and blah blah blah. He looks like this. He dyes his hair, bro. That’s just who he is. That’s just how he is. That’s how he carries himself. But you cannot take away that this guy can fight.

“This guy can crack. He knocks people out. He lands. He’s a sharp shooter. And my belief, in this fight, a lot of people have been asking me and waiting to see who I pick. I’m going Sean, man. I’m going Sean. Merab, he likes getting hit.” [Ht MMAMania]
