Yup, Mayhem Miller Got Arrested Yesterday. Again. [UPDATED]

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Potato Nation, Jason “Mayhem” Miller has entered Kat Williams Mode.

Yes, after being arrested twice in the past two weeks for felony domestic violence and releasing a bizarre “apology” that channeled both Damian Marley and Buffalo Bill, the former Strikeforce and UFC middleweight has been arrested again, according to FOX Sport’s Mike Chiappetta. There are no details as of yet in regards to the newest charges Miller was brought in on, but we’re gonna take a swing at it and say domestic violence  [Ed. note: Well, close enough. See update below.]

Including his previous arrests in 2011 and 2012 for assault and bath salt B&E, respectively, this latest case brings the total number of times Miller has been arrested to five, yet he has once again been released on bond. And here you were questioning the competency of the American justice system. We hope you feel foolish.

There’s not much else to say, really (which is pretty much what I said the last time I touched upon Mayhem’s downward spiral). The story of Jason Miller has gone from bad to worse. To worse. To “Are you fucking kidding me?!” At this point, we just hope that Miller can somehow find help before he winds up killing someone, God forbid. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like he’s trying all that hard to find it.

We will keep you updated as information is made available. Even if none such information is provided, we figure Mayhem is more than likely planning to give a public statement from the top of Mount Doom (or wherever he’s currently calling home) any day now. We’re glass half full kind of guys.

[UPDATE]

The plot thickens (via MMAFighting):

Following a Monday night arrest and release in Orange County, Calif., for an alleged violation of a “stay away” order, Miller appeared in the Superior Court of California’s Newport Beach courtroom Tuesday morning.

There, he was booked on a contempt of court charge and remanded to a local jail after entering a not guilty plea. He has a preliminary hearing set for the morning of Oct. 10.

Miller was remanded Tuesday on California Penal Code 166(c)(1), which holds a defendant in contempt of court for “any willful and knowing violation of any protective order or stay-away court order issued … in a pending criminal proceeding involving domestic violence.”

The long and the short of it: Miller was arrested for violating a “stay away” order, the punishment of which was the contempt of court charge he received this morning for knowingly violating said “stay away” order.

Miller’s most recent offense is considered a misdemeanor punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and a year in jail. Tack that onto the 4+ years he is already facing and it looks like not even Saul Goodman could keep Miller out of a federal penitentiary at this point.

Report: Jason Miller’s First Court Appearance for Domestic Violence Charges Marked by Bizarre Behavior, Disturbing Allegations

(“Your honor, I’d like to answer these charges through 45 minutes of interpretive breakdancing.” / Photo via Getty)

Troubled ex-MMA fighter Jason “Mayhem” Miller attended an arraignment hearing yesterday in Orange County, California, where he pled not guilty to two felony counts of corporal injury of spouse, or domestic abuse, stemming from a pair of recent arrests. A reporter from SciFighting.com was on the scene and passed along details from the hearing, which apparently didn’t go so well for Miller. Here are some highlights…

– “As Miller was brought into the defendant’s cage, he looked wildly around the nearly vacant room with eyes full of confusion. His defense attorney approached him, and Mayhem stressed to her ‘I need to get out tonight, it’s imperative.’ Immediately following the interaction, his hands were photographed to show where his girlfriend allegedly bit him and took off large pieces of his skin.”

– “Mayhem Miller’s alleged victim, known to the court as Ana Pricilla (but known to Mayhem as Anna Stable), says that during the second assault case she was urinated on and choked until she fell on the floor, where she was punched and kicked viciously. In defense, Mayhem’s attorney stated that the victim was asked to leave the house, and Jason’s father witnessed her attacking Jason.”

– “At this point in the hearing, Judge Manssourian scolded Mayhem because he was making faces and nodding his head in every direction. The fighter apologized, explaining he is ‘an expressive person’ and that he’s ‘an artist’. The judge dismissed his statements, and advised him he is best served to be silent and allow his attorney to speak on his behalf.”

The judge dismissed his statements, and advised him he is best served to be silent and allow his attorney to speak on his behalf.”

– “The hearing continued and the People then suggested that the judge take into account the bruises and lacerations that the victim allegedly had. Mayhem’s defense replied that ‘the victim trains (in) MMA’ as well, and would probably have those anyway. She did not go to the hospital or report these injuries the night of the conflict, instead opting to sleep at Jason’s house and report the event weeks later. It is also pointed out that not only does Jason have a restraining order against this woman, so do a few of her past boyfriends.”

– “The People cite evidence against Miller, including many [social] media posts made by him in the past. Apparently, Miller sent the victim Snapchats of her and her mother walking while he dubbed the words ‘Satan Satan Satan’ in the backround. Three different Twitter posts made by Jason were acknowledged as threatening to the victim, the first being ‘IF YOU ARE READING THIS WITH FEAR IN YOUR HEART, MAYBE’LL KILL YOU’ His twitter name is cited as ‘Maybe,’ and the defense stated that this could be directed at anybody, including Dana White (whom the court referred to as the ‘President of the WWF’). His second and third posts were ‘SOME PEOPLE PREFER PRISONERS OVER PARTNERS. IF THEY CAN’T HAVE YOU, NO ONE CAN. CAN’T KILL MAYBE’ and one simply stating ‘DIE DIE DIE’.

“To end the proceedings, the District Attorney and Judge Manssourian stated that Miller’s tweets deem him a threat to society, to which Mayhem loudly replied ‘Judge, I am an artist!’ He was quickly silenced by his defense attorney. The court placed a protective order on Ana Pricilla, and banned Jason Miller from owning firearms.”

Miller’s bail was re-set at $100,000 after the charges from his two August arrests were combined into one case. His pre-trial is scheduled for this Friday, August 30th, and his preliminary hearing is slated for September 9th.

Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller Arrested Again on Felony Domestic Violence Charge, Is Currently Being Held on Bond

(We hope you find the strength to leave him, Noodles. / Image via ennvy)

For the third time since his retirement in May 2012, Jason “Mayhem” Miller has been arrested. According to records, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department arrested Miller on Thursday and the ex-fighter is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Miller’s next court appearance is scheduled for Monday. According to Bloody Elbow, “Mayhem” has been charged with corporal injury of a spouse or domestic partner which is a felony. Less than two weeks ago, on August 11th, Miller was also arrested on domestic violence charges and was released after posting bond.

In 2012, shortly after his retirement, Miller was arrested for allegedly breaking into a California church. Before that, “Mayhem” was arrested in 2011 after a fight with his sister.

We’re not really sure what to say at this point, ‘Taters. For years, it appeared as if Miller was simply having a good time, fighting hard and playing up the more silly parts of his personality. But now it’s evident that he is having problems keeping himself out of bad situations, almost all of them involving alleged violence against others.

We’ll keep you posted with updates as they occur.

Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller Releases Rastafarian-Themed Apology Following His Domestic Violence Arrest, And It Is F*cking Crazy

(We still haven’t tracked down Miller’s latest mugshot, but in the meantime, here’s a photo of him in drag dancing with a sexy cop.)

In his first public statement since he allegedly beat up a woman at his home, former MMA fighter Jason “Mayhem” Miller has published a post on his official website apologizing and asking for forgiveness. Now, admitting guilt on the Internet might not be the wisest move from a legal perspective if he intends to fight the charges later. Then again, he might be building an airtight case for temporary insanity. Check out Miller’s statement below, along with our annotations…

* “Hear me now” (pronounced “ear mih nah”) is a common expression in reggae/dancehall music, as well as in reggae/dancehall parodies.

** “I and I” is a Rastafari expression used to signify the oneness of God and Man.

*** “Jah” is the Rastafari name for God.

**** Unclear. Miller may have been pondering the timeless mystery of the Rolling Rock bottle.

***** As far as I can tell, Mayhem is phonetically transcribing Acts 3:19 in tagalog. Acts 3:19 reads, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Makes sense.

****** i.e., the Lion of Judah, an Ethiopian symbol for Emperor Haile Selassie I borrowed by the Rastafari movement. When used by an American, it often signifies a disturbing shift in identity.

So yeah, pretty bizarre stuff. We can only hope that one day, after he’s released from jail, Mayhem can look back on this insanity and blame it on sleep-deprivation and energy drinks.

“Mayhem” Update: Details Reveal Domestic Violence Charge the Result of a Text Message Argument

At this point, I’m as sick of writing about former UFC/Strikeforce/DREAM/Bully Beatdown star Jason “Mayhem” Miller as you are of reading about him. “He doesn’t fight anymore, so why are we still talking about him?! RABBLE! RABBLE!!” some of you have angrily typed, and to some extent I agree with you. But the fact remains that Miller is a twelve year MMA veteran, an oft entertaining, oft frustrating, but always intriguing figure who has given his heart and soul to the sport we love. Unfortunately, it appears that Miller’s mind was lost somewhere along the way as well.

The nude church break in. The “assault” on his sister. Lucky Patrick and his Twitter implosion. Clearly, Miller crossed the line between flamboyant martial artist and cartoon character who occasionally fights some time ago, and it appears that there is no turning back for him. It’s a realization that makes the news of his most recent domestic assault charge all the more infuriating. Miller’s coaching stint on TUF 14 proved that he is, or perhaps was, a mostly harmless manchild capable of intelligent thought and human decency (unlike say War Machine). His recent actions, however, have argued quite the contrary.

MMAMania, in accordance with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, was able to secure more solid details stemming from Miller’s recent arrest earlier today. The full police report can be found here, but we’ve compiled the bulk of it after the jump. It is abhorrent to say the least.

On Saturday, August 10, 2013, Sheriff’s personnel were advised by a caller that she was the victim of domestic violence that occurred on Saturday, August 3, 2013, in Mission Viejo.

Deputy C. Martin responded at approximately 1336 hours to the alleged victim’s location. The alleged victim reported that at approximately 2100 hours on Saturday, August 3, 2013, she and Jason Nicholas Miller were involved in an argument regarding a text message she found on Miller’s cellular phone. Deputies were unable to make contact with Miller on August 10th to obtain his statement.

On Sunday, August 11, 2013, at about 0530 hours, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Mission Viejo reference at loud party. When they arrived, they contacted Miller who was outside his residence yelling at his neighbors. Based on the report filed by the alleged victim, Miller was arrested for CPC 273.5, domestic violence.

Injuries to the alleged victim include multiple bruises covering both arms and both legs, laceration and bleeding above right eyebrow (approx. 1.5″ wide), and laceration to the right side of face (approx. 1.5″ wide). No property or weapons involved.

As we discussed with Bec Hyatt’s story of overcoming domestic violence, there is simply no excuse for what Miller did (if it turns out that he was actually responsible). Domestic violence is a hideous, shameful offense that needs to be immediately addressed and rebuked, especially when it is being dished out by a professional fighter.

Despite all his recent troubles, we truly hope that Miller can find some form of rehabilitation, be it incarceration or otherwise, to help pull him out of the darkness he currently resides in. But more than anything, we hope that the victim of Miller’s most recent outburst fully recovers from her injuries and receives the justice she so deserves.

We will have more on this story as it progresses.
