Mickey Gall knows that he is only on the UFC 203 pay-per-view main card because of his opponent, CM Punk.
Nevertheless, Gall is going to soak it all in ahead of Saturday and his much-hyped welterweight contest from Cleveland.
The 24-year-old Gall, though, doesn’t believe he should be on the official fight poster that has been plastered up around the world and online.
“I don’t think I should be on the poster yet – I know I shouldn’t be,” he said in an interview with MMAjunkie. “But I’m happy that I am. I’m fighting after Jimmie Rivera and Urijah Faber. It’s crazy.”
Gall earned a win in front of UFC president Dana White on “Lookin’ for a Fight.” That allowed him a chance to call-out Punk and earned him a fight in the Octagon. He is now 2-0 heading into the bout with the former WWE superstar, who will be making his MMA debut.
“Within the rules set, I’m going to be going in there to kill him,” Gall said.
And how about after?
“I’ll probably have a name in my mouth,” Gall said. “It got me to the dance. I’ll keep dancing with that.”

In our co-main event of the evening former heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum will take on a rather tall order of his own (literally), when he takes on No. 7-ranked Travis Browne in what could be a pivotal contest in the big boys’ division.
Also in what could very well be the most highly-anticipated fight of the card, former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star CM Punk will make his MMA debut against young up-and-coming welterweight prospect Mickey Gall on the main card as well.
The UFC has released the following UFC 203 Countdown video to get fight fans prepared for this weekend’s action, and you can check out the full near hour-long video here:

After almost two years of speculation, hype, and disappointment, former WWE heavyweight champion Phillip ‘CM Punk’ Brooks will finally make his awaited (?) Octagon debut against green prospect Mickey Gall on the main card of this weekend’s (Sat., September 10, 2016) UFC 203 from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
Brooks was originally unveiled as the biggest pro wrestling star to cross over and attempt mixed martial arts at December 6, 2014’s UFC 181, but a struggle to find him a suitable opponent coupled with delays in his development and a subsequent injury have pushed the bout off until now.
Few are giving Punk much of a chance against Gall, even though the 24-year-old only has two professional fights and two amateur bouts on his resume. To his credit, Gall, who was originally found on Dana White’s ‘Looking For A Fight,’ has finished three of those four total bouts, including his quick win over Mike Jackson in his UFC debut at February’s UFC Fight Night 82.
Regardless of if Punk can actually put up a fight (or even win), the fight is finally approaching, and the MMA world will be tuning in no matter what their feelings are about Brooks’ controversial debut. However, let’s hope that the fight isn’t put into any kind of jeopardy, as Gall showed up sporting a decent amount of stitches over his right eye in today’s (Sun., September 4, 2016) CM Punk vs. Mickey Gall Joe Rogan Preview from the UFC.

Former professional professional wrestler Philip “CM Punk” Brooks is gearing up to make his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) debut at September 10’s UFC 203 in a welterweight bout against Mickey Gall. Since signing with the UFC in December 2014, Punk has received quite a bit of criticism due to the fact that he’s never competed inside of a cage before. Leading up to the bout, the UFC has attempted to positively document his journey with a FOX Sports 1 series, but it has unfortunately been met with even more criticism.
Punk, however, said on a UFC 203 media call yesterday (September 1, 2016) that the series accurately depicted where he was a year and a half ago when he wasn’t in peak form, but that doesn’t matter to him at this point:
“It was a correct depiction of where I was at when it was shot,” Punk said. “Pre-back surgery, walking around with a herniated disc, 15 percent power in my left leg.”
“I wouldn’t say it’s unfair,” Punk said. “Life is unfair. But you can’t listen to what somebody on the Internet is saying about you, you know? You dig hard enough you’ll find negative stuff about everybody. I’m a positive guy. I know what I’m good at. I know what I’m gonna be good at. What I did a year and a half ago doesn’t matter to me.”
Continuing on, Punk claimed that he ‘wont be the same’ guy fans saw on the television show, but he also said that he expects Gall, who owns a 2-0 record, to be at his best:
“It would be like me watching one of Mickey’s fights and expecting to fight that guy,” Punk said. “Mickey trains his ass off and he trains with a good team. He’s not gonna be the same guy he was in his last fight, just like I’m not gonna be the same guy you saw on a television show.”
As noted, CM Punk took part in a media conference call with his opponent Mickey Gall on Thursday to promote their fight on the PPV card at UFC 203 later this month. As it has been since the fight was first announced, both guys were respectful of each other while promoting their upcoming showdown.
Regarding the fact that he might not be as colorful a character during the build-up to his Octagon debut that some fans may have expected, Punk pointed out that those are his fans are already cheering for him and those who weren’t are already rooting against him.
“I don’t see the need for it,” said Punk. “You know? People either love me or hate me already.”
Punk continued, “I’m not trying to talk anybody into the building on this one. I think the allure is just the fact that it’s happening. You know what I mean? And the story writes itself, so it’s not a fabricated thing where I need to, kind of create some drama between me and Mickey.”
As he wrapped up on the topic, he got down to the core of the issue — at the end of the day he’s going to step into the Octagon on September 10th and fight a trained MMA veteran selected by the UFC while his fans and detractors alike tune in live to see it.
“We’re going to fight. That’s the beauty of it,” said Punk. “You know? It doesn’t need to be a weird verbal p*ssing contest. I think some of these guys, while it is entertainment and it’s the sh*t-talk business, I just don’t see it.”
Punk concluded, “I don’t see it happening this time.”
Headlined by Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem for the UFC Heavyweight Championship in a striking fans dream matchup, which will be Miocic’s first defense of the title, and featuring the Punk-Gall contest, UFC 203 takes place from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, September 10, 2016.
