UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate was looking for her first title defense when she squared off against surging challenger Amanda Nunes in the main event of last night’s (Sat., July 9, 2016) UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tate came in as a sizeable favorite, yet a sliver of doubt was potentially cast upon her chances when she almost missed weigh-ins and had to take off her clothes to make weight for the championship fight.
And it may have had an effect, as Nunes came out fast out of the gates as expected and absolutly poured it on Tate after a missed takedown attempt on ‘Cupcake,’ landing a seemingly never-ending of pinpoint power shots to have the former champion nearly knocked out before finishing her with a tight modified rear-naked choke.
