Mike Jackson Responds To ‘School Girl’ Dana White

Jackson’s days in the UFC are likely done.

This past weekend (Sat. June 9, 2018) marked the second mixed martial arts (MMA) fight of former WWE Champion CM Punk inside the UFC Octagon.

Punk took on Mike “The Truth” Jackson in the opening bout of the UFC 225 pay-per-view (PPV) main card. The pair went the distance and Jackson took home a lopsided unanimous decision over the former professional wrestler.

It seemed throughout the fight that Jackson could’ve finished the fight whenever he wanted, but instead showboated and dragged the affair out. This upset UFC President Dana White, who called Jackson a “complete fucking idiot” and said his time in the UFC was done (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“Michael Jackson, I’m not happy with,” White said. “This guy was acting like a goofball tonight. You get this opportunity to fight CM Punk and you’re doing like bolo punches to the body on top? Never looked like he was trying to finish the fight ever, right?

“Looked like he could have finished the fight a few times. Never tried. I don’t know what that guy did for a living before we gave him this shot, but whatever it was he needs to go back and do that again. He’s 0-2 as far as I’m concerned.

“That’s it for his UFC career. I wouldn’t put that kid in the Contender Series. I got the sense that he’s a complete fucking idiot and I couldn’t wait for that fight to end and I regretted not putting it on Fight Pass,” White said. “That’s how I felt about it.”

Jackson recently did an interview with Bloody Elbow, and compared White to a “little school girl” who gets too into his feelings:

“It’s his opinion,” Jackson said. “That’s all I got to say about that. If that’s what he chooses to think and feel, it’s on him. Dana White is like a little school girl. He’s emotional. Sometimes, he’s feeling his feelings and he likes to make these little outbursts like a little kid. It doesn’t hurt my feelings.”

White isn’t the only person upset with Jackson for his antics at UFC 225. A lot of fans have taken to social media to express there displeasure with Jackson seemingly dragging the fight against Punk out. Jackson says those people are “beneath” him at this point in his life, and he doesn’t put much thought into it:

“I’m in a different space in my life. I don’t even really engage with these guys anymore,” Jackson said. “They’re beneath me. They can have their opinions, too; it really doesn’t matter. They’re followers.

“They listen to Uncle Dana. Dana gets mad, they get mad. Dana’s happy, they’re happy. Or sometimes, it’s like the polar opposite; Dana gets mad, they’re happy, and vice versa. You never know what’s gonna happen with fight fans. Fight fans are just as emotional as Dana. I know how to handle it. … I’m cool with it.”

Mike Jackson Reacts To Haters Of CM Punk Win

Mike Jackson fired back at all the haters:

MMA photographer and journalist Mike Jackson picked up a lopsided win over CM Punk (highlights here) on the main card of last night’s (Sat., June 9, 2018) UFC 225 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, but it may have done him more harm than good.

After the victory, Jackson was effectively raked over the coals by UFC President Dana White for his supposedly lackadaisical, taunting performance in a fight he could have finished if he had tried. It was so bad in the exec’s eyes that White confirmed Jackson was done in the UFC.

But Jackson, not surprisingly, has a different account of the events and offered his story on social media as the criticism rolled in. When a ‘fan’ online suggested he could have finished the fight at multiple junctures, ‘The Truth’ replied that while he was hitting Punk with repeated blows, he didn’t want to rush it and risk being the man who was finished by the inexperienced former WWE wrestler:

It’s a moot point to a certain degree, however, as many – possibly including White – felt the disrespect came when Jackson had Punk on the ground and was raining down lazy, almost joking ground blows. It was something another Twitter user pointed out to him and Jackson replied that he was simply looking at his corner rather than taunting Punk:

Justification aside, it seemed like Jackson indeed had the chance to finish Punk on at least one if not multiple occasions after being able to land varied strikes seemingly at will.

He chose to stay in Punk’s guard throwing lazy, spinning punches while staring off into space – he claims it was his corner for ‘instruction’ in a fight he was dominating – and he lost his UFC job for it.

Are you buying what he’s selling, or should have made a statement and ended the fight?

Dana White Absolutely Destroys Mike Jackson For UFC 225 Performance

Dana White absolutely went off on Mike Jackson for his UFC 225 win over CM Punk:

CM Punk’s UFC career came to a close in a laughable decision loss to Mike Jackson (highlights here) on the main card of last night’s (Sat., June 9, 2018) UFC 225 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

The one-sided affair saw Jackson land a decent volume of stinging, crisp punches on Punk, who mounted precious little offense outside of a first-round takedown.

UFC President Dana White said that at 39, it was time for Punk to step down from the UFC, praising his toughness for following his goals and setting foot in the octagon. He wasn’t as kind to Jackson, however, as he blasted the MMA photographer and journalist’s inability – or refusal – to finish the match-up at the UFC 225 post-fight presser (via MMA Fighting):

“Michael Jackson, I’m not happy with. This guy was acting like a goofball tonight. You get this opportunity to fight CM Punk and you’re doing like bolo punches to the body on top? Never looked like he was trying to finish the fight ever, right? Looked like he could have finished the fight a few times. Never tried. I don’t know what that guy did for a living before we gave him this shot, but whatever it was he needs to go back and do that again. He’s 0-2 as far as I’m concerned.”

A harsh ending for Jackson’s strange UFC run, where he was initially brought in to face Mickey Gall in late 2016 for the chance to fight CM Punk. He lost to Gall by rear-naked choke, and then Punk was sent packing in the exact same fashion against the exact same fighter in his octagon debut at UFC 203 in September 2016.

Jackson saw a stroke of luck, however, when Punk returned for his second fight after almost two years off and he got the fight he had to win a shot at in his first UFC bout. But he failed to capitalize on the big opportunity, and because of his clowning around, he wouldn’t be back in the UFC:

“That’s it for his UFC career,” White said. “I wouldn’t put that kid in the Contender Series.”

Finally, White said he was angry he put the bout anywhere but on Fight Pass as he watched on in horror waiting for the insult to MMA to end:

I got the sense that he’s a complete fucking idiot and I couldn’t wait for that fight to end and I regretted not putting it on Fight Pass,” White said. “That’s how I felt about it.”
