BKFC’s newest welterweight signing Mike Perry has left the door open to a return to mixed martial arts in the future.

After seven years as a professional in MMA, Perry’s switch to bare-knuckle boxing was announced last week. Perry had competed under the banner of the UFC ever since his debut defeat to Alan Jouban in 2016. Fans will no doubt remember him best for his brutal finishes against Jake Ellenberger and Alex Reyes in the following year.

After going 3-7 in his last 10 Octagon outings, which included a defeat to Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 23 earlier this year, Perry’s contract in the promotion came to an end, and “Platinum” has chosen to venture onto a new path for the time being. As the likes of Artem Lobov, Thiago Alves, and Paige VanZant did before him, Perry has found a new home with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

Perry Is Open To Another UFC Chapter

Whilst his new journey is just beginning, Perry has admitted that he’s not leaving MMA and the UFC completely behind him. During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, the 30-year-old suggested he could make a return to the cage further into his career. However, he’s looking to drop the grappling and focus solely on his hands for his immediate future.

“I think I could go back (to MMA). I can still grapple a little bit, because I use it when I punch, and it works against really good grapplers, punching works. And vice versa, grappling really works against really good punchers. It’s just, I want to let it go. So if I know that punching is all we’re doing, I feel like I could do better at that. I don’t know,” Perry said.

Despite foreseeing a potential second stint in the UFC at some point, Perry maintained that his primary goal is to become a BKFC champion.

“Sure, yeah (I could return to the UFC). Now it’s like, I’ve got these people’s money behind me right, because they signed me. They saw we’re all going to put out. So, I’m going to be this champion over here.”

“Platinum” Mike Perry has found a new home with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

As initially reported by MMA Fighting, the five-year UFC vet will look to resume a boxing career that came to a halt in 2015. This time, Perry will be ditching the gloves and throwing bare knuckles at his opponents for multiple fights to come. Perry’s addition to the BKFC roster was announced in a Tuesday press release, where Platinum Mike added some of his unique color to the big news.

“Let’s skip all the formalities! This sport is evolving and I am here to strike fear into the hearts of my competitors!” Perry said in the press release. “I plan to intimidate the world when I show what a truly skilled combat specialist is capable of with his bare hands.

“I will dismantle the opposition and reach the glory I have longed for my entire life. I will be crowned king of the streets and king of combat sports! They will make me a Platinum Crown and carry me on the bloody backs of my defeated rivals! I am here to go straight to the top and make anyone think twice about entering my world! BKFC is my world!”

Perry will be following in the footsteps of other ex-UFC fighters to join the BKFC ranks, such as Artem Lobov and Paige VanZant. As was the case with those big signings, BKFC President Dave Feldman is over the new moon with this new signing.

“We’re thrilled to bring Mike aboard to our vast stable of exciting fighters,” BKFC President Dave Feldman said. “Over the last seven years he’s proven to be one of the toughest fighters in mixed martial arts and his skill set along with his aggressive style works very well for our growing international fan base.”

Mike Perry’s UFC run comes to a close with a promotional record of 7-8. Most recently, Perry suffered back-to-back losses to Daniel Rodriguez and Tim Means. There is no word yet on when Perry’s BKFC debut will take place or who the opponent will be.

Longtime UFC standout Mike Perry has been known to ‘toe the line’ when it comes to how he acts in the public eye, but he still has a dedicated fanbase that has supported him through thick and thin. This was further evidenced when Perry held a video chat event with fans, and one fan of ‘Platinum’ went as far as gifting him $10,000 just to have a conversation.

Perry has been relatively quiet since his last UFC outing when he lost to Daniel Rodriguez by unanimous decision at UFC on ABC 2. Perry has lost four of his last five fights and his UFC future remains uncertain.

But don’t tell that to one anonymous fan who displayed his dedication to Perry’s efforts full-throttle.

“You can say what you want but I’m trying to give people the chance to connect with me, the ones who will pay aren’t the jerks that comment,” Perry tweeted recently. “You guys are the weirdos. Someone recently gave me 10k to talk to me so the only broke ones are the haters. I’d pay to talk too.”

An ‘Ask Me Anything’ type of event held by UFC fighter Mike Perry resulted in one fan gifting him $10,000 to video chat with the MMA brawler

Fans in the replies were in awe by Perry’s comments that one fan paid ten grand just to have a conversation.

Perry has hinted at a potential transition to boxing to fight Jake Paul or another rising talent, but he hasn’t completely eliminated the possibility of making another run in MMA and the UFC. For now, it’s unclear what Perry’s future holds and the UFC brass has been coy about whether or not they’d be willing to re-sign him.

Perry has had a controversy-filled run in MMA, but he remains a fighter through it all and is respected by many fans. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up next.

What is your reaction to Mike Perry’s story? Do you think he’ll fight again in the UFC?

Mike Perry is trying to bond with his fans, sort of.

There are some fighters who try to make money on the side. Some coach, some sell merchandise, but Mike Perry wants to make talking to fans his side hustle. Perry and his girlfriend are beginning a Cameo business where they will be charging fans to chat. Perry announced this on Thursday on his Twitter page.

As stated in the post, “Platinum” is setting up 1-on-1 calls with fans via Cameo. He is charging $50 for two minutes of talking. At the end of the call, they can snap a picture of Perry. This idea may seem strange to some, but Perry explained that he is trying to connect with fans in this way.

“You can say what you want but I’m trying to give people the chance to connect with me, the ones who will pay aren’t the jerks that comment,” He wrote. “You guys are the weirdos. Someone recently gave me 10k to talk to me so the only broke ones are the haters lol. I’d pay to talk to.”

Perry is 3-7 in his last 10 outings in the UFC. Currently, Perry is without a scheduled fight. He has been called out recently by Kevin Lee but declined. He has been in trouble with the law several times over the last few years, and his standing with the UFC has been in jeopardy. Some have even called for him to be released.

Perhaps in these fan chats, he could announce his plans for the future and if he is expecting to be back in the UFC Octagon any time soon.

Would you pay $50 to chat with Mike Perry for two minutes?

Sean O’Malley was seriously impressed by Nick Diaz’s performance at UFC 266 and is already looking forward to seeing the former Strikeforce champion back in action.

Diaz returned from a six-year layoff to rematch Robbie Lawler this past weekend. The welterweight duo first squared off all the way back at UFC 47 in 2004. On that occasion Diaz emerged with the win, 17 years later ‘Ruthless’ got his revenge at UFC 266.

The fight delivered big time with both men going back and forth for three rounds before Diaz dropped to his knees and refused to get back to his feet forcing Herb Dean to wave off the bout.

O’Malley recapped the fight on the TimboSugarShow podcast, he said.

“That was one the sickest fights ever. Just two f***ing dogs… There’s just not a lot of guys that bring that f***ing level of hype dude.”

‘Suga’ went on to consider who might be next for Diaz. The bantamweight prospect first named Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal as potential opponents before talking up a fight between Diaz and Mike Perry.

“Kamaru (Usman)? Nick versus even Jorge (Masvidal)? Oh, Nick vs. Mike Perry could be sick,” O’Malley said. “Nick might dog him. Just outbox him. That’d be sick, Nick (vs.) Perry would be sick.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

‘Platinum’ was once an exciting prospect himself but has fallen off in recent years. The 30-year-old has lost four of his last five UFC fights and appears to be on the brink of being cut by the promotion, not that he’d mind. Perry has been open about his desire to pursue lucrative opportunities in boxing.

Diaz hasn’t recorded a win inside the Octagon since beating BJ Penn over three rounds more than a decade ago. Prior to UFC 266, he had taken a long time away from the sport after suffering a unanimous decision defeat against Anderson Silva in 2015. The result was later overturned to a no-contest after ‘The Spider’ failed his post-fight drug test.

Do you share Sean O’Malley’s excitement about a potential fight between Nick Diaz and Mike Perry?

Mike Perry and Darren Till have had a rocky relationship, to say the least.

When ‘The Gorilla’ suffered his fourth loss in five fights at UFC Vegas 36 this past weekend many people piled on, and you’d expect Perry might’ve been one of those people.

However, ‘Platinum’ took to social media on Sunday to offer some words of encouragement to his long-time rival.

“Rough game bloke,” Perry wrote on Instagram alongside a video of Till hitting pads. “At least you have business! We gotta get more mat time. Striking and Jui jitsu! It’s all apart of the journey @darrentill2! You made it to the top. The life of a true martial artist is about the whole story, not just his best days.”

‘Platinum’ knows what it’s like to be on a rough patch inside the Octagon. The 29-year-old has lost four of his last five fights. This has brought his career record to 7-8 with the UFC.

Perry has recently been talking up a potential move to boxing. The welterweight knockout artist has one eye on fights with Tommy Fury and J’Leon Love as his current UFC contract is about to come to an end.

Are you surprised Mike Perry had kind words for Darren Till after UFC Vegas 36?
