Mike Perry could be back in action very soon.
As per multiple reports, Perry is set to face Daniel Rodriguez in a welterweight bout. It is expected to take place at the UFC’s upcoming April 10 event.
No location or venue has been confirmed for the event as of yet, but it’s likely to take place in either Las Vegas or Yas Island.
Despite only teasing a move to middleweight on Monday, Perry looks set to continue at 170 pounds as he will look to return to the win column against Rodriguez. “Platinum” last competed in November last year when he was outpointed by Tim Means.
Before that, he had snapped a two-fight losing streak by outpointing Mickey Gall in June last year.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, will also be looking to return to the win column. The 34-year-old suffered his first defeat in the UFC after getting outpointed by Nicolas Dalby in November. Before that, he enjoyed a three-fight winning streak with wins over Means, Gabriel Green and Dwight Grant.
The April 10 card will be headlined by a pivotal ranked middleweight encounter between Darren Till and Marvin Vettori. If confirmed, tt should certainly be interesting to see how Perry interacts with rival Till leading up to the event.
What do you make of this fight? Do you think Perry will return to the win column?

The strange saga between Darren Till and Mike Perry continues to play out, with Till inviting Perry to train with him at his gym.
The UFC welterweights – who appear to shift between being best friends and mortals enemies – have been going back and forth for some time. Their relationship appears to have begun when Perry unsuccessfully attempted to auction off a spot in his corner at UFC 255, to which Till placed a $5000 bid. Perry took it as a troll-job from Till, who insisted his intentions were entirely sincere. The two have been trading barbs over social media ever since, culminating with a conversation over Instagram Live this past weekend.
With Perry on a 3-6 stretch and coming off a loss to Tim Means, Till invited ‘Platinum’ to come train with him in Liverpool to help right the ship. ‘The Gorilla’ insisted that Perry’s run of bad luck has been brought on by his training regime, which includes no sparring and having his girlfriend act as his sole cornerman. When Perry mentioned training with Colby Covington, Till offered up his own idea (H/T MMA Island).
“I got a team now.” Perry said. “I haven’t gotten to train with [Covington] yet, but he’s over there at MMA Masters. He did 5 rounds with the champ who won last night. I’m looking to get some rounds with him.”
“Get yourself out to Liverpool and train with me,” Till replied. “… I want to see you get three wins in the welterweight division. That’s what I wanna see… I don’t think you took the last fight as serious. You are better than Tim [Means], but train harder, I don’t know.”
While Perry initially seemed skeptical about the idea as it would mean being away from his family, it appears Till eventually found a way to persuade him.
“Once you land in the airport, I’m going to punch the head off you mate and then I’ll shake your hand.” Till joked.
“We can fight about it every day, huh?” Perry said. “I don’t know, I got to bring my girl to England. I like America though. I don’t want to stay away from my family. I can bring them with me though, I can bring them to England… Why don’t you come to Miami? It’s nicer here, it’s warm.”
“Perry, listen brother,” Till answered, “I love you but when you decide you want to get a big f—ing naughty left hand off me, come to Liverpool you fat c–t.”
With that, Till left on a high-note and signed off the livestream. Perry didn’t provide an answer about his training future, but it looks as though he has a number of options on the table.

UFC Welterweight contender Mike Perry has been caught using the N-word several times in the past, however on Monday he apologized for his actions and vowed to never use it again.
“I know some won’t care but some might appreciate this,” Perry wrote on Twitter. “This is for my son and me as a son to be different than my father. Also black history month, I would like to apologize for any time I ever said n***a , [sic] plain and simple you won’t hear it from me anymore.”
Mike Perry has used the racial slur several times in the past and even used it in a social media altercation with American actor Michael Jai White. He justified his actions at the time by saying “You have to make a big deal out of this. A white man said that to you because you straight up being one. Y’all can’t act like you don’t hear me. It was bull shit he was trying to slander a real gangsta so people would think he more than an actor.”
Perry recently announced the birth of his son, Ocean, on January 6 with girlfriend Latory Gonzalez. “Platinum” is 1-3 in his last 4 fights inside the octagon, with his most recent outing being a unanimous decision lost to Tim Means at UFC 255.

UFC welterweight striker, ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry and his partner, Latory Gonzalez have today welcomed the birth of there first child, a baby boy.
Announcing the new on his official Twitter account, Michigan native, Perry becomes a father for the first time. Offering his thanks to nurses at the Holtz Children’s Hosptial in Miami, Florida, Perry noted how the newborn gave them a brief moment of worry as he “didn’t want to take his first breath” before thanking God for the arrival.
“Thank you so much to all the ladies who helped at Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami (,Florida) the boy gave us a scare when he came out and didn’t want to take his first breath but thank God for our son!“
Among those to congratulate Perry was his most recent opponent, longtime contender, Tim ‘The Dirty Bird’ Means. Featuring at UFC 255 in November, the 29-year-old dropped a unanimous decision defeat to Means, infamously making the Octagon walk echoed by Beyoncé’s single, ‘Halo’. The defeat marked Perry’s first of the year, going 1-1 in 2020 overall following a unanimous judging win of his own over grappler, Mickey Gall at UFC Vegas 4 in June.
As for new mother, Gonzalez, she rose to prominance earlier this year as she featured as the sole cornerperson for Perry in his unanimous decision win over the aforenoted Gall in the summer at the UFC Apex facility event, as well as her partner’s loss to Means.
Whilst Perry has yet to be matched for his next Octagon outing, he called for a ‘Christmas wish’ matchup with fan-favourite Ultimate Fighter victor, Nate Diaz in his next bout.

UFC welterweight Mike Perry has posted a bizarre of himself bleeding next to shattered glass door. The video can be seen below.
After posting the video to his social media, Perry took to Twitter to write a disturbing tweet.
Perry even had a number of tweets the previous day warning fans not to approach him and to stay away from him.
Mike Perry said on Twitter “I’m not free, I don’t have time, I don’t wanna talk , don’t care what you have to say, I’m not taking a picture, don’t ask how I’m doing, please leave me alone unless you want to give me money then just give it to me and then you can ask your question.”
He continues “I don’t care, the fans suck, people suck , they crowd your space , they talk trash behind your back, they offer nothing but a waste of time, I like to be left alone with my little family and that’s all I want. I’m just tweeting these to tell y’all to mind your manners.”
He goes on to say “You’re all rude af, and I’m just the messenger. You think you deserve something for watching fights or you think you know how a fighter should act when you never stepped in the ring. Just remember none of you would talk that shit man to man. Your place is on Twitter #RealWorld ”
Fans online are concerned about Mike Perry and his mental health. The UFC have not commented on this bizarre situation and it is unclear what they will do with ‘Platinum’ who is coming off a loss against Tim Means at UFC 255.
