Mike Perry has finally revealed who will be in his corner when he fights Tim Means at UFC 255 on Saturday (November 21).

Perry, who was originally set to face Robbie Lawler at UFC 255 shocked the world in October when he claimed to be auctioning off a place in his corner team for his fight on November 21. Middleweight contender Darren Till offered $5000 to join Perry’s corner and even started a GoFundMe to help raise funds.

‘Platinum’ hasn’t been seen in action since he beat Mikey Gall by unanimous decision, snapping a two-fight losing streak at UFC Vegas 4 back in June. For the fight, Perry took the unusual step of opting against having a traditional corner team and instead relying on his girlfriend to give him advice between rounds. He seemed willing to go one step further by inviting a paying stranger to help him out on one of the biggest cards of 2020 before UFC boss Dana White shut down the idea.

ESPN reporter Ariel Helwani reported yesterday that Perry’s pregnant girlfriend and a long-time pal of ‘Platinum’ would make up the fighters corner team at UFC 255.

“Mike Perry returns this weekend,” Helwani wrote on social media. “His corner, per his manager Abraham Kawa, will be his (pregnant) girlfriend and a long-time friend of his who isn’t a fighter. Darren Till did not make the cut.”

Perry later confirmed he does have a third person helping him prepare for his fight against Means. Unfortunately the unknown person is not allowed into the arena during the event.

“My third is not allowed, he is coming to help with preparation but will not be allowed to enter the apex,” Perry wrote on Twitter.

UFC welterweight and fan favourite Mike Perry says he still has a lot of work to do ahead of his UFC 255 fight, which is only 10 days away.

Perry took to Twitter to let his fans know that he still has 25 pounds to cut ahead of his highly anticipated return to the octagon at UFC 255.

The fight will be Perry’s first since June 27, when he took home a decision victory over Mickey Gall. His road back to the octagon has been a tumultuous one at best. First, Perry was involved in an altercation with an elderly man at a bar, which led to him not being offered a fight until he completed a treatment program. Then, his ex-wife, Danielle Nickerson, made claims that Perry had threatened her life and it was discovered she had filed for a restraining order in February.

Afterwards, Perry announced that he would be holding an auction for a place in his corner for the fight. After a number of fighters and high-profile fans showed interest, UFC president Dana White eventually shut the idea down. Lastly, his original opponent, former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, withdrew from the bout. There was no shortage of fighters willing to step up on short notice to face Perry, but UFC veteran Tim Means eventually won the coveted spot.

Perry has had the reputation to jokingly play with his fans, so it is unclear how seriously the Tweet should be taken. His style makes exciting fights every time out, so most UFC fans will probably have their fingers crossed that this is just another one of his pranks and he’ll make it to the octagon without problem. If he is telling the truth, then it looks like this will just be another bump in the road on his path to redemption.

Do you think Mike Perry is telling the truth about his weight? Will he be able to make it by UFC 255? Let us know!

‘Platinum’ Mike Perry has let rip at his long-time rival Darren Till who has been forced to withdraw from his December 5 fight with Jack Hermansson due to injury.

Brett Okamoto announced the news via social media last night. The ESPN reporter also revealed surging middleweight contender Kevin Holland would fill in for Till next month.

“Breaking: Injury has forced Darren Till out of his UFC Fight Night main event against Jack Hermansson on Dec. 5 in Las Vegas. Kevin Holland steps in as a replacement,” Okamoto wrote on social media. “Hermansson’s reps say they sought a ranked replacement, but several of them turned it down and Hermansson was determined to get one more fight in before end of the year. Holland looking to become the first middleweight in UFC history with five wins in a single calendar year.”

Till took to social media to confirm the news and wish both men the best for their upcoming fight. The Englishman gave a special mention to Holland who is looking to secure his fifth UFC win of the calendar year.

“Good luck to both guys,” Till wrote. “I’ll be back next year. I hope Kevin gets to showcase himself against one of the top guys of the division… he’s as game as they come !”

Perry was not impressed by Till who has built the RawDog brand off the back of the pairs trash talk. The welterweight puncher who is set to face Tim Means at UFC 255 attacked ‘The Gorilla’ via social media, he wrote.

“So @darrentill2 pussied out too. Smh everybody seems to have a sore coochie. Been shoving them rawdog beers directly up your ass for an instant effect like@steveo got ya walking funny? Had to pull out ? A real rawdogger don’t pull out pussy !”

Mike Perry will still be competing at the UFC 255 pay-per-view event.

Perry was initially scheduled to face former champion Robbie Lawler in a welterweight bout at the event taking place which takes November 21 in Las Vegas.

However, Lawler had to pull out due to injury leaving Perry opponentless. He had called to face Khamzat Chimaev in a middleweight bout soon after but that was always unlikely with “The Wolf” set to take on Leon Edwards next.

Instead, Perry will now meet veteran Tim Means who will reportedly step in on short notice to face him at UFC 255.

“Mike Perry vs. Tim Means booked for UFC 255 on Nov. 21, sources say. Means replaces Robbie Lawler, who withdrew last week.”

Means last competed in August when he outpointed Laureano Staropoli. The 36-year-old has alternated between wins and losses in his last five outings and will be looking to go on a winning streak for the first time since 2016.

Perry, meanwhile, last competed in June when he defeated Mickey Gall in a dominant unanimous decision victory. That victory snapped a two-fight losing streak for “Platinum” who looks to get his career on track and enter the rankings soon.

UFC 255 will be headlined by a flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Alex Perez. Valentina Shevchenko will defend her women’s flyweight title against Jennifer Maia in the co-main event.
