Popular welterweight Mike Perry has called for a fight against Nate Diaz. ‘Platinum’ is fresh of a big win over Mickey Gall at UFC on ESPN 12 this past weekend. Perry dominated the majority of the fight against Gall with his heavy hands and surprisingly impressive wrestling. He won the fight by unanimous decision on the judge’s scorecards.
Speaking to ESPN this week Perry made a shock call-out of Diaz who he believes is “skinny” and “weak”.
“I think he’s a skinny, weak little f**k like Mickey Gall,” Perry said. “I mean, I respect what he’s done in the sport. He plays the guard game in jiu-jitsu, he thinks he can box with that little weak-ass punches he’s got, little salt and pepper punchesHe doesn’t stand a chance to hit me hard enough. I’d hit him on the feet the same way Jorge Masvidal did, I’d play his guard. I’d get half guard, sit on top of him, it’d look exactly the same as the Mickey Gall fight did, to be honest with you.
Perry acknowledges Diaz would be a much tougher fight than Gall and he respects everything his potential opponent has achieved. Nonetheless he thinks the outcome would ultimately be similar to what we saw at UFC Vegas 4, he said.
“So, if you guys like that fight, then yeah, you’ll probably like the Nate Diaz fight too. He’s a little more durable, he’ll probably try to stand there and box back with me. But my power punches, just, I’ll sit him down. Everybody knows he’s durable. So, I’ll bust that eye open again. What can I say? That’s not hate, I’m not hating on Nate Diaz. He’s done things in the sport, he’s made money. Good for him, dude. I’ve always thought I’d beat that guy and it’s as simple as that. We’re talking about one on one, in the ring, fighting. And I win.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)
Diaz hasn’t fought since falling short against Jorge Masvidal for the inaugural BMF title at UFC 244. The TUF winner was stopped at the end of the third rounds due to cuts. He has been campaigning for a rematch ever since.

Whittaker: Perry Could Have Success Moving Up
Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker believes Mike Perry can be successful at 185 pounds.
Perry returned to the win column at UFC Vegas 4 this past weekend with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Mickey Gall in the co-main event. Afterwards, he spoke of moving up to middleweight to settle his ongoing beef with Darren Till.
Till, however, faces Whittaker next when they collide on July 25 in Abu Dhabi’s Fight Island. Till recently moved up to middleweight last year while Whittaker is also an example of a welterweight who moved up and actually became champion at 185 pounds.
And “The Reaper” believes Perry has all the tools to succeed at a higher weight class.
“Definitely he can find success. He’s a tough guy, man,” Whittaker told Submission Radio. “Every time I watch him, he surprises me, honestly. Because even that last fight, he wasn’t faster than Mickey Gall, but he looked like he just like… everything Mickey Gall threw at Mike, Mike just could handle it. He’d sprawl out of the shots, he’d counter with his own shots, when he got on top, he did damage. And he must hit hard. I assume that’s his ace, because there’s gotta be a reason why – well, given that he’s tough as nails, but he must hit bloody hard.
“I’m trying to crack the enigma of why Mike Perry is as successful as he is. But yeah, I definitely think just with him being tough and hitting hard and having that decent well-rounded skillset, like, I’m sure he could have success moving up.”
As for Perry’s controversial decision to have his girlfriend be his sole cornerman for the fight against Gall, Whittaker has no problem with it even though he did find it to be weird.
After all, if “Platinum” is happy with it, there is no reason to change things up.
“Nah, nah, even she thought it was a little weird (laughs),” Whittaker replied when asked if his wife will now corner him for his fight with Till. “Do your thing. If he likes it and he’s happy with it, why not. This is his ride and his journey, he can do it the way that he wants to. Why not.”

Mickey Gall is holding his head up high following his latest setback.
Gall met Mike Perry in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 4 last night in a highly-intriguing welterweight bout, especially with the latter only having his girlfriend in his corner.
In the end, it didn’t seem to affect proceedings much as although Gall had some promising moments on the feet, he was ultimately outclassed by Perry in every facet of mixed martial arts who even dropped him in the second round en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Gall Says He Will ‘Grow’ From ‘This Little Loss’
It meant Gall once again alternated between wins and losses as he has done so since 2017.
However, he is only taking this loss as a learning experience as he plans on getting right back in the thick of things in August which is when he wants to compete next.
Here’s what he had to say after the fight on Instagram:
“Lost a decision. Fun fight for me. Much love everybody. I appreciate you guys. No excuses. I know who I am I’m holding my head high. I’ll be back in the octagon soon & better than ever. Gonna grow from this little loss. No where in the world would I have rather been tonight. Believe that. See you soon. I’m still full of love and gratitude Thanks for the love always (*when the @ufc gets back from fight island to America)”
Gall became famous in the MMA world for being CM Punk’s first UFC opponent as he submitted the former WWE champion with ease when they met in 2016.
However, Gall has gone 3-3 since with his last win coming in August last year when he outpointed Salim Touahri.
