Mike Tyson is speaking out about punching a man on an airplane.

In April, footage was released showing boxing Hall of Famer Mike Tyson involved in an altercation on an airplane. In multiple videos taken by other passengers on a Jet Blue flight, Tyson was seen being harassed by a passenger, a 36-year-old man maned Melvin Townsend III. Tyson then turned around and began hitting the man several times while the rest of the plane looked on.

Following the incident, both passengers were detained by law enforcement, but Tyson did not face any criminal charges.

He has not opened up about this incident publically until now.

“I’m usually good at these things,” he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live via MMA Fighting. “I guess it was just his number. But I was wrong. That never should’ve happened, that’s me back at my primitive child stages. I shouldn’t have done that, but I was irritated, tired, high, pissed off, yeah. S*** happens. I don’t want to hurt nobody.”

Tyson has been in trouble with the law several times over the course of his life. However, due to the nature of this assault, Tyson seems to have come off as the good guy. Many fans and other celebrities expressed their sympathy for the former champ.

After a long and successful career as arguably the best boxer of all time, Tyson is retired from the sport. He did return for a one-off fight against Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

Julius Francis, a former heavyweight boxer who once faced Mike Tyson, put an abrupt halt to an altercation outside of a London park.

Francis works as a security guard and was assigned outside of BOXPARK, near the famous Wembley Stadium. A group of men got into a squabble with security outside of the venue, but Francis wasn’t initially involved.

As one of the troublemakers backed off, he aggressively confronted Francis, which resulted in the boxer throwing a clean hook and putting the man to sleep.

Watch the incident involving Francis below.

The clip went viral on social media, with some users being critical and others being supportive of Francis’ decision to throw the punch.

As of right now, there’s no update on the unidentified punch victim and it’s unclear if he’ll face legal action for the altercation with Francis and the other security personnel.

The 57-year-old Francis retired from professional boxing following a 2006 loss to Scott Lansdowne. He left the ring with a 23-24-1 record, with matchups against Tyson and Vitali Klitschko during his tenure.

Francis won the BBBofC and Commonwealth (British Empire) heavyweight titles during his career.

One boxer actually attempted to recreate the Mike Tyson ear-biting incident inside the ring recently.

Rising super-middleweight star Edgar Berlanga took on opponent Roamer Angulo this past weekend. When the pair clinched up in the seventh round, Berlanga appeared to actually bite into Angulo, similar to how Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield.

For those of you unaware, Tyson bit Holyfield’s ear off during their 1997 rematch, which got Tyson disqualified from the contest.

Of course, Berlanga’s bite was nowhere close to as damaging as Tyson’s, as Berlanga’s actions went unpunished, and the fight continued. Berlanga went on to win the fight via unanimous decision, improving his unblemished record to 20-0.

Speaking after the fight, courtesy of Mirror UK, Berlanga explained why he attempted to bite into Angulo during the fight.

“He kept throwing elbows and, you know, head-butted me and stuff. So, I was telling him like, ‘Yo, chill!’ You know, like I didn’t wanna get cut or anything. But I don’t know – I just got aggressive in there, Mike Tyson style. You know? I got a little carried away.”

However, Berlanga later took to Twitter to issue an official apology for his actions, saying he feels “embarrassed” by his actions.

“I want to apologise for my actions and what I said yesterday about the Mike Tyson bite. I was in the moment and got a little ahead of myself. It doesn’t take away from the embarrassment that I have caused upon myself, my team, top ranks, and many others.

“I reacted poorly and take full responsibility. Moving forward, I am going to be more mindful and encouraging in my behaviour. Once again, I do apologise.”

Veteran kickboxer and professional mixed martial artist, Bob Sapp has called for a fight against former professional boxing world champion, Mike Tyson – claiming he will “rip” the New York native’s heart out, as he appears as jacked as ever in a recent video posted on his social media.

Sapp, a native of Colorado, was breifly linked with an exhibition matchup against Tyson back in 2020 after years of speculation, however, the matchup once again failed to materialize, with Tyson instead fighting his fellow former world champion, Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout.

In his most recent professional kickboxing appearance, Sapp, suffered a 58-second first round knockout loss against Selcuk Ustabasi back in January 2018.

Bob Sapp issues a bizarre call out aimed in the direction of Mike Tyson

Featuring most recently at Rizin 13 in his last professional mixed martial arts bout to date in September of that year, Sapp scored his first victory in eight years, snapping a 14-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision win against Osunaarashi.

“Mike (Tyson), now we all know what happened when you and I talked about the fight,” Bob Sapp said in a promotional video calling out Tyson. “I sent you a photo along with this sentence: ‘Mike, if you fight me I will rip your heart out and tear it to shreds.’ And it still applies.”

“As for you, Mike – I got a challenge for you,” Bob Sapp explained. “Since you stopped running, listen to me for a second. You and me and two of my best fighters vs. two of your best fighters. Stand up, Marquess of Queensbury Rules. Because you’re too scared to fight one on one. I’ll take all of you on, punk boxers. I like little Michael, I like little Michael. That’s my challenge, you know my age. Fight me, or my crew.” (Transcribed by MMA Mania)

Mike Tyson has reacted to fans being upset about him hosting Alex Jones on his podcast.

Tyson hosted Jones on a recent episode of his “Hot Boxin” podcast. However, the show was ultimately censored due to Jones’ appearance on the program.

For those of you unfamiliar, Jones is a right-leaning talk show host who has been banned from most social platforms — such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and more — due to his controversial takes. Some have even dubbed Jones a conspiracy theorist. Jones is currently being sued by families of Sandy Hook victims for saying the 2012 Newton school shooting was a hoax.

Tyson received some backlash for having Jones on in the first place. He responded to those fans with the following statement.

“Communists man. If he is bad then we all don’t like him and if you like him you’re bad too. That’s communism.”

Tyson’s podcast has featured several high-profile names; such as Joe Rogan, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dana White, Tyson Fury, and so many more.

Aside from the podcasting world, Tyson seems interested in getting back into the ring again. He’s been linked to rumors of a potential clash with Jake Paul.

Tyson has said on numerous occasions that he’d like to box the YouTube star, with Paul echoing those desires.

Of course, nothing has been made official just yet, with Paul teasing the announcement of his next opponent soon.

American-born rapper, Fat Joe recently recalled how former professional boxing champion, Mike Tyson came to his and the late, Big Pun’s rescue outside a nightclub soon after his release from prison – with Tyson chasing away six security guards before an altercation involving the hip-hop stars broke out.

Speaking candidly, Fat Joe revealed that himself and fellow rapper, Big Pun were almost involved in a physical altercation outside a nightclub – with six bouncers and security guards ordering a search on the latter.

“There was one night we was at The Tunnel,” Fat Joe said. “Me and Big Pun, rest in peace. And the security is telling him to take off his boots, they wanted to seach under his boots. He’s a big guy, he didn’t want to. So they start arguing. ‘F*ck you, your mother’ This, that, going back and forth. Then it starts turning into two, three, four, five, six (bouncers) and they all just start saying, ‘Let’s beat up Big Pun and Fat Joe, I don’t care.’”

To the rescue, however, came former heavyweight boxing champion, Tyson – with the then-29-year-old offering to beat up the security guards and bouncers – having recently been released from prison.

“So I’m telling Pun like, ‘Yo, Pun, we about to get knocked out.’” Fat Joe said. “So out of nowhere, we hear this voice, ‘Yo, Pun, Yo, Joe, let’s F these dudes up. I got your back.”

“We turn around and it’s ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson,” Fat Joe said. “2:30 in the morning, fresh out of jail with the kufi on. So now he starts and everyone is looking like, ‘Oh my God, this is Iron Mike.’” MIke Tyson started chasing the bouncers that wanted to beat us up around the like 20 times and the bouncers are like, ‘Yo Fat Joe, Big Pun – please.’” (Transcribed by TalkSport)

Mike Tyson would win the WBA and WBC heavyweight crowns in his return to boxing in 1995

Following his 1995 release from prison, Tyson would land a quartet of consecutive victories, defeating Peter McNeeley, Buster Mathis Jr. and then Frank Bruno, and Bruce Seldon to clinch the WBC and WBA heavyweight titles, respectively.
