Everyone seems to have an opinion on who Conor McGregor should fight in his eagerly anticipated UFC return.

The last time we saw Conor McGregor in the Octagon, he broke his leg towards the end of the first round in his trilogy bout with rival Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. While McGregor has been busy recovering from the injury, he has stayed active on Twitter calling out the cream of UFC’s crop. Originally focusing his attention on Charles Oliveira following his lightweight title win at UFC 262, ‘Notorious’ has now turned his gaze to welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Knowing a thing or two about coming back from a devastating setback, boxing legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson believes McGregor should take a tune-up fight to reacclimate himself to the Octagon.

“I’m a strong believer that after a defeat, you should do a couple of fights to get your feet wet,” Tyson said speaking to Henry Cejudo on The Fight Card podcast. “Conor, I think you should build your confidence up and go do what you do: win excitingly,”

Tyson even believes that aiming for a return fight with Tony Ferguson may be a mistake for the former champ-champ.

“That’s a tough fight, man,” Tyson said. “He’s (Ferguson) a warrior, regardless if he loses. He makes exciting fights. It’s hard to beat that guy. I want no big-time guy, let him get three fights and build his confidence back up. Every fight the opponent goes to a higher level.”

While one can understand Tyson’s logic, one former UFC champion does not agree with that return strategy.

Michael Bisping Believes Conor McGregor Should Shoot For The Stars

Michael Bisping recently posted a video on his YouTube channel responding to Tyson’s comments that McGregor should play it safe upon returning.

“I understand what Mike [Tyson] is talking about there,” Bisping said. “However, the circumstances with McGregor right now – it’s a risky one. If he goes into a tune-up fight there’s no gimmes, there’s no guarantees in the fight game and if he loses to them, then it’s even worse if he was to go in let’s say against the champ, Charles Oliveira.

Bisping certainly makes a valid point. Nowadays in the fight game, the trajectory of careers has changed. What used to be about fighting your way to the top and staying there, has turned into a cash grab game of getting in and getting out with as much money as possible, win or lose. If McGregor takes a lower-level opponent, not only does he make less money, but he could do irreparable damage to his drawing power.

“If he loses to someone ranked down the pecking order, ranked five, six, seven, something like that, now it’s a very different conversation that’s taking place,” said Bisping “I think Conor should go for the biggest fight possible, in my humble opinion because we don’t know how many he’s got left.”

Going back to 2016, McGregor is 3-4 in his last seven bouts. After winning back-to-back bouts against Nate Diaz and Eddie Alvarez, McGregor dipped his toe into the boxing pool facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. After losing in his boxing debut, McGregor turned to the Octagon to face then lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor lost the bout via rear-naked choke submission but bounced back with a first-round knockout against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246. Since then, McGregor has dropped his last two against rival Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 and UFC 264.

Do you think Mike Tyson’s advice is the right way to go or do you believe McGregor should shoot for the stars as Michael Bisping suggests?

Boxing legend Mike Tyson thinks UFC superstar Conor McGregor should take his time working back towards a title shot.

McGregor is expected to return to the UFC Octagon later this year against a to-be-determined opponent. Michael Chandler, Charles Oliveira, and Nate Diaz are just a few names that have emerged as potential opponents for his comeback.

McGregor has taken a lengthy hiatus following his nasty leg break in his trilogy with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He’s been on the road to recovery ever since and has recently teased footage of his training.

McGregor has hinted at a title shot for his return, potentially against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. However, Tyson thinks McGregor should slow it down when it comes to his strength of schedule.

“After a defeat, you should do a couple of fights to get your feet wet,” Tyson said during a recent segment of The Fight Card podcast. “Conor, I think you should build your confidence up and go do what you do: win excitingly.” (h/t MMA Junkie)

Tyson went on to respond to the idea of McGregor facing an opponent like Tony Ferguson for his 2022 return.

“Well, that’s a tough fight,” Tyson admitted. “He’s a warrior, regardless if he loses, He makes exciting fights. It’s hard to beat that guy. … No big-time guy, let him get three fights and build his confidence back up. Every fight the opponent goes to a higher level.”

In addition to his UFC pursuits, McGregor has also hinted at a return to boxing in the future. He competed against Floyd Mayweather back in 2017 in the coined ‘money fight’, losing via late-round TKO.

Tyson has some experience rebounding from tough losses. Following his loss to Buster Douglas back in 1990, he went on to win eight in a row and re-claimed the WBA and WBC titles.

As McGregor ponders his next move, he has some decisions to make when it comes to how he intends to rebound from losses in three of his last four fights.

Do you agree with Mike Tyson’s take on what Conor McGregor should do next?

Fresh off his fifth professional victory last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada – undefeated professional boxer, Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of former heavyweight champion, the late, Muhammad Ali was invited to another former boxing great’s pigeon fancying collection; Mike Tyson.

Walsh, who managed to land his fifth consecutive victory with an opening round knockout win over Alejandro Ibarra at the end of April – scored his fourth career knockout triumph to boot.

The win followed prior career victories for Walsh over the quartet of Jeremiah Yeager, Reyes Sanchez, James Westley II, and Jordan Weeks. Walsh made his professional debut back in August of last year.

Nico Ali Walsh meets Mike Tyson following fifth professional win in April

Walsh, the nephew of fellow professional boxer, Laila Ali, and the grandson of the above mentioned, Muhammad Ali was recently invited to the ranch of former heavyweight champion and revered knockout artist, Tyson – who demonstrated to handle and hold pigeons, as well as snatching one from the coop after handing it to Walsh.

“Mike Tyson inviting Muhammad Ali’s grandson Nico Ali Walsh to see his pigeons…” Reporter, Michael Benson tweeted accompanied by the pair’s meeting.

Recently in the news himself, former boxing champion, Mike Tyson was involved in a physical altercation on a flight where he was video punching and striking another male who is alleged to have harassed him before the plane left the runway in San Francisco. Tyson will not face any charges for his part in the physical altercation.

“We have reviewed the police reports of the San Francisco Police Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and have viewed the various videos collected by law enforcement from others on the plane,” The San Mateo County District Attorney, Steven Wagstaffe said in a statement released. “Our decision is that we will not file any charges against Mr. (Mike) Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.”

“These include the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed in this case.’

Jake Paul has boxing heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in his sights.

Paul is currently on the hunt for his next opponent inside the ring, and has several names in mind as a possibility. However, speaking to talkSport, Paul reveals Tyson is at the top of his list.

“I want to challenge myself and increase the level of my opposition and get the biggest name possible because I’m tired of carrying all the pay-per-view promotion myself. It gets annoying. Hopefully we have a dance partner who brings the skills and following to the table.

“Mike Tyson is the biggest name possible. For sure that’s number one on my list. He just called me out on Joe Rogan’s podcast and said ‘let’s do it.’ I think that breaks so many records. It would be fun, it would be legendary and it would be crazy for me to share the ring with such an iconic legend.

“Someone that I look up to. It would be weird fighting him but at the same time, it would be awesome. Yes, there is contact and conversations.”

Tyson certainly could consider the bout. While Paul has been taking professional fights that count towards his record, Tyson hasn’t had a professional fight since 2005 when he retired. He did, however, face Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout back in November of 2020, which was scored as a draw.

Paul has amassed an undefeated record of 5-0 inside the boxing ring. His first two wins came against a YouTuber and a former NBA player. His next three fights came against opponents with combat sports experience, specifically mixed martial arts (MMA).

Ben Askren stepped in to box Paul in April of 2021, but the wrestler was knocked out in the first round. “The Problem Child” followed that up with back-to-back wins over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, the latter of which being a vicious knockout.

Now, Paul looks to step things up in competition with Tyson on his radar, who is widely recognized as one of the best boxers of all time. Tyson recently stated that he would be open to this fight due to the possibility of shattering pay-per-view records.

Do you think a fight between Paul and Tyson will ultimately come together? And who are you picking in the potential bout? Sound off in the comments!

Randy Brown, Mike Tyson

Randy Brown reinforced the idea that words have consequences as he commented on Mike Tyson bloodying a man’s face on an airplane.

In recent times, there have been a string of physical altercations that each took place soon after the previous one. From Colby Covington allegedly getting caught blindsided by Jorge Masvidal outside of a steak restaurant in Miami to Will Smith’s infamous slap heard around the world.

Ahead of his fight with Kalinn Williams on May 7 at UFC 274, Randy Brown spoke to LowKick MMA about his upcoming fight and weighed in on one of the most talked-about news pieces of late.

Speaking about Mike Tyson’s recent violent altercation on an airplane that saw him land a flurry of punches to bloody the man’s face, Randy Brown stated how the internet has twisted the sense of reality and how things don’t work the same in real life as they do on the internet.

“What are people’s thoughts? Should charges be pressed against Mike now? No, I don’t think so,” Brown said. “I think you poke the bear, right? The guy told you to leave him alone and you can’t be playing around, you can’t do that in real life.”

After the incident, reports emerged revealing that the man who provoked Tyson appeared to be extremely intoxicated and had lawyered up due to his past of criminal activities.

Brown stated how the internet has made people comfortable disrespecting others and believing that there will be no consequences in real life for their behavior.

“The internet is the internet for a reason. Real life is real life. You can’t play those games, man,” added Brown. “I’m happy to see that. I like when those things happen because it gives people a chance to really take a step back and see where we are headed, you know what I mean?

“The internet is not real man and we gotta stop thinking because we could do all these things on the internet without consequences, that it carries over in the real life. It doesn’t.”

Randy Brown doesn’t believe that Mike Tyson should face charges

On the night of April 23, Mike Tyson boarded a flight to Florida from San Francisco International Airport around 10.30 PM PT. Sitting just behind Tyson on the flight was an intoxicated man who kept trying to provoke the retired boxing legend. Witness reports state that ‘Iron’ was getting along well with the passenger and his friends before the incident.

Tyson reprimanded the man for his troubling behavior and asked him to ‘chill out’. After multiple warnings had failed, and the man continued to harass the Hall of Famer, Tyson decided to take the matter into his own hands as he settled it with multiple blows to the man’s head.

Along with Randy Brown sharing his support for Tyson, he has also seen backing from a large chunk of the combat sports community given the circumstances. Joe Rogan believed that the man was “headbutting a beehive” and got what he deserved.

Later reports revealed the man to have a long rap sheet with criminal convictions going back to 2008, according to the state records. He had also served two terms in prison prior to the incident and has supposedly lawyered up for any repercussions following the event.

Do you agree with Randy Brown’s take on Mike Tyson’s incident? Should he be charged?

Heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson is open to a fight with Jake Paul for a potential return to the ring.

Tyson made his return to the ring against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition in 2020, with the fight ending up in a draw. The former heavyweight champion looked in great shape despite being in his ’50s and having not competed since his retirement fight against Kevin McBride in 2005.

Tyson shared a card with Paul during his fight against Jones Jr., as Paul defeated former NBA star Nate Robinson in the co-main event. Tyson seemed intent on returning to fighting following the event, but nothing has been formally in the works or has materialized.

During a recent episode of his Hotboxin with Mike Tyson podcast, Tyson expressed his interest in a fight with Paul.

“Hell yeah [I’d do it], only to break the record,” Tyson said.

“Let’s do it Jakey, God wouldn’t that be cool? Jake Paul believe it or not is more profitable than the champs, this guy probably brings about 80 million people to the table.” (h/t New York Post)

The record that Tyson is referring to is the boxing pay-per-view record, which was set by Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s 2015 fight that sold 4.6 million buys. Mayweather would defeat Pacquiao via decision.

Since Tyson’s last fight, Paul’s stock in boxing has skyrocketed after knockout wins over former UFC fighters Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley. He is targeting a return to the ring as soon as this summer.

Paul recently announced his “hit list” of potential opponents for his return, and Tyson wasn’t included. However, that doesn’t mean that a big money fight between the boxing legend and the YouTuber turned boxer can’t come to fruition.
