Sonnen made sure to throw some verbal jabs at rival Wanderlei Silva along with the main event announcement.
UFC on Fox Sports 1: Shogun vs. Sonnen is expected to take place on Aug. 17 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The promotion was looking to book the two for June 15 in Winnipeg after Rua’s original opponent, Antônio Rogério Nogueira, withdrew due to a back injury. The UFC was unable to book the bout so the two light heavyweights will now meet in Boston on the soon to be launched Fox Sports 1 television channel.

Former WEC champ and UFC bantamweight contender, Uriah ‘The California Kid’ Faber (28-6), is reportedly set to square off with Yuri ‘Marajó’ Alcantara (28-4, 1NC) this August in Boston as part of the upcoming UFC on Fox Sports 1: 1 event.
The news was first announced by Las Vegas Sun on Twitter and was later confirmed by MMAFighting.com.
UFC on Fox Sports 1: 1 is expected to take place on August 17, 2013 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The bout between Faber and Alcantara should appear on the Fox Sports 1 broadcasted main card.
Faber is looking to climb back into a No. 1 contender spot with two bantamweight title match defeats in his last five bouts. Currently ‘The California Kid’ has won two straight with submission victories against Scott Jorgensen at the TUF 17 Finale, and over Ivan Menjivar at UFC 157. Faber’s last loss was versus Renan Barao for the UFC interim bantamweight title at UFC 149.
Alcantara is 1-1 (1NC) in his last three trips to the Octagon having picked up a first round knockout win against Iliarde Santos last month at UFC on FX 8. The “No Contest” took place in January versus Pedro Nobre at UFC on FX 7 after landing several punches to the back of his opponents head. The defeat took place in June 2012 at UFC 147 losing by decision to Hacran Dias.
