New matchups keep rolling in as a welterweight bout between Brazilian fighter Ildemar ‘Marajo’ Alcantara (18-5) and returning fighter ‘The Kansas City Bandit’ Jason High (16-3) was identified on late Wednesday night for the upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 10 event.

Brazilian news agency Tatame.com announced the matchup between the two 170-lbs fighters, but identified the event as the TUF Brazil 2 Finale on June 8th, which has since been identified as UFC on FUEL TV 10 by UFC Tonight officials (@UFCTonight).

Alcantara debuted with the UFC at light heavyweight but will drop two weight categories to meet High at 170-lbs.

UFC on FUEL TV 10 is expected to take place on June 8, 2013 at the Ginásio Paulo Sarasate arena in Fortaleza, Brazil. The event is expected to host the TUF Brazil 2 finals. Opposing coaches, heavyweights Antônio Rodrigo ‘Big Nog’ Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum are expected to headline the television event.

The bout between Alcantara and High is certain to appear on the events preliminary card.

Alcantara debuted with the UFC last January after stepping in for an injured Roger Hollett at the UFC on FX 7 event. Competing at light heavyweight versus opponent Wagner Prado, Alcantaro earned a second round submission at the Sao Paulo show. The victory was ‘Marajo’s’ eighth straight win having finished seven of those opponents by submission or by (T)KO.

High made one appearance in the Octagon back in March 2010 at UFN 21, losing by decision to Charlie Brenneman. After that ‘The Kansas City Bandit’ went on to compete with several other promotions before ending up with the Strikeforce promotion. High carries a seven fight win streak into his fight with Alcantara with three straight wins in the Strikeforce cage. His last fight took place in July of last year with a first round submission of Nate Moore.

This marks the promotions first visit to the city of Fortaleza which is located on the North-East coast of the South American country.

UFC Tonight Tweeted (@UFCTonight) the news on Wednesday night, linking the event to a welterweight bout between Erick Silva and John Hathaway.

The event will host the TUF Brazil 2 finals for the international reality show as well.

Opposing coaches, heavyweights Antônio Rodrigo ‘Big Nog’ Nogueira (34-7-1, 1NC) and Fabricio Werdum (16-5-1) are expected to headline the television event.

The Ginásio Paulo Sarasate arena, which opened in 1971, has a capacity to hold up to 17,000 spectators for events and typically hosts sporting events as well as live concerts.

Nogueira has traded wins for losses over his last six fights picking up a submission victory over Dave Herman last October at UFC 153. The win earned ‘Big Nog’ the “Submission of the Night” bonus and put him back into the win column following a technical submission loss to Frank Mir at UFC 140.

Werdum is 5-1 in his last six bouts and is 2-0 since returning to the Octagon after competing inside the Strikeforce cage for three years. His most recent appearance saw him pick up a first round TKO finish of Mike Russow last June in Brazil at UFC 147. The other win was by decision in a “Fight of the Night” bout with Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson at UFC 143.

A new Ultimate Fighting Championship event appears to be on schedule for this June in Brazil after a report from SPORTV.com confirmed an upcoming welterweight bout between Erick ‘Índio’ Silva (14-3, 1NC) and John ‘The Hitman’ Hathaway (17-1) for the TUF Brazil 2 Finale.

The Brazilian news agency is reporting the two will meet on June 8th at the Ginásio Paulo Sarasate, an indoor sporting arena in Fortaleza, Brazil, located on the North-East coast of the South American continent. If correct this would mark the promotions first visit to the coastal city.

UFC Tonight Tweeted (@UFCTonight) the news on Wednesday night identifying the event as UFC on FUEL TV 10. The event will apparently host the TUF Brazil 2 reality show finals as well as a heavyweight bout between opposing coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum.

Silva is coming of a couple of injuries to his leg and elbow, both of which forced him out of a UFC 156 match versus Jay Hieron. Silva is just 1-2 in his last three Octagon appearances and will be hungry for a win once he steps into the Octagon opposite Hathaway. The Brazilian lost a decision to Jon Fitch last October in Rio as part of UFC 153. The match did earn both men a “Fight of the Night” bonus though. Silva’s last win took place in June with a first round submission of Charlie Brenneman.

Hathaway has won three in-a-row and is 7-1 so far in the Octagon since debuting with the top promotion back in January 2009. His most recent fight took place in September in Nottigham, England at UFC on FUEL TV 5 where ‘The Hitman’ picked up a decision victory against John Maguire. Hathaway’s two previous wins in his current run include a decision against Pascal Krauss at UFC on FOX 3 and a split decision over Kris McCray at UFN 24.

He was also in action in June defeating Jake Hecht by decision as well at UFC on FX 3.

Waldburger is 3-1 in his last four Octagon appearances picking up his second “Submission of the Night” bonus last December at the TUF 16 Finale. Officials with the Ultimate Fighting Championship have added another bout to this summer’s UFC 161 event, naming lightweight fighters Sam ‘Hands of Stone’ Stout (19-8-1) and Isaac Vallie-Flagg (14-3-1) as opponents for the Canadian event.

UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland is expected to take place on June 15, 2013 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event will see interim bantamweight champ Renan Barão defend his title against top contender Eddie Wineland.

Officials with the promotion announced the bout on Twitter (@UFC) on Wednesday night.

Stout will compete in front of his fellow Canadians at the Winnipeg event and enters this match on a win having beaten another Strikeforce fighter Caros Fodor by split decision last month at UFC 157. The win put ‘Hands of Stone’ back on the winning track after a decision loss to countryman John Makdessi at UFC 154 in November.

Vallie-Flagg debuted inside the Octagon at UFC 156 last month, picking up a split decision over Yves Edwards extending his undefeated streak to twelve bouts. Just two of those matches have taken place at lightweight though, the win versus Edwards and a Strikeforce bout last May with Gesias Cavalcante, which also ended in a split decision win.
