DREAM officials announced the latest bout to the upcoming DREAM.16 event, an open-weight bout between Satoshi Ishi (1-1) vs. Ikuhisa “Minowaman” Minowa (46-30-8).

DREAM.16 will take place on Sept. 25 from the Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan and the event will air live on HDNet in North America early Saturday morning.

Former Olympic Judo Gold medalist, Ishi, will make his DREAM debut at the event. He earned his first professional mma victory against Tafa Misipati at a X-plosion: New Zealand vs. Japan event in New Zealand in May. While losing his pro debut to Hidehiko Yoshida at the Dynamite!! 2009 event on Dec. 31, 2009. Ishi is under contract with World Victory Road and is on loan to DREAM for the event.

Minowa is riding a five fight win streak, which includes winning the DREAM Super Hulk Grand Prix last year. He earned a submission win over Imani Lee by sinking in a rear-naked-choke in the first round of their DREAM.14 bout.

Minowa had been scheduled to face James Thompson at the event but poor buzz concerning the fight forced DREAM officials to look for a new opponent. A number of News sites talked with Thompson`s camp who said the promotion was looking for a new opponent but would ensure his payout regardless.

vitor-belfort-2Earlier today it was announced that Nate Marquardt (30-9-2) would be replacing Vitor Belfort (9-8) at the upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship event in Germany. Marquardt will square off against Japanese fighter Yushin Okami (25-5) at UFC 122 on Nov. 13.

Rumors swirled as to why Belfort was replaced on the card, and UFC president Dana White broke the news on his Twitter site.

Vitor is not injured. He is going to fight anderson for the title and the winner of marquart and okami are next.

Speculation is that the title bout between Belfort and Champion Anderson Silva (27-4) will go down on Jan. 1st in Las Vegas in the headliner for UFC 125.

MMAjunkie.com talked with Belfort’s manager, Fabiano Farah, about the title bout “We shall immediately sign the contract for the bout once the date is confirmed.”

Belfort has won his last five fights including his last bout, a 195 pound catchweight fight against Rich Franklin. Belfort has fought from heavyweight to middleweight throughout his career. Silva defended his title for the seventh straight time, earning a submission victory after being dominated by Chael Sonnen at UFC 117.

No word on whether the bout between Marquardt vs. Okami would remain a top contender fight. UFC 122 takes place on Nov. 13 at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. The event will air on same-day tape delay on Spike TV.

Marquardt is coming off a first round TKO win last week over Rousimar Palhares at the UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares event in Austin, Texas. The win helped Marquardt bounce back from a #1 contender loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC 109. Okami, meanwhile has won his last two with wins over Mark Muñoz and Lucio Linhares. The Japanese fighter has gone 5-1 in his last six since losing a #1 middleweight contender bout to Rich Franklin at UFC 72.

Golden Glory has been busy and it is going to be very busy in the month of October.

The second part of 2010 G.G veteran Stefan Leko and new upcoming 70kg GG talented fighter William van Roosmalen winning their fights in Amsterdam Sporthal Zuid on September 12th.

Nieky Holzken walked into a punch in the first 20 sec of the fight and asked for a rematch.

Two days later an army of G.G heavyweights is traveling to Pattaya, Thailand to prepare for the K-1 WGP series on October 2nd in Korea.

Alistair Overeem, Errol Zimmerman, Gokhan Saki, Sergey Kharitonov, Chalid Arrab, Stefan Leko, Philip Verlinden, Nieky Hemmers, Cor Hemmers, Bas Boon are to be found daily at the Pattaya, Thailand training center.

With temperatures exceeding 34 degrees the team trains twice a day. Sparring, pad training, condition training, running, swimming is the daily routine for the Golden Glory Group. The training is under the guidance of Cor Hemmers under a daily brutal burning sun he brings his almost “sadomasochistic” training schedules to work.

It is only because of will power and determination that the group is training everyday and good food an Thai massages do help of course.

On the other side of the Ocean in Holland another G.G fighter with the name of Semmy Schilt is preparing for the K-1 WGP final 16 Korea. With the help of G.G Romania who always brings a group of great sparring partners, Semmy is going to conquer his 5th K-1 WGP title.

Together with Dave Jonkers and Horia from Romania Semmy is getting his daily routine of crazy training schedules to become even more fit and dangerous then during his last domination and fastest K-1 GP win ever in the history of K-1.

International in the same month of October Golden Glory fighter Marloes Coenen will fight for the world strike force title and Jason Jones will fight in Macau. Don’t be surprised if that same Golden Glory logo will be in your face in the month October, G.G is all over the globe.

The Golden Glory team would like to dedicate all fights in October to their friend a chief navy seal Adam Brown who was killed in action in Afghanistan.

Instead of training too hard for his UFC 119 bout, Mir discussed the “vacation” time he’s taken, figuring if Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic isn’t coming into the fight at 100%, neither should he. Gotta keep things fair…
