Sean O'Malley urges Henry Cejudo to win at UFC 288 please win so i can beat the f*ck out of you

Sean O’Malley has made it very clear who he wishes to win this weekend, pleading with Triple C Henry Cejudo to beat current champion, Aljamain Sterling in tonight’s UFC 288 headliner.

With the bantamweight fight between Cejudo and Sterling rapidly approaching, it’s no surprise the man who could be in next for a title shot makes his opinion heard on who he wishes to win. Having had back and forth with both fighters in the past, O’Malley has clearly stated he wants Cejudo next.

Henry Cejudo returns to action after announcing his retirement in 2020 when he took on Bantamweight great, Dominick Cruz. Since that time he has spent the majority coaching fighters from UFC to the regional level indicating he has picked up a wealth of knowledge in that time that will show major benefit in his upcoming fight just hours away.

Calling for his shot at bantamweight spoils next, number two ranked contender, O’Malley urged Cejudo to win so they can share the Octagon with each other.

“Henry (Cejudo) please win so i can beat the f*ck out of you,” Sean O’Malley tweeted.

Aljamain Sterling has had a weird time as champion winning the belt off of a controversial illegal knee, defending it in a close decision then fighting an injured TJ Dillashaw where many fans have disrespected the Jamaican champion as a result. But with a clear-cut win over Cejudo it would be very hard to take anything away from Sterling who will then of defended his title three times against three different former champions and arguably the division’s greatest of all time.

Sean O’Malley’s rise to fame

O’Malley recently won a split decision against former UFC champion Petr Yan, the fight was not meant to go the way of O’Malley but he more than proved that he does in fact belong at the highest level. He has since seen himself be etched down as the number one contender with him most likely facing the winner of the title fight tonight. And with a pivotal rise to fame that has massively rose O’Malley’s stock since debuting in the UFC in 2018 unless you count his DWCS appearance with a viral KO and then win on the Ultimate Fighter 26 finale.

Should it be Sean O’Malley who faces Cejudo next should he win back the title tonight?

Khamzat Chimaev absence UFC he's got personal stuff going on in his life

UFC president, Dana White has confirmed that streaking welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev is currently dealing with “stuff in his personal life” amid his continued absence from the Octagon.

Chimaev, the current #3 ranked welterweight contender, has been sidelined from active competition since September of last year, co-headlining UFC 279 in a one-sided first round submission win over Kevin Holland, securing a D’Arce choke victory.

The victory came as Chimaev’s second of the year, having previously landed a competitive unanimous decision win over incoming UFC 288 co-headliner, Gilbert Burns in Jacksonville, Florida.

Khamzat Chimaev is expected to fight Paulo Costa at UFC 294 in October

Expected to make his Octagon return later this year at UFC 294 in October in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Chimaev’s continued absence has been questioned across the community, amid links to a fight against one-time title challenger, Paulo Costa at the middleweight limit.

And according to the above-mentioned, White, personal issues with Chimaev have limited his options for an earlier return until the final quarter of this annum.

“That’s on him [Khamzat Chimaev[, though – he’s got stuff going on in his personal life,” Dana White said of Khamzat Chimaev’s continued absence during an interview with TSN reporter, Aaron Bronsteter. “That’s not because, you know, we’re not getting him a fight.”

“Obviously, you know how it goes here,” Dana White explained. “We talk about this all time, we have to get guys three fights a year. So, if we don’t get guys three fights a year, we have to pay ‘em. The only way that would happen, is it they have personal stuff going on.”

Recently, former undisputed welterweight gold holder and former pound-for-pound number one, Kamaru Usman claimed he would be open to fighting Chimaev in his Octagon return later this year, with White confirming the Auchi native would need to move to the middleweight limit to make the fight possible, shooting down a catchweight affair.

UFC backed to revisit Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou fight in the future

According to former undisputed UFC middleweight champion and promotional Hall of Fame inductee, Michael Bisping, the promotion would likely weigh up the possibly of a future resigning of former champion, Francis Ngannou – should current gold holder, Jon Jones beat Stipe Miocic in an expected title fight this year.

Jones, the current undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, is expected to make his return to the Octagon later this year in a championship title defense against former two-time division best, Miocic at Madison Square Garden.

Expected to announce his retirement from the sport in the coming future, Jones claimed that a potential fight with former heavyweight champion, Ngannou would likely see him postpone his retirement from mixed martial arts competition, however.

As for Ngannou, the Batié knockout artist has been sidelined since January 2020, seeing his UFC exit granted in January of this year following the completion of his contractual obligations with the organization last December.

Francis Ngannou has been linked with a move to the PLF later this year

And yet to pen terms with a promotion following his Octagon departure, UFC leader, Dana White confirmed that the promotion would never entertain a return for Ngannou, however, former middleweight champion, Bisping scoffs at that narrative.

“Francis Ngannou – Dana (White) said he will never fight for the UFC ever again, and I understand that of course,” Michael Bisping said on his YouTube channel. “But if Stipe (Miocic) and Jon Jones were to fight, and it’s a big if, if Jon Jones was to win that fight because it ain’t no walk in the park… Stipe Miocic can do it all, so that would be a huge test for Jon Jones and a massive fight…”

“Let’s just imagine that he [Jones] beats him [Miocic] and he says, ‘That’s it. I’m done. I’m done, unless Francis Ngannou comes back’… I think in that situation, everyone would sit around the negotiation table,” Michael Bisping explained. (Transcribed by MMA News)

Slated to make a middleweight division leap amid continued weight cuttting issues in recent Octagon walks, Chimaev has been earmarked to potentially fight one-time middleweight title challenger, Paulo Costa at UFC 294 in October in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Furthermore, the Chechen-born contender has received a notable call-out from the above-mentioned, Usman, however, UFC leader, White insists he would only be interested in booking the bout if they agreed to fight at middleweight.

“What I hate about that fight and [Kamaru Usman] calling him [Khamzat Chimaev] out, Usman is calling him out at a catchweight – I don’t do catchweights, I don’t like catchweights,” Dana White said on The Jim Rome Show. “Catchweights mean nothing. They mean absolutely nothing.”

“If [Kamaru Usman] wants to move up 185 [pounds] and fight [Khamzat Chimaev] we could talk about it,” Dana White explained. “But trying to fight him at a catchweight, I’m not interested in.”

Successfully defending his welterweight title five separate times since assuming the throne back in 2019, Nigerian veteran, Usman had landed two wins over both Colby Covington, and Jorge Masvidal, as well as incoming UFC 288 co-headliner, Gilbert Burns.

Offering his thoughts and breakdown on tonight’s undisputed bantamweight title fight, Adesanya picked Uniondale native, Sterling to leave Newark, New Jersey with his title in tow – blasting Cejudo in the process, however.

“I’m gonna pick ‘Aljo’ because I don’t like Henry (Cejudo),” Israel Adesanya said on his YouTube channel. “See, I don’t have to make no bullsh*t up and try to justify it. I’ll just say I don’t like the munchkin, I don’t like Henry Cejudo, Yeah, I said your name, Little f*cking b*tch.”
