Dillashaw, is now expected to land as the co-headlining bout for UFC 280 on October 22. at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Last time out, Aljamain Sterling co-headlined UFC 273 back in April, successfully unifying the bantamweight titles with a rematch win over rival and then-interim titleholder, Petr Yan in Jacksonville, Florida.

Aljamain Sterling x T.J. Dillashaw is set to be shifted a month later to the Middle East

Returning from his infamous two-year retroactive USADA suspension back in July of last year, former two-time undisputed bantamweight champion, Dillashaw, successfully defeated common-foe, Cory Sandhagen in a close, split decision win as he returned to the division limit. Yahoo! Sports reporter, Kevin Iole was first to report the news of Sterling’s rescheduled title fight with Dillashaw.

“The bantamweight title fight between @funkmasterMMA (Aljamain Sterling) and @TJDillashaw will be co-main event on #UFC280 on Oct. 22 in Abu Dhabi,” Kevin Iole tweeted.

Initially, Sterling and Dillashaw were targeted to feature at a UFC 279 event in September, however, with the confirmation of a welterweight headliner between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz for the pay-per-view event, the bantamweight title fight between Sterling and Dillashaw has been shifted.

Clinching the undisputed bantamweight crown back in March of last year, Sterling managed to win the title via disqualification after Yan landed an illegal knee in the fourth round of their title showdown.

As for Dillashaw, the former two-time undisputed bantamweight titleholder first landed the crown with a major upset win over Brazilian veteran, Renan Barao, before then defeating former teammate, Cody Garbrandt in 2017 to win the title for the second time in his lengthy Octagon tenure.

UFC 280 takes place on October 22. from the Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE – with a vacant lightweight title fight between former champion, Charles Oliveira, and the #4 ranked, Islam Makhachev set to take main event honors.

Reports emerged last night detailing how Diaz and Chimaev had verbally agreed to headline a UFC 279 pay–per-view event on September 10. – with the former set to complete his contractual obligations with the organization as a result.

Last time out, back in June of last year, Diaz, who previously challenged for UFC lightweight gold, suffered a five round unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 263 in Glendale, Arizona.

Cracking the top-3 of the welterweight division back in April, Chimaev, a staple of AllStars MMA in Sweden, Chimaev defeated former title challenger, Gilbert Burns with a close, hard-fought unanimous judging success at UFC 273 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Nate Diaz opens as a monstrous betting underdog ahead of UFC 279

Viewed as somewhat of a likely mismatch given Chimaev’s dominant displays in the Octagon so far, online bookmaker, SportsBetting_ag have provided their opening lines for the September headliner – placing Chimaev as a stark betting favorite, with lines of -2000 available on the undefeated bruiser.

As for Nate Diaz, the Stockton native is placed as quite a massive betting underdog for the UFC 279 curtain closer, with odds opening at +1000 for The Ultimate Fighter 5 tournament winner.

A perpetual underdog when the bookies are concerned, Nate Diaz, incidentally most recently closed as a betting favorite back in April 2013 for his matchup with promotional alum, Josh Thomson – where he suffered an eventual second round high kick knockout defeat.

Issuing a stark warning to Diaz ahead of their headlining tilt, Chimaev released a brief statement, claiming he would be planning the Californian’s “funeral” to take place on September 10. at UFC 279.

Jordan Leavitt has predicted a potential riot at UFC London should he defeat polarizing star, Paddy Pimblett this weekend in the capital, claiming that he will likely “booty shake” or “twerk” on his opponent should he land a main card victory.

Leavitt, a product of Dana White’s Contender Series, returns to the Octagon this weekend in the most high-profile outing his professional career to date, as he features on the main card of UFC London against former Cage Warriors champion, Pimblett.

Riding an impressive run of two straight victories, including a recent split decision win over Trey Ogden into The O2 Arena event, Leavitt has only dropped one single professional defeat in the form of a judging loss to Claudio Puelles.

Jordan Leavitt insists he is a fan of Paddy Pimblett ahead of their UFC London clash

Teasing a charismatic and outlandish celebration should he defeat Pimblett on Saturday, Leavitt, who has previously donned the splits amid other headline-grabbing post-fight celebrations, admits that he has no issue with Pimblett, and offered to “chill” with the Liverpool native in the future, but maintains he very probably knocks the highly-touted upstart out.

“I’m gonna cause a ruckus, that’s for sure,” Jordan Leavitt told LowKick MMA reporter, Nikhil Sharma, ahead of UFC London. “And, you know – I actually like Paddy (Pimblett), I’m a fan of him. I’ve never once had a fight where the majority of the attention is on people liking me, so that’s weird. You have to be really disliked to make me popular. Like, ‘I’m the savior of the sport’ or whatever. I admire his game, I think he’s funny, he’s got good charisma.”

“Under different circumstances, I think we would vibe, you know. I’ll beat him once, and I’ll twerk in London, cause a riot, get my protective detail to take care of me,” Jordan Leavitt explained. “And then maybe when he’s back in the States, we can go chill.”

Returning for the second UFC London edition this year, back in March, former Cage Warriors featherweight champion, Pimblett defeated Kazula Vargas with a first round rear-naked choke as part of a rallying performance in the capital.

Undefeated professional boxer, Jake Paul has claimed that he will be backing veteran Stockton favorite, Nate Diaz to defeat Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 279 on September 10. – referring to the latter as a “fake Khabib”.

Paul, who makes his return to combat sports the month prior, is set to headline a professional boxing card at Madison Square Garden on August 6. – tackling Hasim Rahman Jr. in a headlining clash in New York.

Last night, however, multiple reports confirmed that the undefeated, #3 ranked welterweight contender, Chimaev, will headline UFC 279 on September 10. – meeting with Diaz at the T-Mobile Arena.

Significantly, the matchup will come as Diaz’s final contracted fight on his current UFC deal. And it seems the Californian will ride off into the sunset from the promotion regardless of result against Chimaev, after he continually called for his release from the UFC in recent months.

Jake Paul backs Nate Diaz to land an upset win over Khamzat Chimaev

Sharing his thoughts on the matchup, Ohio native, Paul insisted that he would be putting his money on Nate Diaz to score – what would come as a major upset win, over Chimaev on September 10.

“Betr (Better) believe I’m putting my money on Nate Diaz to win versus fake Khabib (Nurmagomedov) (Khamzat Chimaev),” Jake Paul tweeted.

Paul’s decision to chime in on Diaz’s final contracted Octagon appearance, comes off the back of months of speculation regarding a potential future squared circle matchup between the duo.

Paul has expressed an interest in fighting another UFC standout, including the likes of Conor McGregor, and Jorge Masvidal, however, Diaz has always appeared to have found himself on the YouTuber’s radar.

Diaz, an adept grappler under head coach, Cesar Gracie, has also previously teased a move to professional boxing in the past, as well as noting his interest in competing in several submission grappling tournaments.
