UFC welterweight alum, Mike Perry turned in a close, majority decision win after an overtime round against Bellator welterweight contender and one-time title challenger, Michael Venom Page in the British striker’s BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) debut — even landing a first round knockdown.

Perry, who previously competed under the David Feldman-led BKFC banner back in February, landed a unanimous decision win over fellow UFC alum, Julian Lane.

As for Page, the London Shootfighters trainee was making his first outing in professional bare knuckle fighting tonight in the capital against Perry, after dropping a unanimous split loss to Logan Storley in a Bellator welterweight title fight back in May.

Landing an impressive knockdown in the early goings of the first frame, Perry managed to sting Page with a straight right hand, dropping the Londoner to one knee.

Following a tense back and forth over the course of four further rounds, the sitting ringside judges scored the bout between Perry and Page a split draw, forcing a deciding overtime round.

Pouring the pressure on and landing a series of decent shots in the pocket as Page attempted to clinch on cue, Mike Perry managed to land a majority decision win over the former, securing his second straight BKFC victory since his landing in the organization.

Following the victory, Michigan native, Perry called for a fight against undefeated professional boxer, Jake Paul — who himself is targeting an October return to active competition.

Former UFC scrapper Mike Perry has promised fans violence as he heads into his second Bare Knuckle Boxing bout against Michael Page on Aug.20.

The Bellator welterweight contender clashes with Perry in next weekend’s main event at Wembley Arena, which marks the organization’s first trip to the UK. The fight announcement came as a shock to many considering Page’s last contest was for Bellator gold, and the thirty-five-year-old has never fought in bare-knuckle. Perry, on the other hand, left victorious on his BKFC debut in February vs. Julian Lane.

In the lead-up to fight night, Perry has been sending Page warnings and is adamant he doesn’t know what he’s let himself in for stepping between the ropes. Despite the threats, Perry has shown his respect for the talented striker but questions his toughness when it comes to the viciousness of BKB.

Mike Perry Talks MVP BKFC Fight

“I want to see what happens when I do connect with you and I do get some cuts on your face. I want to see what happens then,” Mike Perry said when faced off with Mike Perry in the BKFC press conference

Although never competing in the sport, Page shrugged it off and dismissed Perry’s doubt, stating: “It won’t happen”.

There is no question about Perry’s shear heart and durability when inside the ring or Octagon. Fans enjoy watching the gangster-like style he brings into battle with him. During his twenty-two professional fights, Perry was only stopped once by strikes, which gave him a bucket full of confidence leading into Aug.20.

“You slippery little snake boy. I’m coming after you. I’m coming for you. You should be worried, MVP. I’m a psychopath,” Perry screamed into the camera.

As it stands, Page has signed to BKFC on a one-fight deal and has aspirations of returning to Bellator after the fight, having previously fallen short in his last outing to Logan Storley at Bellator 281 for interim gold. Page addressed the mixed reactions he got from the fighting community after diving head first into BKB.

“I get a lot of different types of reactions when I’m telling people,” Page said. “Even now, it’s been announced for a little while and people are still like ‘are you actually doing this?’. Similar to MMA when it first came through, people just saw it as barbaric. They didn’t see the skill and level of commitment that athletes had, it’s the same with bare-knuckle now. People have a negative appeal about initially.”

Bellator has a new interim title, as Logan Storley defeats Michael ‘Venom’ Page in front of an English crowd.

Storley was able to utilize his wrestling prowess to shut down much of the offense from MVP. It may not have been the most exhilarating of title fights, but ‘Storm’ stuck to his game plan and now reaps the rewards.

Page did have success in round 4, as he appeared to be beginning to let his hands, and elbows, fly. However, he was unable to finish the fight, which was his only route to success at that point.

MVP

Michael ‘Venom’ Page (MVP) called for a third fight with Douglas Lima immediately after beating the Brazilian to avenge the lone loss of his MMA career at Bellator 267 on Friday night.

MVP defeated Lima in a close split decision, but it could’ve easily have gone the other way. The Englishman is now intent on booking a third fight with Lima over five rounds to prove he is the better man.

“In all honesty, I’ll probably push to run this one back again,” Page told reporters at including LowKickMMA at the Bellator post-fight press conference. “Let’s do five rounds, why not? Let’s go longer.

“If by the end of the third round that had happened again, I got two more rounds to find you and finish you properly. I’ve gone from one end to the other and hopefully, I find that balanced middle and finish him.”

MVP appeared to established himself as the welterweight number one contender last night but seems uninterested in chasing Bellator gold at the time.

“It’s a belt, who cares?” Page said. “How many people that are titleholders are nowhere near as popular as I am? The belt don’t mean anything. It does obviously, but for me, it doesn’t. That moment right there (the decision win over Lima), there’s so many Bellator belt holders that can’t pull off what I did today.

“I feel like people are drawn to me because of my enjoyment of the sport, not because I’m chasing anything. It’s about my journey and pushing myself. I didn’t get to prove that today. I won but I didn’t make his eyes roll to the back of his head and not get back up. I know I can do it, so I prefer to run it back.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)
