Heads up for those of you who forget such things: K-1’s World Grand Prix Finals are going down tonight/tomorrow/whatever in Japan, and will air live on HDNet Fights at 2am EST. Eight heavyweights from six countries (including at least one guy you should damn well be familiar with) will meet to do bodily harm to one another in the name of entertainment, and to determine whom you would least like to meet in a bar while hitting on his girlfriend.

UFC president Dana White has made it no secret over the years that he has been interested in signing Norifumi “KID” Yamamoto. With sources indicating that Yamamoto had a falling out with FEG post-DREAM.14, finally one of Japan’s top featherweights will be making his way to the UFC, White revealed via twitter on Friday.
Yamamoto isn’t the only fighter that has been poached from DREAM this week, top 10 featherweight Michihiro Omigawahas also re-signed with the UFC this week and will be making his debut against Chad Mendes at either UFC 126 in February or UFC 128 in March.

UFC 124 main eventers Josh Koscheck and Georges St. Pierre have used wrestling as the basic building block of their respective careers. For Koscheck — a former NCAA All-American and wrestling champ — it was in the early stages, when he had little more to fall back on. For the champion St. Pierre, it was upon realizing he needed to add the extra element to his arsenal.
The fight within the fight of who controls the wrestling game could well decide who emerges from UFC 124 as the UFC welterweight champion.
