Fans won’t get a chance to see Gilbert Melendez vs. Shinya Aoki at Dynamite!!, but there will be an important lightweight DREAM vs. Strikeforce fight on the card after all.

Josh Thomson vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri has been signed for the Dec. 31 event, MMA Fighting has learned from sources. The bout will take place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

As fight time nears, Georges St. Pierre usually plays his cards closer and closer to the vest. The UFC welterweight champ has a few well-worn, go-to phrases that usually encapsulate his training camp to interrogators.

That doesn’t make St. Pierre much different than any other fighter, but the consistency of his non-answers for questions relating to his preparation and strategy is often as reliable as a Swiss-made watch.

On a Monday conference call, however, St. Pierre let his guard down for a few moments, supplying reporters and fans with a peek into his preparation for his UFC 124 title defense against Josh Koscheck.

Fredson Paixao gets knocked out at TUF 12 Finale.Four fighters have received medical suspensions following Saturday’s live finale of Season 12 of “The Ultimate Fighter” in Las Vegas.

Co-main event winner Stephan Bonnar, Fight of the Night winners Leonard Garcia and Nam Phan and Knockout of the Night victim Fredson Paixao were all given medical suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The NSAC reported the suspensions to MMA Fighting on Monday.

Demian Maia defeats Kendall Grove at The Ultimate Fighter Finale.Demian Maia controlled two rounds on the ground while Kendall Grove controlled one round standing up, and as a result Maia won a fairly easy and fairly uninteresting unanimous decision victory at Saturday night’s Ultimate Fighter Finale.

The judges all scored it for Maia, 29-28, giving Maia his second straight victory after his embarrassing loss to Anderson Silva earlier this year.

In a vicious display of striking in a fight that lasted less than a minute, Robbie Lawler brutally knocked out Matt Lindland on Saturday night’s Strikeforce card.

It was the classic striker vs. grappler matchup, and Lawler’s striking was far too much for Lindland, who never even got a chance to use his grappling. Lawler just came out swinging and landed a huge punch that knocked Lindland down, and Lawler then came down with one more hard punch on the ground that knocked Lindland unconscious.
