Former UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez has described Bellator as “hood rats” following claims from Patricio Freire that the promotion had offered to help his brother, Patricky Freire, with his camp and other expenses in order to ensure he defeated Alvarez back in 2012.

Alvarez, a former Bellator and UFC lightweight champion, last featured professionally at ONE on TNT 4 in April of this year under the Chatri Sityodtong-led, ONE Championship banner — suffering a unanimous decision defeat against Ok Rae Yoon over the course of three rounds.

The outing came as the Philadelphia native’s fourth under the organization’s banner, following an eight-fight stint with the UFC where he clinched the undisputed lightweight crown against Rafael dos Anjos back in July 2016.

However, the aforenoted former two-weight champion, Patricio Freire spoke with MMA Fighting reporter, Guilherme Cruz, where he made claims that Bellator had offered to help his elder brother, recently minted lightweight champion, Patricky Freire with expenses and his camp to ensure he would beat Alvarez in 2012.

Bellator called us to talk and said, ‘It’s Eddie Alvarez’s last fight and he’ll leave the organization and we’re putting (Patricky Freire) to beat him up,” Patricio Freire said. “We’ll help you. To sum it up, it was basically like, ‘We’ll put Patricky to beat up Eddie Alvarez because we know Patricky is a badass and won’t back out, and we’ll help you in your camp, whatever you need.’ Cool, (but) that didn’t happen and Patricky got knocked out.

Reacting to Freire’s comments, Alvarez explained how he did not miss that period of his life with the promotion, labeling the organization as a “hood rat“.

Crazy Pitbull (Freire) told these secretes (sic) to the public. …. If fans only knew some of the stuff that happens behind the scenes,” Alvarez tweeted.”Playing hood rat games with a hood rat, winnings (sic) not likely.

They (Bellator) didn’t know I had somebody on the inside that told (me) all their moves beforehand,” Alvarez posted. “I don’t miss this time of my life but it helped me navigate the dangerous jungle more effectively. I’m thankful this happened, it almost bankrupted me but I learned. “Understand your enemy as well as yourself and victory is inevitable.”

Meeting with Freire in a lightweight title-eliminator in 2012, Alvarez stopped the future lightweight titleholder with an opening round, high-kick knockout before stopping now-UFC lightweight contender, Michael Chandler with a split decision to lift the Bellator lightweight crown.

The celebratory tenth-year anniversary ONE: X event hosted by ONE Championship has been postponed from its slated December 5. landing pad, due to a recent viral outbreak in the promotion’s home country of Singapore.

The event, which was scheduled to take place on December 5. and featured a special rules matchup between Flyweight Grand Prix victor and former UFC flyweight titleholder, Demetrious Johnson as well as Muay Thai practitioner, the decorated, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, has now been officially postponed until the early stages of next year, amid a record-high viral outbreak in Singapore.

ONE: X officially postponed until early 2022 following viral outbreak in Singapore.

ONE Championship president, Chatri Sityodtong released an official statement this afternoon on his Facebook page, confirming that the anniversary event had been halted and subsequently postponed as a result of the viral outbreak.

BREAKING NEWS: Due to the record high outbreak in Singapore, ONE: X will now take place early next year instead of December 5.,” Sityodtong’s statement read. “The Singapore Government continues to do an extraordinary job in managing the situation for the country. I am full of gratitude and appreciation for its incredible leadership and excellence. Please note that our regular shows for November and December are expected to continue as per usual. It is a tricky time for everyone in Singapore, but I am confident that we will all get through these times by working together with compassion, resilience, creativity, and patience. Majulah Singapura!

ONE: X is not only a celebration of our tenth year anniversary, but it is also going to be the biggest event in our history. Along with the highly-anticipated matching of Johnson and Rodtang, the promotion is also expected to field an undisputed bantamweight title fight between two-time division best, Bibiano Fernandes, as well as the surging knockout ace, former UFC bantamweight contender, John Lineker.

In a featherweight title bout, Thanh Le was scheduled to defend his title opposite surging Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu player, New Jersey native, Garry Tonon — with that bout including the aforenoted pairings of Fernandes and Lineker, as well as Johnson and Rodtang now all postponed.

EXCLUSIVE | Rodtang Says Demetrious Johnson Is A ‘Legend’ But ‘Has Some Weaknesses’

Rodtang Jitmuangnon notes that Demetrious Johnson is a “legend” but refuses to put the former UFC flyweight champion on a pedestal ahead of their special hybrid rules fight on December 5 at ONE X.

The rounds are scheduled for three minutes. Rounds one and three will be contested under the ONE Muay Thai ruleset and rounds two and four will be contested under the ONE MMA ruleset

During a recent interview with LowKickMMA, Rodtang admitted that his goal is to finish ‘Mighty Mouse’ in the first frame, although he recognizes that might not be possible.

“Yeah of course, but you know depends on the game in that night,” Rodtang said. “If I can’t finish him in the first round, at least I’ll try to make him tired, then the second round he has less power. “

The Muay Thai phenom understands that his MMA skills are lacking so he will look to be more defensive than offensive if they see a second round at ONE X later this year.

“For (the) second round, I know that my MMA skill is very basic and do not continue training on a daily basis, so I probably need to plan more on defense, I probably start the game with striking.”

Rodtang has nothing but respect for his opponent but says he sees weaknesses in the game of Johnson.

“DJ is a legend, however, he has some weaknesses,” Rodtang said.

The 24-year-old is the currently ONE Championship flyweight titleholder in Muay Thai. Last time out, Rodtang put on a dominant display over three rounds to beat Daniel Williams.

‘Mighty Mouse’ will be competing for the first time since suffering the first KO loss of his career. The former UFC flyweight champ was stopped by Adriano Moraes when he challenged for ONE Championship gold at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore back in April.

Who do you think will be victorious on December 5? Rodtang Jitmuangnon or Demetrious Johnson?

EXCLUSIVE | Demetrious Johnson Thinks Moreno vs. Figueiredo III Comes Down To Who Has The Better Game Plan

Former undisputed, dominant UFC flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson currently holds the promotional record for most consecutive successful defenses of his title with 11 separate knockbacks. And as the current flyweight crown frequently switches hands, Johnson is unconcerned if his record continues to grow in value and opinion as a result.

Johnson, who transitioned to current home, ONE Championship back in late 2018 in a monumental trade with former UFC welterweight champion, Ben Askren, is scheduled to headline a ONE X event in December against the promotion’s current flyweight Muay Thai champion, Rodtan Jitmuangnon in a special mixed rules bout.

From four bouts under the Chatri Sityodtong-led banner, Johnson has established a 3-1 record — dropping his first professional knockout back in April at ONE on TNT 1 in a flyweight title challenge against Adriano Moraes. Prior to the loss, Johnson had progressed from the quarter final bracket of the ONE flyweight Grand Prix to the final — lifting the tournament crown with a unanimous decision win over Danny Kingad.

Exiting the UFC off the back of close, split decision flyweight title loss to two-time foe, former two-weight titleholder, Henry Cejudo in August 2018 — Johnson had lodged a simply staggering 11 separate consecutive successful title defenses, knocking back the likes of Ray Borg, John Dodson (x2), Joseph Benavidez (x2), Wilson Reis, Kyoji Horiguchi, Ali Bagautinov, as well as the aforenoted, Cejudo.

In Johnson’s absence from the UFC’s flyweight division, the 125lbs title has passed hands on three separate occasions, with the above-mentioned, Cejudo, as well as Deiveson Figueiredo, and current champion, Brandon Moreno all wrapping the undisputed belt around their respective waists.

Speaking with LowKick MMA reporter, Keelin McNamara during a recent interview, Johnson gave his thoughts on the upcoming flyweight title trilogy between Moreno and Figueiredo — claiming that whoever can execute their game plan come fight night, should emerge with the belt in tow.

I think it’s gonna be a good fight,” Demetrious Johnson said. “It’s gonna come down to who can execute the game plan, you know. Obviously, in the second fight, Brandon (Moreno) was able to get his game plan going, he looked sharp, he was quicker on the feet. And, you know, (Deiveson) Figueiredo couldn’t keep up. So I’ll be watching that fight as a fan, and we’ll see what happens.

Commenting on the recent juggling act of the flyweight title, Johnson claimed that it would take time for a dominant force to emerge at 125lbs, akin to his run, but believes the likes of Amanda Nunes, Valentina Shevchenko, or even Kamaru Usman could usurp his championship record.

I think Amanda Nunes, I think Valentina Shevchenko, Kamaru Usman — those guys are — those athletes have been very dominant,” Demetrious Johnson said. “As for the flyweight division, it’s just gonna take time to see who’s gonna be ahead of everyone, you know what I mean. It’s a very, very fast, dynamic division.

As far as how onlookers perceive his run in the UFC’s flyweight division, especially given the frequent changing of holders, Johnson appears to remain unmoved, claiming that he would just let people give their opinion when it’s all said and done — regardless of who eventually lodges a dominant run in a similar light to his.

“oh yeah, of course, but I don’t really care about that, I’ll people decide how they feel about my reign,” Demetrious Johnson said.

EXCLUSIVE | Demetrious Johnson Plans To ‘Compete’ With Rodtang In Muay Thai Rounds

Demetrious Johnson has revealed his plan is to “compete” with Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the Muay Thai rounds of their special rules fight.

‘Mighty Mouse’ is set to square off against Rodtang in special hybrid rules fight at ONE X on December 5. The rounds are scheduled for three minutes. Rounds one and three will be contested under the ONE Muay Thai ruleset and rounds two and four will be contested under the ONE MMA ruleset

The former UFC flyweight champion is tasked with surviving three minutes with one of the most talented strikers on the planet. Many believe Johnson’s safest route to victory is to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge his way through the first round before taking Rodtang to the floor in round two.

During a recent interview with LowKickMMA, Johnson explained that his plan is the “compete” with Rodtang from the opening bell.

“I think the best way to do it is to fight, go out there and compete, you know,” Johnson said. “Obviously, Rodtang is a Muay Thai specialist, but I have to go out there and compete and just do what I do best and that’s just be dynamic and fight.”

The 34-year-old is pumped to be taking part in this unique fight on such a momentous occasion.

“It’s a ten-year anniversary,” Johnson said. “So, I’m grateful and honored to have the opportunity to be able to go out there and compete against a guy like Rodtang in a special rules fight. So, I’m just looking very much forward to it.”

“I was excited when they offered it to me,” Johnson said. “You know, to be on the ONE X show is kind of like perfect because there’ll be a lot of buzz and a lot of people are excited about the fight.”

Johnson insists it will not be plane sailing if he successfully emerges from round one.

“I think there’s something he can do (to compete in the MMA rounds). I mean, he’s an athlete, right? He’s an athlete, he’s in fighting his whole entire life,” Johnson said, “So, like, can he sit, maybe into a triangle or an armbar? No. There’s no way he will be able to do that, but the basics, not to turtle and do certain things. You can find out and learn that in nine, eight weeks. I believe in his skillset.”
