Brazilian jiu-jitsu all-star Mikey Musumeci stepped back inside the ONE Circle on Friday night at ONE Fight Night 10 for a submission grappling showdown with Yemen’s first black belt IBJJF world champion, Osamah Almarwai. Musumeci, who currently reigns as the ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion, is undefeated under the ONE Championship banner, having earned victories over Masakazu Imanari, Cleber Sousa, and Sambo world champion Gantumur Bayanduuren.

Mikey Musumeci was in firm control of the contest from the opening bell as he immediately pushed the pace and attacked the legs of his opponent. Taking things to the mat quickly, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ locked in on the legs of Almarwai, but ‘Osa’ was able to defend his attempts for a majority of the matchup.

With time becoming a factor, Mikey Musumeci opted to abandon his favored leg attacks and instead went for Almarwai’s neck. After 25-minutes of action, Johnson was announced as the winner via unanimous decision. While the contest didn’t deliver the highlight reel knockouts that made their first two meetings so iconic, Johnson’s skills were on full display en route to a decisive world title defense.

Following Demetrious Johnson’s win, ‘The Last Stylebender’ took to Twitter, congratulating the multi-time world champion while simultaneously taking a friendly jab at the general consensus flyweight GOAT.

Following his win, Johnson engaged in a face off with Kairat Akhmetov, the No. 2 ranked flyweight contender in ONE Championship. Earlier in the evening, Akhmetov earned a dominant unanimous decision victory over Australian striker Reece McLaren to solidify his spot at the next man in line for DJ’s 26 pounds of ONE Championship gold.

Muay Thai sensation Rodtang Jitmuangnon put his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship on the line at ONE Fight Night 10 against Mexican-born ONE Championship debutant Edgar Tabares. As the first-ever WBC Muay Thai International champion, Tabares had upset on his mind, but that would be much easier said that done as he squared off with one of the most feared strikers in all of combat sports.

The opening round saw the two technical strikers downloading information on one another. With his back against the fence, Tabares fired off a body kick that was caught by Rodtang.
