Former Strikeforce welterweight champ Nate ‘The Great’ Marquardt posted this photo on Sunday morning on his Facebook page showing his bruised and battered left leg.

Marquardt sustained the damage on Saturday in a title fight with Tarec Saffiedine in the main even of the final Strikeforce show.

For five rounds Saffiedine peppered Marquardt’s lead leg with kicks, and as this photo shows, did enough damage to send Marquardt to the hospital (as evidenced by the wristband) where he was treated and given a pair of crutches to use.

The bout marked Marquardt’s first title defense at 170-lbs which he would end up losing by unanimous decision to Saffiedine. ‘The Great’ faces an uncertain future at the moment whether or not the UFC will take him back, or if he will have to look at another promotion to call home.
