UFC flyweight Rachel Ostovich’s husband Arnold Berdon plead no contest Thursday to a charge of assaulting his wife.
Ostovich filed for a temporary restraining order in November after Berdon allegedly fractured her eye socket. According to her petition of protection, Berdon punched her multiple times in the face and chest. She managed to escape when she leaped from a balcony.
When police first arrested Berdon they charged him with second-degree attempted murder. However, prosecutors later changed the charge to second-degree assault.
Berdon, 28, is likely to avoid any jail time if he does well in a domestic violence intervention program said
“I’m going to do well,” Berdon told the judge.
Sentencing for Berdon is set for May 16. The maximum sentence he is looking at should he mess up the domestic violence program is five years.
After the hearing, Berdon told reporters that he decided to plead no contest in lieu of a long legal drama. He also said he and Ostovich are getting a divorce.
“I’m satisfied that Arnold is accepting responsibility for his actions and getting the needed help so that he can be the best father to our daughter,” Ostovich said in a statement through her attorney, Lanson Kupau.

“The Karate Hottie” is everything her nickname suggests and so much more. Waterson kicked her way into the UFC, amassing a 14-6 MMA record overall.
The 32-year-old was a professional kickboxer and competitive Karateka before her career in MMA, and her good looks have gotten her spots in music videos, calendars, and the popular television shows “American Ninja Warrior” and “Bully Beatdown”.
With a fan-friendly fighting style and physical beauty, it’s no wonder why the UFC has invested a good deal in promoting Waterson, placing her on free FOX and FS1 events, and most recently a spot on UFC 218 PPV.
