UFC legend Rampage Jackson thinks outer space is fake.

Jackson went on Brendan Schaub’s podcast as the two started to talk about outer space when the former UFC champion gave an odd take. Jackson thinks that the sun and moon are real, but believes outer space is fake and is made up by scientists.

“That’s not the only thing they are selling you on. They selling you on space,” Jackson said when asked by Schaub about why scientists believe the planet is round (via Yardbarker). “The sun is real. The sun and the moon are real. But outer space is not.”

It is odd thinking by Rampage Jackson to think the moon and sun are real, but outer space is made up. Where the sun and moon are located to Jackson then is uncertain, but he isn’t buying that space is a real thing.

Rampage Jackson’s MMA career

Rampage Jackson is a former UFC light heavyweight champion.

Jackson last competed in MMA back in 2019 when he suffered a TKO loss to Fedor Emelinaneko at heavyweight at Bellator 237. The fight was the final bout of his deal with Bellator and the promotion opted to not re-sign the former UFC champ.

Since his last MMA fight, Jackson competed in Fight Circus in 2023 getting a win, and is set to face former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs on June 1 in Qatar in a boxing match.

Jackson is 38-14 in his MMA career as ‘Rampage’ is 1-3 in his last four fights. He won the UFC light heavyweight title by knocking out Chuck Liddell at UFC 71 in 2007. He defended the belt once with a decision win over Dan Henderson but lost the title by decision to Forrest Griffin.

Challenging then-light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell at UFC 71 in May 2007, ‘Rampage’ caught ‘The Iceman’ on the chin with a vicious right hook just 90 seconds into the bout. Following it up with some ground-and-pound strikes, the contest was quickly called off and Jackson was declared the winner at the 1:53 mark of the very first round.

But it wasn’t just UFC gold that Jackson left with that evening. He also took home a big f*cking check.

“They gave me a crazy pay-per-view deal because they knew they weren’t going to do pay-per-view and then Dana White and the UFC bought my contract,” Jackson said on the JAXXON Podcast, referring to the UFC buying out his contract from the WFA in 2006. “So when I fought Chuck, I made millions. I made about $7 million on the Chuck Liddell fight. But then they figured out my pay-per-view numbers were crazy so my next fight when I fought Dan Henderson, was on TV. They didn’t want to give me pay-per-view.”

When ‘Rampage’ signed with the World Fighting Alliance he was entitled to a large cut of pay-per-views, though it was a non-issue for the promotion as WFA did not produce PPV events. However, when the UFC bought out Jackson’s contract along with other WFA assets, he was still entitled to the PPV percentage promised to him, which netted him $7 million from the Liddell fight — bonuses and sponsorship deals withstanding.

The buyrate for the Liddell fight was reportedly 675,000. With an average UFC PPV price of $40 at the time, that would mean Jackson was entitled to roughly 25% of the PPV revenue leaving 19% for the promotion as 56% automatically went back to the cable providers.

It’s no wonder why Jackson’s next fight aired on Spike TV instead of on PPV.

El Cucuy‘ is on the cusp of making UFC history. Unfortunately, it’s not the type of history you generally want to be associated with. The former lightweight interim champion has lost seven fights in a row, tying the record once set by another legend of the sport — B.J. Penn. With one more loss, Ferguson will claim sole possession of the record for the longest losing streak in promotional history.

Appearing on the JAXXON podcast, Ferguson received some heartfelt advice from ‘Rampage’ while discussing his struggle to find the win column in recent years.

“Tell yourself in the morning when you wake up, give yourself an ‘I deserve this. I deserve this victory. I deserve to get back on top. I deserve everything because I worked hard. I’m a hard worker.’ Tell yourself that every morning when you wake up, thank the man up high,” Jackson said. “Show gratitude. Thank him for your healthy beautiful kids. Your beautiful wife. Everything. Thank him for the things you don’t have. Thank him for things that you want and never talk about what you don’t have. Always thank him for everything.

“And then tell yourself you do deserve it. And don’t feel guilty for anything you’ve done in the past. We’re all ratchet men. Nobody’s perfect. You deserve it. You deserve everything.”

It’s been nearly five years since Tony Ferguson has seen his hand raised inside the Octagon. After amassing a record-setting 12-straight wins in the lightweight division, ‘El Cucuy’ suffered a brutal fifth-round knockout loss against current BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 in May 2020. He hasn’t been the same since.

Ferguson has come up short against some of the absolute best fighters at 155, including Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler, and Nate Diaz. However, his most recent losses against Bobby Green and Paddy Pimblett have fans practically begging him to hang up his gloves — something he has no intention of doing.

Rising welterweight contender Ian Garry labeled Octagon icon Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson a “thick c*nt” and a “f*cking idiot” during an X-rated rant on social media.

Garry was set to appear on Jackson’s JAXXON podcast days ahead of his UFC 298 clash with Geoff Neal on February 17. However, those plans have been seemingly scrapped after ‘Rampage’ called Garry a “cuck” during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

“I’ve got him in like four days I’m on his podcast, and he goes on, calls me a cuck,” Garry said via his Instagram stories. ‘Ian the cuck,’ he didn’t even know my name and he’s like asking Ariel [Helwani], ‘Does his wife really have a boyfriend?’“

Getting wind of Garry’s NSFW comments, ‘Rampage’ attempted to make amends with ‘The Future’ via a video on X.

“Yo, boys. This is your guy ‘Rampage.’ I just gotta tell ya’ll that these fighters who come on the Jaxxon podcast, it’s all respect. It’s all love,” Jackson said. “Ya’ll know I just be joking. I got much respect and mad love for all ya’ll. I just be joking, man. I’m trying to be a comedian too much, but I’ve been trying to tell ya’ll for years that I’m a comedian pretending to be a fighter. I’ve seen some of the clips that I’ve been doing and I do f*ck up a lot of names. There’s a couple names that I just can’t say. That’s why I make fun of myself.

“And to Ian Garry, I do feel bad because he don’t know me. He never met me. He’s probably never seen my fights. He don’t know my personality. He don’t know that I just be joking, but it’s all love, man. I love all ya’ll. Mad respect to everybody who gets out there and fight.”

But in true ‘Rampage’ fashion, the former PRIDE fighter made it clear that there is one man out there he does not respect.

“I got love and respect for everybody except Shannon Briggs. F*ck that motherf*cker. That walrus-lookin’ motherf*cker. But to all the other fighters, mad love to all of ya’ll. But Shannon Briggs, f*ck that motherf*cker.”

After years of back-and-forth trash talk between the two, ‘Rampage’ and the former WBO heavyweight world champion will strap on the eight-ounce gloves for a clash inside the squared circle. The boxing match is expected to emanate from The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on June 1.

Ian Garry cannot catch a break and disputes his approach clearly not working for him in terms of winning over the public, still chooses to bite back and put odd frankly odd social media content to give the response. For someone who has not orchestrated a ‘bad guy’ persona and clearly wants, and puts effort into, being liked he continues to have a growing group of detractors. 

Garry also seems to come up second best in many of the online battles he engages in, either with fans or fellow fighters.

Jackson would poke fun at Garry during his recent appearance on The MMA Hour — ahead of the Dubliner’s fight at UFC 298 next weekend. The former UFC light-heavyweight champion called Garry a ‘cuck’, something which has now become rather popular to do after online rumours circulated about the Irishman’s wife.

Garry posted to his Instagram Stories and didn’t hold back on Jackson. 

“Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson went on [The MMA Hour] last night and talked about how I turned down his podcast because I was afraid of being made fun of,”  Ian Garry said. “I’ve got the c—t on Monday of fight week. I’ve got him in like four days I’m on his podcast, and he goes on, calls me a cuck. ‘Ian the cuck,’ he didn’t even know my name and he’s like asking Ariel [Helwani], ‘Does his wife really have a boyfriend?’ No, you thick c—t. No.”

“You’re believing absolute bollocks and lies from other people,” he continued. “Imagine running a podcast and not knowing who your next guest was. Imagine being that f—king stupid. Then going on [The MMA Hour] and speaking about it. Well, I can tell you one thing, you’re definitely not having me on now because you’re a f—king idiot chatting mad s—t. Good luck. Take care. I wish you nothing but f—king f—k all.”

After more than four years since his last appearance inside the cage, Jackson will debut in the squared circle when he straps on the eight-ounce gloves for a clash with former WBO heavyweight world champion Shannon Briggs. The fight will emanate from The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on June 1.

Appearing on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘Rampage’ revealed that his long-awaited clash with Briggs likely won’t be the only time we see him step inside the boxing ring.

“After that, I want a rematch with Rashad [Evans] in a boxing match because I feel like he likes to wrestle a little bit too much,” Jackson said. I think we can throw them things, and then after Rashad, I think I’m gonna call out Wanderlei Silva for the rubber match.

Will We See ‘Rampage’ and Wanderlei Silva Reignite Iconic Rivalry?

‘Rampage’ and Wanderlei Silva engaged in one of mixed martial arts’ most memorable feuds. Over the course of 15 years, the two titans of combat sports went toe-to-toe four times across three different promotions. They first met under the PRIDE banner where ‘The Axe Murderer’ earned victories over Jackson via knockout in November 2003 and October 2004.

They would meet up once again inside the Octagon at UFC 92 in 2008. This time, ‘Rampage’ came out on top via a first-round KO. Fast forward another 11 years, Jackson would officially even the series at 2-2 with another knockout of Silva at Bellator 206. It was the last MMA fight of Silva’s career.

Silva officially announced his retirement in 2022 but has expressed an interest in boxing. Perhaps we’ll see the beloved knockout artists throw hands one more time, putting an exclamation point on their iconic rivalry.
