Our weekly interview with The Ultimate Fighter cast member Ramsey Nijem includes not only a look at the fight that took place on this week’s show — Clay Harvison defeating Mick Bowman — but also the fight that everyone in the MMA world is discussing this week, Georges St. Pierre vs. Jake Shields at UFC 129.

Although he knows he’s in the minority, Nijem is picking Shields. That’s motivated in part by Nijem’s status as one of Shields’ training partners to help him get ready for the St. Pierre fight, but it’s not just talk: Nijem says he put down some money on Shields.

Nijem also comments on this week’s Ultimate Fighter episode. The full interview is below.

Ramsey Nijem stepped into the cage and won his fight against Charlie Rader on this week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter, using his solid wrestling base to control Rader, take him down and finish him with a rear-naked choke.

But this week’s episode of the UFC’s reality show focused almost as much on Nijem’s personality outside the cage, where his habits — including painting his toenails and watching Glee — make him something very different from the stereotypical cage fighter.

In his weekly interview with MMAFighting.com, Nijem talked about his victory over Rader, shed a little more light on his personality outside the cage, and shared his thoughts on advancing to the next round of this season’s Ultimate Fighter tournament.

Ramsey Nijem is a contestant on this season of the Ultimate Fighter. The big storyline on this week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter was that one fighter, Keon Caldwell, quit just days after the show started. Caldwell’s teammate, Ramsey Nijem, says in his weekly interview with MMAFighting.com that it’s hard to respect a teammate who quit on the chance of a lifetime.

Nijem says he was surprised that Caldwell decided he couldn’t keep going, and although Caldwell said he quit the show to spend time with his daughter, Nijem wonders whether it wasn’t just that Caldwell realized he wasn’t good enough.

The full interview also touches on the fight in this week’s episode, in which Chris Cope of Team Lesnar beat Javier Torres of Team Dos Santos.

Ramsey Nijem is a contestant on this season of the Ultimate Fighter. When Ramsey Nijem showed up to take his place as one of the cast members on Season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter, he was battling a case of bronchitis. So when the 14 fighters on the show were asked to work out for coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos, Nijem was operating at less than 100 percent.

So when dos Santos made Nijem the fourth choice on his seven-man team, Nijem breathed a sigh of relief — at least he wasn’t picked last.

In an interview with MMAFighting.com, Nijem discussed his thoughts on getting chosen to Team Dos Santos, what it was like hearing a speech from UFC President Dana White on the first day of taping, and what he thought about the first fight of Season 13, between Shamar Bailey and Nordin Asrih.

Nijem also talked a bit about his background and his recent work as a sparring partner for Jake Shields. The full interview is below.
