Friday night in Japan sees the Dynamite!! 2010 New Year’s Eve event taking place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

The show airs on HDNet in North America beginning at 4AM EST (1AM PST) on a two hour tape delay.

A total of 15 matches were scheduled for the evenings event featuring a mix of DREAM, K-1, and mixed/special rules bouts.

The “IGF Special Rules” bout between Bob Sapp vs. Sinichi Suzukawa was canceled just before the start of the Dynamite!! 2010 event. HDNet broadcaster Michael Shiavello noted that Sapp withdrew from the fight after failing to renegotiate his contract just before the fight.

In a Sengoku featherweight title fight, Marlon Sandro will look to defend his belt against Shooto titleholder Hatsu Hioki. Also, the likes of Roxanne Modafferi, Hitomi Akano, Kazuo Misaki, Megumi Fujii, Masanori Kanehara, Maximo Blanco and Won Sik Park will all be action on this 28-fight card.

Megumi Fujii student Ayaka Hamazaki indicated that she may be following in the footsteps of her mentor as she stood toe-to-toe with one of the best kickboxers in women’s MMA in Seo Hee Ham, and battered and bruised Miku Matsumoto‘s former teammate Sakura Nomura to become the first Jewels lightweight champion at the promotion’s end-of-year event on Friday night at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

In the finals of “Rough Stone” rookie tournaments, Kikuyo Ishikawa and Hiroko Kitamura edged past their respective opponents to bring home the gold ,but it was 16-year-old Mizuki Inoue that really impressed. The young kickboxer-turned-mixed martial artist dominated and finished a much older opponent for the second time in two outings to win her first MMA title.

WEC 53 features two title bouts in the main and co-main event slots.

Defending his WEC lightweight title is champ Benson Henderson who takes on top challenger Anthony Pettis. The winner moves on to a #1 contender position for the UFC lightweight title. While WEC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz takes on Scott Jorgensen for the first UFC 135 lbs title.
